Madden 2010 News Post

We're having some export problems today - the ball keeps showing up rotated 90 degrees in the guys hands. In the meantime, I can show one run style that was slightly adjusted by Simon...this one is still in progress but I figured people would like to see it and give feedback.


Thoughts?

Also to compare, I uploaded the sprinter style (that no one seems to like)...this is the 09 version so hopefully I'll have a comparison video of the new one soon once we sort out Simon's export problems.

Yup. This smokes the crap they are showing us now. Why is EA digressing in such important areas? Why spend so much time on the presentation bullcrap, and not what actually goes down on the field?

It has been said numerous times before , the players look like they're lumbering . I don't know why it's so hard for EA to use the running animations from Madden 04?
Everything else in Madden 10 is looking very good though...

It's insane how 04 can be better than '10. I mean look at the intensity Holmes is showing in getting to the endzone. He's running for his life wheresa in Madden '10 they're like barely making it. The footplant was crazy, you could see him get low, then become angular, then get into full sprint. That was beautiful lol.

I'm with you on this. Next gen still ain't quite right. I'm going to wait to get Madden used this year. Don't get me wrong it all looks great, but I think I'll wait till 11' for a day one buy.

That is MILES better than the running animations now. Doesn't make sense to me either. Can they just take that animation and bring it to the current-gen code?

If there are different animations for running in Madden 10, it will all come together. The reason Madden 04 looks so good is because there was variable speed (actual analog control and making for a more fluid speed transition). Having just two animations doesnt cut it. You need at least three. Slow, medium, and sprint. In Madden 04 and the 2K games there is slow, medium, fast, and sprint.

LOL at how right this guy is. Can this post have its own thread. This is why next gen madden has never looked right. You just dont feel the energy of the players, they all look like they're jogging like school girls. Even the defenders looked like they were running with a purpose. If Ian and co. can add a running animation in a week they can definitely get it looking like this.

Here's my idea for a solution:

1. Bring analog speed back to the joystick (i.e. press lightly for slow, all the way for max non-speed bursting speed).

2. Dynamically link analog speed to posture and lean (slow is low, fast is higher posture)

3. Activate the "sprinter's stance" only when the user holds speed burst (e.g. you are running in the open field trying to break away from tacklers).

This would result in realistic postures and visuals for speeding up and slowing down, running in traffic and running away from traffic.

I showed some of the e3 videos to a couple of my friends. They pretty much said the game looks solid except that the animations still look robotic.

This is entirely based on the running animations. They are better than 09, but not by much.

Until they implement the system the used on last gen, there will always be feedback about the running animations. It is the first thing the viewer notices right from the kickoff.

Yo Ian if possible can you....

These Philadelphia Eagles could use some tweaking both in Body types & equipment...Just click on the links under each players name to view their individual Photo Galleries to see what I'm talkin about.

DT Mike Patterson #98 is too small & slender. He's a short stout,squatty wide body at DT.

DT Brodrick Bunkley #97 You could prolly just reverse Bunkley & patterson's body types. Bunkley looks like what Patterson should like & vice versa.

OL Todd herremans #79 is kind of on the slender side for an O-lineman

TE Cornelius Ingram #88 is ripped but kind of slender. He looks too bulky.

DT Dan Klecko #68 like Patterson is a short stocky wide body. he's too slender on the game.

Also will you be tweaking players equipment as well? Hopefully because I see some flaws w/ some of my Eagles pLayers. Here is a list & links to each players Photo Galleries as to what they should have equipment wise under ea. players name...remember please click throught the Galleries to see the exact details.
