NCAA Football 10 News Post

Hey guys... so we are aware of the issue with no (or few) freshmen on some teams in TeamBuilder and yes the same issues are found on the NCAA 10 disc. Over the past few days, one of our top priorities has been investigating solutions.

The TeamBuilder teams require some data on the disc to set Depth Charts for every team created before they can be used in a game. For example if you use the Cupcake roster as a starting point, NCAA 10 will give you a default Depth Chart for the Cupcakes for your TeamBuilder team (which you can edit in game). This means any changes we make could cause some problems with teams already created using TeamBuilder. So we need to ensure we are taking to proper steps to correct the issues.

We understand the concerns with how this can affect Dynasty mode and Online Games, so we are working hard to have a solution in place before launch on July 14th.

Wow, I'm actually not looking forward to NCAA this year. For years it was better than Madden and now EA is showing it almost no love. The rules are even right with the playclock only being 25 seconds. That's a sinb in making a sim game imo.

I still just don't understand how it was missed. Are the people that work for EA from USC, Florida, OU, and Texas only? You think that they would at least look at their favorite team and realize how jacked up their roster is. Pathetic

i know its only been a couple of days, and i havent read through this thread, but has the ea guy come back to check in on this thread or given any possible solution?

I know that they have come out here and acknowledged there is a roster problem, but guys i do not think that we have as much power or say so as you think we do. The people who post on these type of threads are geeks for college football. Me being one of them. If you notice, there are only about 40 of us who consistantly post and there are hardly ever 200 people on here at a time. I think you guys are overestimating how much pull you think we have. yes we brought the roster thing to their attention, but lets just say for arguements sake that ncaa 10 sells 1 milion copies. Well the people like us probably only make up between 5 and 10 percent of that number, MAYBE. I am sure that they will search for a solution, but they arent going to delay release or screw up any new features just because less than a hundred people on some forums are pissed. Thats just my opinion. So i think people should just chill out and if you dont like the game dont buy it.

Dude, they posted this less than 24 hours ago. No need to abandon hope quite yet.

You might be right about this until it comes out and the average fan buys it and realizes how f'ed up it is. That average fan will remember it and not buy the game next year. EA may not lose much this year but down the road they will. So they better pay attention to what is said on forums like this because it is a built in focus group on how their product will be received.

Not trying to sound like an internet tough guy I am just trying to be realistic. If this is how loyal purchasers feel how do think the more fickle casual buyer will feel?

oh i am not abandoning hope yet. I just feel like beating up the dev team isnt going to get us anywhere and we should sit back and relax and give them a chance to fix the problem to the best of their ability.

Not to be a pessimist, okay maybe I am, but if attempts are being made to resolve the roster issue why is the Teambuilder site still running?

# 289 icmOU72 @ 06/11/09 01:12 PM
I feel like the casual buy will get the game and play online dynasty, but will not play with their favorite team whose roster may or may not be screwed up on July 14 (depending on if they can fix it), they will use florida and ohio state, whose roster are right for the most part. Out side of that, i believe that a lot of casual fans will find teambuilder really cool and will play with their created team.

I am not tryin to be a tough guy on here either and i like this discussion and seeing points of view that are different than mine. A good conversation is fun as long as we dont get too fired up.

My guess is that they quickly ruled out any solution that affects TeamBuilder.

They've already said they're not gonna just immediately blow up Teambuilder if they don't need to, and I don't think they should. They should try to keep it and still fix the issue. When push comes to shove though, in the end, if re-tooling the Teambuilder site is a necessity in order to get the roster fix on the disc, I hope they make the right decision.

so...out of all the possible problems they could have, the problem is one quarter of the players did not make the game. wow.

# 293 marcoyk @ 06/11/09 01:17 PM
hahahaha yeah just a small part of the game, right?

# 294 icmOU72 @ 06/11/09 01:18 PM
is it possible that they can fix the roster and then just replace the one on teambuilder site with a new roster file? or do they have to actually go back and use the existing roster and just update it?

# 295 MrArlingtonBeach @ 06/11/09 01:22 PM
So first we have 2K that completely screws up their MLB game with an completely dysfunctional Franchise mode and severely limited editing options.

Then SCEA released a patch for The Show that caused in-progress RTTS and Franchise modes to freeze (or something like that...I don't have a PS3. I only know the basics & what I read on here).

Now EA can't get rosters straight on their NCAA Football game.

This year has been rough on sports gamers...

I can't wait until glaring weaknesses in Madden, the NHL games, etc. are discovered.

Remember, the game isnt out yet so A) they could fix it and we would never notice or B) there could be other big issues.

Take whichever option suits you best. Im just hopeful that it all gets ironed out. Its a big deal, but the fact that its before the game is out lends credence that A) their should be MORE community involvement prior to game going gold to catch this stuff B) we are making a difference and C) that nothing is a foregone conclusion.

Bringing in outside help seems the most obvious. Don't writers have editors? Dont athlete have coaches (swing coaches, strength coaches)? AN outside eye can diagnose issues sometimes as they arent biased and they havent been looking at the code/writing for months on end.

# 297 DoubleDeuce @ 06/11/09 01:53 PM
So did this only get figured out when people looked at the rosters on the Teambuilder site? If so, at least Teambuilder is good for something. Otherwise nobody would have realized this until after we had paid our money to buy the game.

# 298 jaydee6385 @ 06/11/09 01:54 PM
Good point Deuce. I'd be pissed if these rosters surprised me first day.

Neither should ever happen....back to back years nonetheless.

EA was in a position to really earn the consumers trust back after last years debacle, instead they dug the hole deeper.
QFT. If this is not resolved before July 14, I seriously hope the word of these roster problems spread throughout the land and sales for NCAA drop dramatically. This is an absolute outrage!!!

It pisses me off even more since they focused so much attention on something as trivial Season Showdown. Maybe they could have caught this problem earlier if they weren't busy figuring out if going for it on 4th down was -10 points or -20 points.. It really shows what their priorities are.
