I'm frustrated this afternoon.

Pre-patch, I misplayed a ball to the outfield once during two dozen games. I misplayed three balls in two games this afternon. Ironic, I know.

I have no idea what to do.

I play MLB for franchise mode. I don't play it for online or exhibition. So the one thing I like doing in the game I can't even do cuz the 2k developers are so damn stupid that they can't even make a patch correctly. I had no freezing issues with the game before this patch.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Edit:
I just found out I can't play an exhibition game because it freezes in the same exact spot that it does in franchise. Wow this is flat out awesome. Now I can't even play the game! I absolutely cannot believe this.

I had the same problem 2 weeks ago...I couldn't even save it to the hard drive.

I took the disc to my local Game Crazy...they cleaned it...and thank god I could save it to my hard drive....no problems since as I only play it off the HD. Try saving it to the HD...and if it keeps freezing at the same spot...then go get it cleaned. Somehow my disc had a small scratch/blemish in it.

Funny you mention it Brendan....I am having the same experience fielding...more OF mistakes for me now then before patch...which wasn't many....although my offense just woke up on all-star default after a 3 game slump. It helps when I can get to the long/middle relievers.

Just got my first win of my franchise with a 8 inning 2 run, 4 k game out of pelfrey vs the brewers (default all star).

I was spinning a shutout, had a 2-0 lead, and should have yanked him as soon as I gave up a 2 out single, but noooooo. the next batter gets slams a 2 run homer.

I get the lead back and close it with K-Rod.

All of my previous gripes have been addressed from what I can see, but I am having a REALLY hard time stealing bases. I have 1 steal in 4 attempts with Reyes, and the caught stealings have been by a mile.

What am I doing wrong?

I am having the same problem stealing with Ellsbury. I am 1 out of 10 now with him. I have been in 3 run games in 11 of 14 games I have played post patch and it is not even worth it to try and steal now if it is just going to be an out.

It's much harder than it should be, even with speedsters such as Reyes. You pretty much have to get lucky and get a breaking ball because if it's a fastball, you'll almost always get gunned down. But even if you do run on a breaking ball, it's still way too hard to steal a base.

Wish there was a way to tweak it. Maybe they can fix it in a roster update.

Jeffy, it doesn't help when runners are clearly safe and called out.

Indeed. I don't even try to steal any more, which is sad

I've had zero fielding problems since the patch.

I know someone posted about the throws being so good to first now, almost too good.

WELL,,,,Although I've had zero outfield problems, I just saw the funniest thing I've seen in a baseball game yet. Maybe just a random a glitch but,,,,ground ball to Barmes at 2nd, gets down and backhands the hot shot ground ball, plenty of time to first, plants his feet,,,and fires the ball over Helton's head and into the stands, hahahaha, it wasn't even close it was way way over his head. Don;t know if I've ever seen that in a video game before, but I've seen it happen in baseball from time to time.

Has anyone had problems in online leagues still? My league sliders don't work and if they do save, everyone gets network errors when they start games.

Is there any way to get around the situation where you enter a pitcher at the very beginning of the inning and then can't do a mound visit? This has hurt me several times with closers. I thought the patch was supposed to fix substitution issues?

Also, has anyone had problems with cards since the patch? I can no longer access them from the pause menu in-game.

Dammmm I still hate the graphic glitch when they go to dug out and the players look like they are on a exulator at the mall bugs the heck out of me and there are still some bad glitches while base running i think .

Oh, life can be so cruel.

My outfield play was fine before the patch, now it's a mess. I now hit "A" as soon as a flyball is hit, and let the computer field it for me. Five games played today, and about five or six misplays.

I'm also re-learning how to pitch. CPU hitters can really crush curveballs now.

not crushing curveballs in my game. i pitched with Kevin millwood and had a shutout into the eighth cpu did have 7 hits up to this point but could not get big hit. seemed like everytime I needed big out I threw curve. Millwood was like oswalt when his curves on. The cpu finally got a hit o the curve in the 8th when I as at 92 pitches and stamina was in red. To me what I have seen so far curve is still to good.

Well I have to say that the patch fixed somethings but made some other worse in my opinion. Basically all I can see the pitch having fixed is the aggressiveness issue. But I saw the outfielder bug twice in the same game. Frustrated I decided to return it for the Show on PS2. I'll have to settle for last-gen graphics for good gameplay. I wish 2K would put some more effort into the only baseball game on Xbox.

I have found that some of my pitchers have around 2 pitches in which they can control well since the patch.

For instance, Brandon McCarthy was pitching, I couldn't locate a fastball to save my life...a few were crushed when they were located incorrectly. The same with the slider....brutal...kept hanging it over the plate.

So I threw my change and CB for strikes, and threw the FB up up up and mostly away just to show the pitch....and it mostly worked...pitching is must better and much more strategic post patch IMO.

The online mode is still flawed with a hr derby.

I guess they didn't fix the online rank hr fest.

anything over the plate is a homerun... six in a freaken row!!!

Maybe I didn't go to the right mode lol????

Since the 2nd patch came out i think this game has greatly improved. No more unrealistic pitch counts, no more 1st baseman coming off the bag( i would get 3 or 4 errors a game b/c of that) the CPU takes first pitch strikes, i have actually gott the CPU called out looking, from what i have seen the lag in the outfield is no more, i do see some lag in pop ups in foul grounds though.

the game to me before was a 7, this is easily a 9 for me now.
