Others have touched upon the commentary... that's known already. Play-calling looks to have more options in Live... only because there is a Logo above more than one guy during a play.
That is NOT the only reason why Live's play calling system looks better. Take of your glasses Pared. Seriously man

He's speaking in absolutes, which is obscuring the point. The AI didn't play exactly the same from team to team, but when you take certain factors into consideration:
-lead passing
-late shot clock jumpers
-back door cuts
-lack of off the dribble shooting
-obscure player hot streaks
-robotic application of double teams
-lack of attampts to draw charges

Those are things that all of the CPU teams did last year, and those tendencies did bring teams closer together in similarity than they would be in real life.

Commentary doesnt rate on most casual/hardcore fans top 10 list of wanted features.
Quite honestly... those who have not played Live the previous years will feel the commentary is new and fresh since they have not had privy to hearing those lines before.

A bit confusing trying to make my point but I think most will understand what I'm getting at.

Thats a ****ing idiotic response. I'm not saying that people cant complain. I said as much in my response. I said that people yell "why havent they fixed that" and there are/were much more important things to fix. I think most fans would say that crowd sound was much more of an issue in 2k8 than commentary and they fixed the crowd in 2k9.

This is the amazing effect that happens when you create a BRAND and stamp it into the minds of the public. For a large percentage of the sports gaming customer base all won't be right in the universe again until EA has the best game, and all others are trying to catch up to them.

Its not even a conscious thought process either. The default mindset is: EA is the Top Dog.

Same can be said for Live. I've heard a ton of the lines in the demo in previous versions. All commentary gets old.

LOL Quite the ironic statement, despite the context.

Again, Live's play calling is not a huge advancement over 2k's. They have about 2 or 3 differences in their execution, that's all.

Same commentary as last year's + no team specific playcalling, does not warrant a purchase for me. These are flaws that could vastly improve the game but have not been fixed.

He just put one big paw up there, and jammed it thru!!! Whoever wrote that would be fired if I was running the show. lol

Game-breaking, nah. Annoying as all hell, yep. Can be fixed or improved upon? yep. Should have been fixed and improved upon by now? yep. I can't say 2K has any excuse not to have fixed those features in 2K9

For sixty bucks, I'm fine with getting a few months of effective commentary. I don't need it to last a whole year, but it shouldn't be so close to a game I already bought, especially when that game had poor commentary.

That does NOT erase the fact that Live's commentary is STILL better though. Yes it is DIFFERENT and different does not always mean BETTER but how can anyone say Live's commentary isn't better?

They are clearly NOT reading from a 3rd grade script like Harlan and Kenny/Clark

Good post.

That first post up with Bosh was surreal. That's EXACTLY how that fool plays with those long jump hooks.

Yea 2 or 3 HUGE differences though. Pared you are killing me with all of this defense you are playing man.

Point blank

2K needs to work on their commentary and play calling system. Nothing more needs to be said. Anyone that disagrees..............oh the hell well

Where did I post otherwise? Please don't put words in my mouth in the heat of the moment.

aholbert mentioned that either way, they will both get old. I just continued on with his point.

Team sliders help out so much. Thank god FIFA finally decided to use them, too bad NCAA refuses to incorporate them.

I'm the same way as you. I would listen to commentary but since it's been the same I usually just turn it off. Especially when you're playing Association mode and you hear the same things about your team over and over again.

Honestly, i just like crank up the court/stadium sounds so it feels like I am playing in the game and not watching it on TV.

All valid points across the board on commentary though. Don't hype up new commentary if it's the same tired stuff.

Is it just the way Steve is playing or have the dunks actually been toned down a bit?

Oh snap!

I think I they finally fixed the "hookshot hitting the side of the backboard, or back of it." You can see JO is posting by the baseline, spins towards the out-of-bounds and hooks and the ball travels towards the rim instead of into the backboard. It's around the 1:23 mark.

You said and I quote the commentary "sucks the life out of the game". That sounds like game breaking to me.

But really...why do I care? If you dont buy the game because of commentary, thats ur perrogative. I sold my 2k stock so i'm not making any money from your purchase. Actually buy Live, they have better commentary and I still own EA stock.

I had a big grin on my face when I saw that too.

Well stop mentioning how "unimportant" commentary is and address the ISSUE.

Typcial of you OS dudes man, downplay the importance of somebody's complains. That goes on SO MUCH around here. Who are you to determine how important a complaint is?

Like the dudes that complain about accessories. Yall give them HELL as if they don't have valid arguments. It might not be important TO YOU but you aren't the only person on this board that wants their voice heard.

I never have and never will downplay the importance of a BLATANT issue. Some of you need to take notes.
