We wanted to give you some details on what’s included in the patch. We listened to the community feedback very closely, and although we couldn’t get everything we wanted to in the patch due to size limitations (like beluba said earlier), we do think we’ve addressed some key issues.

* The reception of NCAA Basketball 09, from a gameplay perspective, has been really good. Part of the luxury of being on the same engine for our basketball franchises is that we can differentiate between the two, but through the patch process, we’re able to get some of the really good things that the NCAA Basketball 09 team did. We addressed a lot of the gameplay complaints that you guys had including tuning shooting percentages, both overall and in contact situations, so that you’ll have a more realistic shooting percentage outcome. We also made some quick strike ballhandling, analog passing (logic and receptions) and jostle improvements.

* The number one thing we were able to address was the responsiveness with block animations.

* We adjusted the skill level of OTP to All-Star, so with lowered shooting percentages and a higher skill level, you should have a much improved OTP experience. Speaking of OTP, you’re now able to see the “Scouting” tab to look at position leaders (not just the GMs). We bumped up the club search window to 60 seconds so that you’ll have a better opportunity to find a club to play against.

* You’re now also able to put headbands on NBA players, and the team color accessory bug has been fixed.

* Teams with alternate home jerseys are now wearing their HOME shoes instead of their away.

* There are other under the hood things included in the patch (like the autosave in FIBA mode now working) that we won’t go into, but we’re pretty confident that you’ll notice a difference in NBA LIVE 09.

Thanks for your support!

I dont care Walker. Whine in a pm or whatever, but steph doesnt run OS. OS has rules and this is the 2nd or 3rd thread having to be made because of the thread being derailed because of posts like yours taking it too far off topic.

You've done enough of this and that was the final warning as stated on page one. Next time you have no more warnings

1 question:
Been playing Live for a few weeks and really like it. Today however the game will not load at all. If I don't load a profile up the game loads and I can play a Play Now game etc.. However as soon as I load a profile (and I've tried different profiles) the game locks up and I have to reboot the system. So I ran to EBGmaes and exchanged it for a different copy and the same thing: No profile loaded and eveything is fine - Load a profile and it locks up.
What could have happened in 1 days time to cause this?

Also what exactly does a profile load into the game so I can start trouble shooting. I can not believe I could play the game fine less that 24 hours ago and now it locks up.

Update: Profiles work until you set it one up as a lead profile then Lock city. This is with any profile. So whatever is loaded up when a profile is set as lead is causing the lockup.
I've deleted the game and cleared the cache and redownloaded the update etc...

Update 2: I have no f'n clue whats going on. Now profiles will work but my main profile does not. As soon as I set Skyboxer OS as the lead profile the game locks up.

Update 3: Right now it turns out to be the rosters that were tied to my profile was the problem. Not freezing right now.

NBA live post patch impressions.

The game feels even more solid. but it's still rooted in limited animation sets along with some bad animation fluidity at times.

defense DOES feel right though. with the existing engine they've been able to do a slight tweak to the urgency in which players now defend which is nice.

the crowd still looks like it's at a different framerate though even after a install to HD? thats very annoying to see the sidel;ines etc just kinda stutter...

Arms still don't go up when trying to defned though. say i want to immediately put my hands up I can not. BUT the defense in general looks like they pressure the ball handler much much more...

All in all... simpley better tuned/refined with what they originally released.

NBA Live 09 is a really great game. It has all the elements of basic NBA basketball and a bit of the EA flare that has been lost from EA titles for awhile. Arguebly the best EAsports title this year.

Upon further inspection I believe the defensive matchups does work, or it's works randomly. Just played a Lakers bandwagoner and made a switch to put Prince on Bryant and much to my surprise...he was actually guarding him the whole game. Now mind you the guy I was playing didn't move him from the 2 spot so I'm not sure how the matchups is effected if he would have put him in another position. But after that adjustment it was completely lockdown from there on out. I absolutely love the defensive pressure given from a good defender.

After the game, Bryant 3-18 13pts.

Side note, EA you need to put in over the back calls for 2010. Too many people are able to simply jump over the the guy in front of them for the rebound every time. It's almost as it getting a rebound from the behind is the best position to be in. Fix this with over the back calls so users won't simply be able to just keep pressing the jump button to get rebounds. It would really be more of a time based function with a risk and reward factor.

The patch is out for xbox 360. Am I right???

On which position should I put the shooting options to get the best FG%???
I mean short-,middle- and long-distance shots.

I absolutely hate this patch! Coming form a strictly online gamer, this is really low! The missed layups are absolutely killing OTP mode. I have guys (including myself) who just get so, so fed up with easy, easy layups getting missed. Sometime as many as 4 in a row. Non contested, no contact etc. It's ridiculous. And as far as the FT's go, could they of made them any easier? There is no difference now shooting with Shaq or Ray Allen or Nash etc. It's pointless, 2 free points at the line. With the exception of the new blocking animation which is a welcomed feature, the rest of this patch gets a huge, huge thumbs down!!

1. Rebounding - very good and definitely varied. Improved from the patch.

2. Defense in General - Much improved. Shots are contested much quicker and a nice amount of blocks...Help defense is solid and the contested shots lead to more fouls...There is a downside to this that I will address in #3.

