All the NEW Sliders interact with each other & not knowing how they effect each other is what's frustrating:

Inside Edge Influence
Pitcher Handedness
Batter Success

Game plays much smoother. On default sliders, I had the CPU take a bunch of strikes, had 2 called 3rd strikeouts.

Seems to be little if no slowdown on flyball outs.

Game just feels much better overall, and I had fun playing it pre-patch. Now to start my franchise.

I've played two games with the patch. I was disappointed after my first, but feel much better about my second.

There a two big changes on the pitching side. First, the gesture is far more sensitive. User-thrown pitches can end up all over the place. There is a catch, though. The computer is more likely to swing at what it things is a poorly thrown pitch. When you do nail the motion, though, the computer will take. I've seen some terrific at-bats and have a real fear of screwing up against opposing hitters. User-issued walks are entirely possible, especially if you want to avoid grooving one to a great hitter.

Fielding is definitely smoother, in both the infield and outfield.

And, this cannot be understated -- the smooth transitions into batting stances (no more "snap") us beautiful and allows Signature Styles to shine through.

With the patch, MLB 2K9 is head and shoulders above 2K8. It's a solid B+ game in my opinion, and will carry me through the baseball season (easily). It also excites me for the prospects of the series.

Visual Concepts is taking the MLB 2K franchise seriously, and it shows.

Thanks...can't wait to get home and load it up!
Confirmed. lol, haven't had the issue once, OR the 1B issue.

Just competed my first ACTUAL FULL game (10 innings actually).

Yankees 2 vs Twins 0 (cpu)

Took me until the 10th to score any runs (PLAYING ON DEFAULT LEGEND SLIDERS). Things I noticed, there was hardly ANY offense throughout the entire game, I had 10 hits (in 10 inn) and ALL of them were singles. They had 5 hits, all were singles.

Players in the field were far too fast, and it is still too hard to get any K's.

Here are my pitchers stats (lol)...

A.J. Burnett: 9 IP, 2 H, 1 BB, 5 K (89 pitches between the 2)
M. Rivera: 1 IP, 3 H

S. Baker: 10 IP, 10 H, 2 ER, 1 K (59 pitches in 10 innings lol)

Guys. Please start with default sliders on whatever level you are playing on to get a feel for the game "out of the box" now, post your impressions, then start tweaking sliders. The old sliders you were using aren't going to work the same (I would imagine). It doesn't make sense to me to give impressions based on sliders that will need to be changed most likely.

I really think this would be more beneficial, but just my opinion. I am really trying to decide if I want to buy this game as a second baseball game since I have The Show. I liked some things I saw on the demo, but just couldn't get over the CPU batting aggressiveness problem. Is it better?

How does MLB 2K9 now compare to MLB 2K8? Is it definitely better?

For what it's worth, here are my impressions.

I played a full 9 inning game with the Sox vs. the Rays. (Finally got my franchise started.) Beckett lasted 7 innings, and I struck out 7 and walked 3. The most important part of this? I took out Beckett because has was at pitch 98 and started getting tired. Yup... I threw 98 pitches in 7 innings. Awesome.

I threw out ~10 batters at first and never had the glitch.

I caught the other 11 outs in the outfield and never had any problems with the outfielders.

At the plate I got 6 hits and drove in a run off a single + steal with Jacoby and a follow-up single from Dustin.

All in all, I ended up losing the game 2-1 off a string of hits by the Rays off Saito and Okajima.

This is all with on the All-Star setting, so no custom sliders. I would definitely say the patch has worked wonders for me. The last game I played I won 15-1 with no strikeouts and 7 homeruns on the All-Star settings (same teams involved). I'm a very happy camper.

ok i downloaded the patch this morning. works great. the outfielders and infielders were fluid, and had no problems with fly balls. ai was still a bit aggressive, but i think it was because i wasnt doing the motion correctly. the only thing that sucks is that it froze, and when i triedto turn it back on i found that i had the red ring of death. now it will take 3 weeks to get it back. ugh,i just waited a month to startmy franchise, and now i have to wait more weeks.

I'm with you Joe...It's a little more complicated than Guru has put it, IMO.

