First, no need to be rude.

Second, that's all well and good, but when you can still pull off the standard 20 yard drop, 80 yard throw off the back foot, what do those things get you? I want to be the first to say that Ian has made a tremendous effort, and there are months to go for improvements. But right now, seeing a nice pocket on a replay won't make me feel much better after a bomb like that. Definitely on the right track, but in terms of buying Madden 2010 (as opposed to '11 or '12) it doesn't yet look like it's there yet.

I just feel Madden lets too much arcarde like nonsense carry on in a game. It makes it feel more like blitz than a sim football game.

I agree somewhat with the whole let the player play the way they want to. Which is why I disagreed with fair play. BUT! If you were playing a shooter you would want someone just running around in circles and you not being able to kill them just because they like to run around in circles.
If Jimmy was able to do that on rookie than he should be playing at a higher difficulty level since he pulled that off.

I don't know if the majority of madden players go for it on 4th down (I never do unless it's late in the 4th qtr and I'm down). But I get what you are saying and to a certain point, the people who played 2k5 had more respect for the game since they didn't play the way that some people play madden.

So for the time being, it looks like we got caught with the Madden hype train once again.
lol... I just don't understand how so many of you are making complete final judgments on the game based on a video that a camera man taped in front of a TV that was edited down a bunch.

Statements like "we all got caught in the madden hype train" should be made after the final game is out. Because really.... there's still much more info to come out and there's a lot more tuning to go.

EDIT: For some reason I thought you were still talking about the video of Jimmy playing before the show. But like really you don't notice any new animations at all? Like you don't notice how the WRs actually go for the ball even if the pass is overthrown?

It would seem that since people criticized madden for the lack of these things in the past that people would notice them but it seems like some people are just bashing to do so...

Yeah, today it's on rookie. Tomorrow, it will be something EA needs to put on the 'fix it' list. In June, it will be an early build of the game. In August, it will be time to scratch off the '10 and insert '11 on the Wishlist.

I hope this will be a great game, something that plays like we see on Sunday. Still, he is dropping back way too far, and it was a one in ten catch. I want to hold my breath, but now I'm asking myself if it will be worth it.

lol... oh please.

It has been said by Ian himself that the vids PR release are on rookie.

It seems like you are acting like we are using it as an excuse (when it's the truth).

Every year I see people on here trying to justify the game. EA gives people an excuse like "it's an early build" or "we're working on it" and it ends up in the game anyways. If you haven't seen this, either you are just noticing Madden for the first time on next- gen, or you have an undying love for the punishment delt by EA every August.

What is all that going to mean when my opponent can still drop back 15 yards without penalty? What is all that going to mean when my opponent can just scramble to the right of said formed pocket? What is all that going to mean when I stop my opponent from 1st to 3rd down with great defense, yet my opponent still decides to go for 4th and long and makes it because of some ridiculous pass?

I'll tell you what it means to me and alot of other people. It means I would buy the game on hype, see a few good things and be looking to trade it in a month after purchase.

"Early build" isn't an excuse. It's the truth.... the game doesn't get finalized until usually June so how is "it's an early build" an excuse?

Ian has also fixed a lot of things on the fly based on feedback. The testers said that he fixed things right in front of them that they noticed was wrong with the game. Heck, even some things that people here on OS notice he fixed in a day or has said that he already noticed the problem(s) and that he was currently fixing them.

Like really... do you think that Ian and the rest of the team is using these last few weeks of development time doing nothing at all?

Even less impressed than I was after seeing the trailer.

At least they still have time.

Ian has fixed a lot already? I guess you do have an early build. Let me give you my address so you can send me a copy; I have some ocean front property in Arizona I can trade you for.

I would hope Ian and team have been working on the game, because I do want this game to succeed. I'm telling you from past experince with EA though that the ice is thin, and believing them is hard to do.

I hope they do, I really do. Until then though, 2k5 is king.

How is that in anyway hype?

PR sets in on rookie so that it's easier to show big time plays.

If anything, the game being on rookie mode is what creates the hype for the casual fans.

I really can't believe the statements some of you guys are making...

lol... have you been reading the blogs??

Problems that madden has had for close to a decade or more have been fixed. I really don't know what else to say if you don't believe that.

Big difference.

Ian wasn't in charge in the past.

Madden 07 was on rookie mode, and it was the best game ever.
Madden 08 was on rookie mode, and it was the best game ever.
Madden 09 was on rookie mode, and it was the best game ever.

All of the above statements are false, because when they dropped, there were multiple problems with them. People kept on saying "it's just on rookie mode" or "it's just an early build" and kept their hopes up. $180 and many tears latter, it still has the same problems from the past.

Do you get what I'm saying? I'm saying that every year we get fed the same excuses, and we keep coming up five yards short. I'm telling you, as well as the rest of the community, to not get your hopes up. If you do, you'll be another $60 poorer, and you'll be back on here next year saying that Madden 11 is "just on rookie mode"

My expectations are low so no problems there. I do have high hopes with the new team in charge.

Ok man I have never disrespected you so by you being so negative that just screams a butt hurt fanboy.

I don't care if it is on "rookie" because the core fundamentals are wrong and obviously still haven't been addressed. I couldn't pull that type of stuff on rookie in APF. What I'm saying is that if he can pull if off in rookie, I'm ASSUMING people will still be able to pull it off online.

Look when you play on rookie, you shouldn't be able to just call any play outta your *** and win. You should still have to play some football and call good plays. Rookie should be about teaching a novice player how to play on the higher levels. So let a player catch a slant route or a screen play but a long bomb after doing an unrealistic drop back, cmon!? But whatever, I'm just and idiot that hates Madden right?
