"VG247 has learned that Microsoft intends to release Forza 3 as one of its major 360 titles this holiday.

The game has never been confirmed by the company, although it was heavily involved in the Intellisponse leak fiasco last June.

Intellisponse marketing concepts hinted that the game may feature a Collector’s Edition, DLC, over 100 tracks and 400 cars."

Turn 10 Weekly Pit Pass Report

Quote:
"All this blood and sweat translate into what anyone here at Turn 10 can download to our Xbox 360s on a daily basis -- ever-improving builds of our new game, which, isn't just shaping up to be greedy handfuls of eyecandy, but is also proving to be really fun and addictive as well. In fact, the test team has already thrown down the gauntlet here at Turn 10 with weekly challenges to find out who's the fastest in the studio. Trust me, it's not a challenge to be taken lightly around here and folks have been taking turns stepping up to the task in the team space and setting lap times in the public team space with force feedback wheel in hand. Me? I'm hungry for more eyecandy. Every new build brings delicious new ways to consume the gorgeous assets in the game. Too much of a good thing? Pfft... yeah right.

But we here at Turn 10 also live in dual-realities. On the one hand, we're working hard on our new game. Lots of cool stuff happening behind the scenes and awesome features are getting implemented here and watching the project evolve in real-time before my eyes makes me feel really privileged."

Can someone upload a video showing a pitstop?

# 242 Flawless @ 10/13/09 01:46 PM
I'm sure you could search for one on Youtube, but there's really nothing worth watching.

Pit Stops have been the same since Forza 1 - boring, lifeless, involve no strategy, and you don't have control over what happens.

Bummer

You don't have to watch it in a video - play the demo. The pits are right at the 90 degree turn onto the front straight. Bang your car up on the first lap and then try it out yourself.

Preordered this for 52.99 on Newegg the other day w/ free shipping. They've sent a few games early in the past so I'm hoping I get it before the 27th.

Oh man, I always forget about Newegg. They always have preposterously low prices on games. 53 bucks? SOLD.

Ended up preordering Limited Eidition. Figured I'd probably kick myself afterwards if I didn't, so figured I might as well. Trying to sell some games on eBay to be able to finance that, LOL. But I'm sure in the long run that I'll be able with the LE.

Terry, I have the MS wheel as well. Are you able to setup the d-pad to look left/right? This was something missing from F2

I just got an e-mail fromWalmart.com, informing me that my order for Forza 3 has shipped! The tracking information says the order was shipped today, and that I should receive it between 10/21/09 and 10/23/09. It's coming via UPS Mail Innovations, which is slow, but cheap ($2.47).

The last two orders I placed for games through Walmart.com have arrived one and two days before the first arrival , who ordered from Walmart.com, got the same e-mail from them today. I could be playing Forza 3 as early as Monday! It looks to me like Walmart.com might have goofed and jumped the shipping date, but I'm not going to tattle on them

Forza Pitpass Report: Benchmark High Speed Ring

Quote:
Imagine that you’ve just ripped the packaging off your copy of Forza Motorsport 3. Alongside the two disc set filled with 400 cars and 100 tracks you see an Xbox LIVE redeem code card tucked nicely inside. The contents? 10 of the most classic cars to grace the planet and a free pass to Turn 10’s massive automotive playground known as the Benchmark High Speed ring.

We’ve already divulged the cars that are available as downloadable content (DLC) on day one here. Below you will learn about the history of this incredible track and what it means for our community. Sit back, relax and get ready to check out the ultimate driving playground as envisioned by Turn 10 Studios!

Benchmark High Speed Ring is an over-the-top driving venue that offers a schizophrenic array of automotive challenges. There are 16 track configurations to burn rubber on: seven dedicated circuits (forward and reverse) and two dragstrips.

At 3.96 miles Benchmark’s huge oval, reminiscent of OEM test tracks with high-degree banking, is the longest in FM3. The facility was originally conceived as a top speed test venue. And the story could have stopped there but the track’s art lead Terrance Newell, a Forza community member an avid player saw the open space inside the super speedway as an opportunity to think outside the box. The genesis was Ken Block’s Gymkhana video. “We watched those Ken Block videos like every other day,” says Newell. “When I saw the Gymkhana Practice video I was like, wow, I want that. I want to be able to do that in our game.” Turn 10s Rhett Mathis and Dan Greenawalt supported the project early in development as it spread its wings.

“I have these two big open areas I am trying to make sense of visually and that’s tough” explains Newell. “We got a directive make this thing wide open without anything on it but make it awesome. Visually how do I make a big flat plane not look like a big flat plane? I talked with Turn 10’s Landin Williams whose also part of Project Blackjack about what would take it to the next level. I came away with the idea that tracks had drift zones that always limited the possibilities. Benchmark was limitless, opening up the door to a pure style of drifting. I decided to take simple elements like tires and cones etc. and make them objects not obstacles. These elements are interacted with…not avoided. It’s a freestyle playground and drift scoring is not the emphasis of this track. Benchmark breaks the rules of track design; it’s a venue where player can go mess around and experiment without the constraint of a lap timer.”

One of the coolest aspects of the track are the numerous inconspicuously placed drift obstacle/challenges Newell cleverly sprinkled throughout the facility for players to explore and utilize as they see fit. Further with the strategic placement of replay cameras Newell expects to see some wicked ‘Forzakhana’ videos come from Benchmark.

Benchmark’s dragstrip venue also goes one step beyond. Newell, who was collaborating with the Forza design team heavily to develop the tracks layouts, was approached by Greenawalt with the idea of drawing from the raw ‘run what you brung’ attitude of the “Pinks” TV show. The strip at Benchmark is eight lanes wide with four sets of Christmas trees and no excuses.

Overall Benchmark is way for Turn 10 to give something back to its online community. From conception this course has been designed as a development lab where players can stretch their imaginations and create new, never-before seen game types or really enjoy demo derby, tag, cat and mouse and other multi-player game types.

Sorry I hadn't checked this thread in a while. No, you can't. That irritates me, too. I couldn't do it in Shift, and I can't do it in F3. The mirrors are generally pretty good, but it sure would be nice for when cars are in your blind spots to see whether they're completely next to you or not.

Terry you should try this. I would really like to know if there's any drop in framerate from doing this.

Anyone who feels down in the cockpit view, too far forward, you can change the seat position with a little trick. Is this in Forza Motorsport 3 in "My Profile" and then "multiple monitors". A setting of levels between the screens "your seat position changes. The higher is this value, the further back you sit.

The setting is 62 degrees, which appears to be the sweet spot.

Complete settings:

Multiscreen - On
Mode - Host
Channel - 0
View - Center
Degrees Hidden - 0
Degrees between screens - 62

That is freaking hot. If there is no issue running this then it begs to ask why you have to even set it on multiple monitors to get this option.

I'm so happy this car made it into the game. I had a red 1987 one myself back in the day and it should be fun to tune and paint the beast up.

These settings do indeed work, and well. Nice find.

Does it affect the other camera views as well? Such as outside the car and what not.

According to what I read at Forzamotorsports.net, you can change the angle, but not the distance in the exterior view. Don't now about the bumper and hood cameras though. Somewhere in the 62 to 70 degree cockpit range looks like it will do the trick for me - this is a welcome bit of news!