Something that I'm noticing that I don't like is where my pitches are landing. I don't want to pinpoint pitches by any means, but I've noticed through just an inning and 2/3 that when I try and place a FB on the outside (or inside) of a batter it gets that fat part of the plate more often than not; Dunn just jacked a solo shot on me because of it.

Making everything for USER pitching at 50 and going from there.

But to add to what you were saying. Have you noticed that when you pasue the game, go into pitcher subs, and look at the top rh corner at the player info - there's a control rating.

Now look at your player card (RS), and there is not one. Since I have Joe Blanton on the mound right now I can't see what is actual control rating is, but I CAN see it for my other P's who are not in the game.

That's the patch.

I've already found a problem. I just did a fantasy draft which finally didn't freeze so that got fixed. However I went to the trade screen and you cant switch to any of your minor league teams to trade players. The trade I did was Edmonds, Thames, and Okajima for Soriano and Weathers. Instead of Edmonds or Thames I wanted to see if they would take a young prospect from AAA. Well I couldn't find out because you can't switch to the minor leagues. Looks like there won't be any combining of MLB players with minor league players in a trade.

I believe to switch to the minor leagues you push in the LS. It said it in the help screen at least. If I'm doing something wrong please tell me.

HUGE ... WTF by the CPU...

Ok. B3rd, 1-1 gm. Jason Bergman pitching for Nats (CPU), and has thrown 36 pitches and struck out 3 thru 3. He just got pulled for PH Josh Willingham because the #8 batter for the Nats got on base w/ a single.

I've seen the CPU pull pitchers early pre-patch, but that was because the score had been much higher or I had a 2/3 run lead and the pitcher had thrown around 50 or so pitches.

This is just ridiculous.

I am reposting this in the 360 thread since the majority of games with 2k are with the 360.
================================================== =

For those still having trouble with the OF glitch. To aleviate this let your AI do the work for you. Do not touch the controls. On high fly balls the AI will either completely settle under it and make the catch, or sometimes they run close to the landing spot and stop short of it, in this instance you have to finish the rest and move the OFer under the fly ballto finish the play. It takes practice but this has worked very well for me. I have not had balls go over my head or hit me in the head or anything silly like that.

On balls you have to come in to charge, again, let the AI go after it for you.

The problem is still on line drives where you have to go to your left or right, in these cases youj ust have to hope for the best and hope your OFer either makes the catch or if he doesnt let, hope the ball does not get behind him.

Letting the AI do the work for me has helped this problem a great deal, unfortunately there are still going to be instances where a ball that should be caught will drop in and it will potentially wreck your game. i guess that is something you have to decide if you want to put up with. Maybe with some more complaining 2K will release another patch for this

Post Patch im really starting to like this game. I found a good set of sliders to tone down the AI hitting. Im getting called 3 strike outs and what I like most is i am getting TONS of foul balls by both myself and the AI. I had a pretty cool pitching duel with Bengie Molina, with 2 strikes he fouled off 5 pitches.

mY OTHER minor gripe with the game is the pitchers hit the ball a little too much. But I guess i have tos tart paying more attention when they are up

This game is SO CLOSE to being awesome you can smell it. Hopefully next year.

Will you please post the sliders you are using?

Called a pitch a little inside, and next thing you know hits hitting Zimmerman in the shoulder - it's like Rick Ankiel is pitching out there.

Still seeing top fielder 216.

I am still working on them so i wont post them yet. While I did tone down the AI hitting bombs and scoring tons of runs they are still getting too many overall hits. They are averaging about 12 a game on me, i want to try to get that down to the MLB avg which is around 9 per. If I accomplish this Ill post the set.

I am also still working on the user hitting. I cant hit for power.

What are you having trouble with and ill maybe give you what I am currently using?

Will you post your sliders? I'm just trying to get a base set to post impressions with. I don't care if they're dead accurate, I just don't want to use default settings.

What I noticed and think is sweet is that every curveball I throw has different results. Sliders will hang if you throw them over the plate, but if you hit the corners with them they move just as they should. I did have one line drive that I thought I had lined up fly over Rick Ankiel's head in LF, but other than that; it's playing nicely.

However, I still noticed players diving/sliding/walking through each other though. I thought collision detection was going to be addressed in this patch?
