Post patch, is this game enjoyable? I'm trying to decide whether to purchase or not.

I've been reading through here and the reviews seem so mixed that I'm not really sure what to do. I'm dying for a baseball game, and don't own a PS3.

I think it's worth it, despite all its faults. The game is generally fun, and most of the time, the bugs can be worked around. I say give it a shot.

I love this game, the more I play it the more I like it. I've never played The Show, but I can't see how it could be "much" better than this game.

Cool, thanks. I'll give it a shot.

2k9 isnt a bad game and there are times that I do enjoy it but the Show is light years ahead of 2k9 in my honest opinion.

# 426 freezeframe @ 04/23/09 10:03 AM
Yes its light years ahead, everyone knows the show is king. Honestly you have 2 choices get a Ps3 or stick with 2k9. I would really hate to be in your situation but its your call friend!

How do you know if you have the 2nd patch? I just started playing 2k9 last Sunday on my 360. When I first loaded the game I was prompted for an update, so I assumed I had the latest patch? However, last night in a game I had 3 fly balls come down and hit the outfielders? They were easy fly balls.

Really stupid question,,but I still can't figure it out....

Can you save the camera view settings?? Can't figure out how to do that??

Also,,,if I'm playing the CPU in just a play game quick game, their is still no way to switch the cpu starting pitcher right?

Would this work.....having two controllers, control both teams, select the pitcher,,,start game, and slide the one controller over to cpu?

Thanks in advance.

You can do the controller trick or you can go to the roster screen and edit the CPU's pitching rotation. Move the Pitcher you want to face to the #1 spot.
Thanks for the info.

not bad but please add simulating the rest of the game in dynasty after playing a couple innings and changing players postions on your roster

Ive never played the show, so I can only go with what I know.

This is a very enjoyable game..I have fun playing it. Im using default all star, one month into my season and am perfectly content.

I turned gesture timing on and that has made pitching a very good challenge..they should have never gotten rid of it as the default set up.

It's harder to hit your spots with a guy who stinks...as it should be.

Out of the baseball games I have played, I would rank this a solid #3, behind MVP 05 and High Heat.

Wow.. just received my 360 back from MS - so AS default is now a good challenge? I played on default legend before the patch and my 360 RROD'd.

Kind of hard to read all of the posts in this thread but what is the consensus? Did the patch make this game playable? Or same ole stuff we have gotten from them and every other creator of sports game in the next gen.

Its impossible to get a common consensus on this game. Personally I've been swaying back and forth in terms of my opinion. Right now I can't stand the game but in a week or two I might pick it up and enjoy it for a couple of hours. I think the patch definitely improved things but there is obviously a lot of work to be done by the developers. Its possible to have a fun time with this game but that only happens if your approaching it with an open mind and can stop yourself nitpicking.

So true. I actually played one game where everything went well. And that was because it was a 2-1 low scoring affair. I was happy with the game and thought i can live with it.

The next game reverted back to the garbage that it is. I am winning 7-2 with both cpu runs coming off triples where my OF misplayed the ball. I was Ok so far until it happened 2 more times in one inning. It seems once your team gets rattled it only doubles/triples the problem. Plus, to top it off i had a runner trying to tag up out but 20 feet after the right fielder threw to the pitcher and then home. this WOULD NEVER happen in real baseball unless the guy was 80 years old.

to top it off my whole starting rotation is on the dl with finger injuries. i have to face it and put this game away forever and suck it up and buy a ps3. I would have done this last year but i keep waiting for 2k's "next year is the year" bs.

I'm getting similar results. Outfielder misplays seem to come in spurts. I went 6-0 until I had a game where in 2 consecutive innings the right fielder misses a line drive right at him. To compound that, I had 2 inninngs in a row where I had runners on base with 2 outs. In both situations I hit line drives to the outfield that end up falling in and the base runners automatically retreat to their bases despite me advancing them. It cost me at least 2 runs. I lost that game 3-2,

Why on my 5th game..the game freezes in the 5th inning?..I thought that was fixed in the patch.

# 438 Newfgamer @ 05/06/09 01:45 PM
People, make a second save slot, call in chise 2 or backup, save your chise here once in awhile (every 2-3 games), this well ensure you won't miss much of your chise if one save freezes. I do this always anyway, PC or console, thought this was common knowldege, fiels on Hard Drives get corrupted.

WOW, what a pile o crap, franchise is unplayable and broken, fielding is atrocious (Fielders only go in a straight line, cannot change it, they never charge grounders, terrible animations, etc), and u have this as a solid #3? I hope there are very few gamers like you around, if this is all it takes to please most gamers, you can forget ever getting a good baseball game. WOW. Game is terrible on default settings.

While some of those issues are true, sliders seem to make the game even worse...and why people say franchise is "unplayable," is beyond me...it clearly is playable, as I've played more than two months.

God forbid someone tries to enjoy a game that they spent $60 on...all some you do is whine, it's annoying. Just try to enjoy a game for once in your life...
