I think you REALLY have to get the motion right now. I like it. Harder to make the exact pitch you want at the exact location. Makes you pay attention more.

Actaully went in and played a AAA game. It was fun. Homer Bailey is a beast at that level. Now 2-1 in Majors and 1-0 in AAA. Might actually play a lot of Minor League games. Learning to lay off the turbo button with fielding running to the ball and getting a feel for when to start pressing the throw button. Not a bad game, post patch. Really reminds me of MVP2004. Little tighter controls and it would actually be pretty good. It'll get some time in the Xbox....

I think the consensus is that the game is a lot better, if someone comments and its not better for them can they list what sliders they are using and what difficulty. Thanks everyone in here for having more sense than to just say the game sucks without stating the reasons like other forums.

Matt Stairs' signature style is getting his *** HAMMERED by guys after a clutch pinch hit. They can't put that in, they needed to keep the rating E for Everyone!

I am finally enjoying this game since the patch this morning. I have played a couple games and nothing really big to complain about yet.

I don't get what is so hard to figure out when it comes to sliders when the name of each slider and the section they are located at is enough.

But to each his own....keep killing your brains for no reason
Batter success affects a lot more than whether a ball falls in for a hit. The sliders affect more than just the obvious. We need someone who knows the guts of the programming to say exactly what each slider does.

But a big league pitcher can feel if they are releasing early/late, over extending, under torquing, etc. So I can understand the need for some indication of what part I am messing up.

However, I think the post patch pitching is definitely better than pre-patch and it is something that can be adjusted with sliders.

I can't hit worth a pooh after the patch with my sliders....

I wrote down mine, legend and all star I'm making a hybrid of those for now LOL

I actually think they got the "feel" pretty good. I can tell as soon as I let go of the pitch whether Ive snapped it off well, or unleashed an "uh-oh" pitch.

1 thing I've notice is the game is now very AI friendly on the higher levels. Not to mention the Gesture Slider while pitching as said is very sensitive.

I do like what the patch has done to the overall feel off the game. I am doing some tweaking to the Sliders & will post those tweaks in a couple of days

Really like most of things that were addressed.

HOWEVER, I'm finding it hard to now turn DP's. I never had a problem before but my guys don't seem to fire the ball around like they did prior.

Homeplate/ Base detection and tag-ups still "broke"

Hit a ball into the gap in left center, guy makes a running catch, I tag home, guy does not move home quickly, I try the hold down RS trick. OF fires to cut off on the run, cut- off fires a 1 hopper to the catcher. My front extended leg slid over the plate my bent leg just about touches the plate when the catcher catches the ball, I get CALLED OUT.

First the play should have never been that close the way he caught it and B) I was safe by A LOT.

Similar thing happened a 2nd.

Still overall very pleased, and need to remember to send my guy "early"

I have played 5 post patch games with some tweaks to the default legend sliders. I still have to get the hitting sliders a little better but here are my results. (I lost all 5 games). I am Boston.

Game #1
R H E
Red Sox 2 4 1
---------------------
Blue Jays 4 12 0

Game #2
R H E
Red Sox 2 10 0
---------------------
Blue Jays 3 7 0

Game #3
R H E
Red Sox 0 7 0
---------------------
Rangers 4 9 0

Game #4
R H E
Red Sox 4 9 2
---------------------
Rangers 7 10 0

Game #5
R H E
Red Sox 2 8 2
---------------------
Rangers 5 7 0

To me it is good overall on the CPU offense side. I just need to work on the HUM offense side.

Also I have a little problem in my franchise after the patch. I have two brad penny's and two jon lester's. The fatigue is always the same for both of them. Just kind of quirky if you ask me. I haven't tried to do anything to get rid of "extras yet". Just weird.

Should I delete my game from the HDD and then reinstall the game for the patch 2. Or dos it make any difference....The game runs smoother anyways on the HDD.

I'm ready to start my franschise, haven't played 2k9 for 1 month. Here we go!!!!!!

You don't need to delete. I didn't, and the patch works just fine.

MLB 2K9, post-patch, is a B/B+ game. I'm thrilled.

I still wish they would fix the sub issues with the pitchers. I can only change pitchers right at the beginning of inning (as opposed to making that decision while I'm at-bat). Then I can't do a mound visit with my reliever until the next inning. I think its kind of a pain.

I also can't access my cards during the game. I like to monitor what it is I need to do. Minor gripe.

Overall I like the changes. I like the way that my pitches aren't always perfectly placed. They also fixed the D walk grades for batters - or so it appears in my limited experience with the patch.

This IS a game, and even w/ MLB2K8 knowing the gesture didn't make pitching any easier w/ the slider set I was using.

I was throwing fastballs which were moving what seemed a foot away from where I was locating the pitch. Again...fastballs, a fairly easy gesture, and w/ Joe Blanton who locates his fastball rather well. He's been my best pitcher so I can't imagine what it will be like pitching w/ Cole Hamels; who've I've been getting killed with.

It was probably my sliders, w/ the gesture slider maxed out. I cut it in half though, and things were a little better.

As for DP's, I got two to end the 1st and 2nd inning against the Nats; which had been a first for me so far.

Did have an issue running the bases, and I don't know what to make of it.

Situation was Blaton, who led off the inning, hit a texas leaguer into shallow left. Then Rollins doubled off the LF wall, and I never tried sending Blanton home BUT he turned third and was tagged out by Zimmerman.

Did he overrun the bag? Was this what that was supposed to simulate?

Or was it just a glitch of somekind? It looked like Blanton's foot never even left the bag, and the Nats fielder just threw to third as a precaution, not trying to actually get him out.

I tried to view the replay, but you gotta be quick on that; I was unsuccesful.

Tried stealing w/ Werth too, and was thrown out by a MILE. He was ONLY halfway down the basepath by the time the throw came. This is with baserunner speed at 60. Can't imagine having to go higher.

Just installed the patch.

Positives:

The animations seem much smoother, especially the batter walkups.

Outfield plays are smoother.

No more 1st base glitch.

Pickoffs are much better now.

Negatives:

AI seems a little less aggressive, but still too aggressive. However, I'm guessing this has to do with the fact that I probably suck at the gestures I turned the gesture slider down and it seems better, but still not quite right. I also tried switching to classic pitching and that didn't help either. I'm still getting low pitch counts and not very many strikeouts, even though I'm nibbling the corners.

Maybe sliders will help? I'm just using stock All Star right now.

I have baserunner speed at 90 and I have only stolen 1 out of 6 bases with ellsbury. I think you HAVE TO steal on an off speed pitch. All 6 of my attempts were on fastballs or pitch outs. The only one that was successful was on a bad throw.
