Ok a couple questions since I am downloading the demo and haven't played it yet.

1. I take it that it is a true zone hitting system this year. Correct? One of my biggest issues with 08 was the hitting was too easy no matter what sliders I used.

2. Is the pitching a little more challenging with the meter this year?

Alright, after my comments last night. I played a few more games. I am enjoying the game more. I still think I am getting it day 1. I still wish it was a little different in some aspects, but I still appreciate it for what it is.

I don't like once I get into the catch region area, the cpu takes over for my fielder. Kind of takes the fun of dealing with the wind out of play.

Yep, that's one of my biggest problems with the game.

1) If you want a PURE zone hitting experience go to legend and put contact at 0. This doesn't mean that all balls you make contact with will be bloops and such, but this slider determines how effective you can make contact with the ball. Definitely not like past year's sliders. So on legend and contact at 0.....the pitch is high and outside and you swing middle and outside it will be a whiff. But if you do make a swing that is accurate and have good timing, you will belt the ball. This is probably the biggest gameplay change this year if you ask me....

makes the hitting feel much more organic and much much harder

2) Yes meter is harder to execute this year....harder to hit the perfect line and even if you do sometimes the pitch goes for a ball.

What's pretty cool is I played with the Phillies every single game and I can hit Kazmir pretty good. I just faced Hamels for the first time and he owned me. I got 1 hit in the 4 inning 1-0 loss against him. His line was as follows:

4.0 ip, 1 hit, 1 bb, 5 k's, 0 er

He had my timing all off.

I don't play on a HDTV so maybe I can pick up on pitch grips with a good high def picture but one thing that's bothering me is differentiating the high heat and a breaking ball down in the zone. I have no way of really telling the difference but it honestly can just be my piece of junk 19" SDTV.

Can any of you guys with HDTV's pick up on the pitch grips or anything like that??

19" TV Dave? You might as well be viewing the game through a porthole! LOL

You can definitely see the pitch grips better on a HDTV.

they made the bat speed significantly faster this year.

You can either adjust your own timing, or raise the pitch speed.

That's cool nem. Yeah 19" it's pretty bad LOL. I'm ready to buy a HDTV but I am really lost when it comes to video games. I am not going to trust a salesman at a store. I am not sure about native resolution and how that can effect framerate. I just want a HDTV that is going to have no input lag or the very minimal amount. I was thinking about a 32" LCD 720p possibly. What do you have and do you experiment any lag??

Was playing today and had a guy on 1st with no outs. Ball hit to second baseman, underhands to the SS (out#1) then throws to first but too high and goes in the dugout. The batter is now standing on 3rd.

Pretty sure you can only advance to second on that play. Also I realize it is an early build but that might be something that you don't see very often so I wanted to post it in case the devs never saw this before.

When we were in SD it took a few games before I got the timing down. The timing is totally different between 08 and 09.

I have a Panasonic LCD, very happy with it, no lag at all for me.

Rule 7.05 f -g

(f) Two bases, if a fair ball bounces or is deflected into the stands outside the first or third base foul lines; or if it goes through or under a field fence, or through or under a scoreboard, or through or under shrubbery or vines on the fence; or if it sticks in such fence, scoreboard, shrubbery or vines;

(g) Two bases when, with no spectators on the playing field, a thrown ball goes into the stands, or into a bench (whether or not the ball rebounds into the field), or over or under or through a field fence, or on a slanting part of the screen above the backstop, or remains in the meshes of a wire screen protecting spectators. The ball is dead. When such wild throw is the first play by an infielder, the umpire, in awarding such bases, shall be governed by the position of the runners at the time the ball was pitched; in all other cases the umpire shall be governed by the position of the runners at the time the wild throw was made;

....and I don't believe he can be awarded first base on that play...so he is ruled safe and then given two bases...(I'm pretty sure)

I don't have fast play on and I don't remember if this was the case last year. Can someone tell me if this happens to you, or if it's the demo or for that matter any other reason for the occurrence.

Anybody have and clue? Sorry if doing this bothers anybody. I am just wondering what's up.

you share that sentiment with everyone in AAA and lower in real life!

Anyone notice when running after a pop-up in the outfield the fielder seems to jog after it? I had this happen a couple times, he was jogging, then at the end he finally started running then it was to late to get there.

my bad, you joined a year ago...I apologize for that

but I don't apologize for everthing else I said because you don't have any idea of what you're talking about. And furthermore, it's ALL your fault when you don't take a proactive role to get your sliders tight and your gameplay up to snuff

you're right, you need to stop puffing and man up!

PS: THEY will tell you that they worked about the issue of non extra basehits...I have and they have....and you left out a few prominent guys. Knight and I have worked together, so you're late...real late

THIS YEAR YOU GET MORE OF A VARIETY OF DOUBLES!!!!!!! which is more like real baseball!!!!!!!!! the fielders act like humans and not superman. thats ALL im saying dude. jeeeeez.
