Well that is unless you lob it then you will have the defense all over the ball, so thats a no no unless your going 1 on 1 deep or on a fade. Another thing that irks me with Madden games is the damn pocket. There was no pocket. My guys get so bunched up it looks dumb. It didnt happen on every play, but alot.

Another thing, why cant you play defense? i am a defensive guy. I want to see how the defense plays. I know offense appeals to the casual fan, but at least let me play some in a demo.

My impression is NFL 2K5 will be my main football fix for at least another year. Madden is slowly improving, but the presentation is still lacking and the gameplay doesn't really flow like real football imo. 2K's engine does a better job of reproducing the natural flow of a play imo.

I just laugh at how John Madden talks about this game being this and that and how great the experience will be when you play this game...

But it's far from that ...I'm far from being blown away by this game right now... I admit the game is improved from last year but I'm not left with that feeling like WOW what an amazing game...
Hopefully next year I'll have that feeling...

I agree with this 100%%
The gameplay still doesn't feel "right" ...
EA needs to do something about the QB dropback ..it just doesn't look right in this game...it's way too fast

When there is only one football on the market he can say that.

The demo did not make me want to purchase the game. The graphics looked great but the gameplay did not wow me in anyway.

Exactly. He's not referring to one on one coverage, he's saying he hates the way a CB 15 yards down field running stride for stride with a reciever on a fly route can magically turn around and persue the ball the moment u throw it in the flat to a HB on that exact same side. Been a problem with Madden for years. But, in defense of EA, it only plagues the upper difficulties to make it challenging, and I think it's tied to the defense awareness. So adjusting that slider may help. EA's gonna have to take a look at 2K football and see what they did to remedy this.

Drops are driving me crazy. I don't know if the game is trying to screw me since I got 100% on the passing IQ thing, but I get probably 3 drops per drive. Also fatigue seems way overdone. The entire bench comes into the game after 5 or 6 plays. Jacobs goes from green to red in 3 carries. Toomer and Burress take themselves out of the game no matter what plays or routes they run.

Or better still, since Visual Concepts football team doesn't seem to be doing anything, why not hire then to help out with Madden 2010? Couldn't hurt.

There's really little that can be said about the demo being that it's so short. Other than the fact that I feel that the difficulty has been raised a few notches, it was very tough for me to get the Giants in the end zone. I don't know if it was the receivers dropping every freaking pass or the Patriots D intercepting every thrown ball. Either way, I found it very tough to pass the ball against them. I didn't get to run the ball that much since I was focused on getting the touchdown before time ran out. I must say that I really enjoyed the IQ Test portion of the demo, though I had some trouble with the rush defense part. Overall, it's an ok demo. Can't wait to try out the final product.

This demo is pretty lackluster in my opinion, too many drops, wide open to the house type drops too, not "the safety is breathing down my neck" drops or "I'm about to fall down dead-tired" drops just outright drops for no reason at all. Consecutive on three plays in the demo, Burress, Toomer and Manningham dropped three passes to put me in another 4th down situation.

And I've found a bug already...if your O-Line gets a false start, the player that did it (it's been the RG now all three times) will walk away from the line of scrimmage (with no penalty being called) and just keep walking towards the opposite end zone.

I hate the lighting on the players in this game. There is white haze on dark jerseys and a white outline around the players when in the gameplay camera that makes the players look they were cut and pasted onto the field.

Really distracting to me. NHL 2k6 for the 360 had the same problem and it drove me nuts. The close-ups post play aren't nearly as bad and the close-ups of the helmets are a thing BEAUTY!

What teams can you be? only Giants vs. Patriots?

honestly..i wasnt impressed at all with the demo..understanding that it is very limited with what you can do..i didnt enjoy it that much..does anybody know if the final build was much ahead of THIS build of the demo? It doesnt seem fully developed and I got frustrated with it pretty early..

My sole point was I don't know why we are surprised that the DB's reacting to the ball without turning their heads first because we were told about it ahead of time. I am in no way shape or form saying its ok or acceptable, just that its there and we were told about it.

Hopefully that will end this discussion and clear up any confusion my intial post caused. My fault guys.

I give up

i think it's tight. if it was like NCAA i would've been pretty distrustful. i liked what i saw.

i was sacked, had pockets, had nice runs, bad runs. NE d challenged me pretty good, atmosphere felt superbowlish ...

if the sliders work, i'm sold.

I couldn't disagree more. I felt like it has a lot of promise. Unfortunately, as has been pointed out, the demo is so short that it's really hard to tell. I had a lot of fun with the demo and after playing it a few times didn't see anything that stood out as doom and gloom negative.

A lot of people want to hate this game. How some are making such incredible leaps of judgment on a short demo are indicative of mistrust/negaitve attitudes towards EA. See the one post above where the person thinks the reason the demo doesn't let you play defense is because EA doesn't want you to know the defense is broken.

Mistrust.