Big men still seem to have trouble getting back on D as there will be spurts and exploitation by users simply inbounding quickly and throwing additional pass to a C or PF that has routinely beaten his defender down Court. It amazes me how Eddie Curry beats Amarie Stoudamire

Baseline D - This was another exploit from Live 2008 that appears to have crept back into this version. The patch did nothing to Baseline D because its likely there is limited knowledge about the baseline problem...Now I will say you can D up the baseline manually but often its hard to almost impossible to stop when someone is dead set on abusing it...Maybe this is more of a cheese vs No Cheese thing because personally I might go to the baseline within the flow of the game but I will not go to that tactic 25 times in a row or even two times in a row. I tend to want to run a play or set screens.

3. Free Throws (FT's) - Probably the lowest point of this game that has a snowball affect on strategic elements of the game. What I mean is pre-patch FT's were already way too easy. Now Post Patch its almost ridiculously easy. And I mean easy in the WORST way possible because now its almost impossible for anyone to miss a FT. Shaq can now play down the stretch with no fear of him touching the rock or getting HACKA SHAQ'D...This unfortunately destroys an element of strategy in close games where FT's may play a role.

ON the other end of the spectrum a contested shot resulting in 2 FT's is now a complete waste of time even watching the animation because there is no way anyone is missing a FT...Hell..I even tried closing my eyes and I still hit both FT's.

ONLINE ADJUSTMENTS: Why and or how do I get to my defensive slider adjustments???...They never show up until the 3rd or 4th quarter...Is there a way to get to them at will or do I simply have to wait until they magically appear???..help a brutha out someone

LAG & LATENCY - For me..next to none...almost every game I play is butter smooth...No I'm running with Verizon FiOS and that may have something to do with it but it seems to me that EA has finally solved the online connectivity issues that once plagued all of their next gen titles. The last 2 years of Online play for EA games has been stellar/much improved.

OVERALL GAMEPLAY - Pretty solid...outside of the FT's I'm pretty darn happy with this game..A patch to fix the FT's and I'd have to say LIVE is well on its way to the top..Of course the other criticisms by others are valid as well...LIVE is a decent game this year...better than average but it still has a ways to go...No doubt this iteration of LIVE leaves any pure hoop fan hopeful for the future. But just like many have said I was expecting this game in 2006...I'm also growing a little tired of the ole EA slogan we sell ourselves "Wait until next year"
The game is much more playable now. The pace is faster and feels less resistant of player movements. The fast breaks are still there. Mostly an AI flaw. I scored 26 points in the 1st quarter! Thats a ton for me. Shots in the paint seem still too high. The person shot 60% mostly just doing fastbreaks, running baseline and just jamming the x button. FT are wayyy to easy and should be changed asap. Overall i think this has improved the online play experience and the game in general.

It isnt that you cant get back all the time, its the fact that the man your controlling doesnt move at all if your trying to go over and defend someone on the break. Most of the time your guy is in a back pedaling or shuffling his feet animation and you cant move him at all. I be about to break my left stick cause I be trying to move in the direction of the person thats on the break but they will not move at all!!!

# 69 bls @ 12/01/08 05:39 AM
Well I wouldnt really call them fastbreaks there more just long passes up the court for an easy 2 and if after a made basket most of the time. Im not sure how your able to switch to the closes man and move him because on my game if somebody throws the ball all the way up the court and say for instance Wallace is back ( I run with the Pistons) when I switch to him and try to move over to the person that has the ball going towards the basket I CANNOT MOVE WALLACE. Im not sure what other way to put it. He's STUCK in either one of those shuffling or back pedaling animations. Its like even though I switched to him it feels like the CPU still has him. Theres like a force shield there or somethin nothing at all I can do.

And even if i just let the CPU try to stop the guy goig towards the basket they dont even bother going over there either, there still looking for there man. Thats the best way I can put it. If anyone or you know of some software I can use to record my games online just let me know and Ill get the material needed to record it and show you.

Try with the Point Guard, run into your paint and put infront the big man who will receive the pass.
This can be very usefull, believe.

Yeah this helps sometimes. But alot of times there big is already down the court before the pg can get there. And it's not possible on missed buckets.

Then if the user is boring with his style:
When the point guard cant do it call the intencional foul to stop the easy BIG MEN fastbreak, i know that it is no sportmanship but is a real basketball tactic. (Run the easy BIG MEN fastbreak is not a real basketball tactic)

I bought the game over the weekend, so I have nothing pre patch to compare it to. Really liking it though and want to keep playing it so that I get better. Right now I am terrible at D, and still learning the play calling nuisances.

I can easily see myself playing this for a while. It is a little rough in some areas, but very realistic to the real NBA game IMO. With Beluba on board and the Live team getting our feedback, I am very excited to see what can be done in the future.

I would rent it first. I wouldn't trade 2k in until after the patch.

# 76 23 @ 12/01/08 02:23 PM
renting it assures him of no DNA and no patch though right?

# 77 Jano @ 12/01/08 07:01 PM
I know he can still get the patch with a rental because thats through xbox live but DNA won't be available unless you buy it new or over xbox live.

# 79 Muzyk23 @ 12/02/08 06:07 PM
Default. I only upped the foul sliders.

# 80 taqiyya @ 12/02/08 10:39 PM
Same here I am playing default sliders with 9 min qts on Allstar. I am happy with the 3 games I have played so far. Thank you EA this is tight
