Do penalties take up a lot of space or something? That's a very odd thing to leave out.

Has anyone been able to get in the clear and notice the pursuit angles taken by the CPU Defense? Anything resemblng NCAA?

I havnt' seriously played a Madden game in two years, but the passing in this demo is hard as fudge. I'm kind of glad though, makes the game more challenging. I enjoyed the hologram training thing, but its not something i would like to do more then once or twice. Scored all Madden in run offense and All Pro in the rest except for pass defense which i got rookie

Good demo, too bad its way too short though. Can't wait to get the full retail game August 12th or 13th

Gameplay is pretty solid on offense from the demo and the graphics are great. Still not sure if it warrants a purchase from me this year.

My impressions so far

-DB play is still kinda awful. They seem to jump really high on some super saiyan type crap. Seem to swat alot of passes outta no where. They also still have eyes behind their heads...
Wonders why EA made the WR's able to turn their heads and look at the ball and not the DB's..???
-The QB play has improved big time but NOT where it should be. The movements seem to be way too stiff when you're not scrambling around.
- QB pocket is a bit improved ..
- Still NO refs on the field. I guess they're invisble?
-Steve Smith and Manningham seem to drop alot of passes that's thrown RIGHT AT THEM. I had a sequence where Smith dropped 3 straight wide open passes. I'm like WTF!!!?!!?!?
-The tackles seem to feel more realistic
-The running game feels more tight..Brandon Jacobs feels like Brandon Jacobs
- Looks like I have found a passing play that seems to be unstoppable right now lol.

I'm not blown away so I'm not sure if i'll be buying this game

Gameplay is pretty solid on offense from the demo and the graphics are great. Sound rocks too. Sidelines look great.
Unfortunately still the missile launch type of tackle, forgive me for a lack of a better word. Plexiglass was running across the middle for me, well past five yards and he was bumped and impeded from continuing his route, no penalty was called.

Played a few more times. Passing seems to be about right. Didn't seem too hard or too easy to me. It seemed like I could put the ball where I wanted, but I will say the dbs with eyes behind their heads have returned. Concerning this issue, it wouldn't be so bad if every so often they'd make the db turn their heads once and a while. When you throw a ball and every db just automatically runs to where you threw without even seeing you throw, it just looks ********.

Oh yeah, accurate passing while sprinting and off one foot definitely makes it's way back.

Lot of flat out dropped passes, not too many bad throws though.

Play in the trenches seemed balanced.

I didn't utilize the running game much. Except on the first plays, since you start at like 4th and 1. I was never denied the first down when I ran though, there was always a hole for about 5 yards. Again though, I only ran like maybe 4 times, each being the first play.

No defense is a big negative for me. Thing is, a demo is just a small fraction of the game, and in this fraction I can't even play a little defense? Not even a little? I find that suspect. It's pretty telling to me that EA would take out the defense but add that "IQ" test. Story of my life with EA, take out basic game functions/mechanics, add a new feature.

Other than that first hiccup, and no defense, there's nothing I can really complain about too much, game play wise with this demo. It could be that I will have a football game to play after all this year. Of course, it's still not a first day purchase. Enough of you will do that, and I will make a rental decision after taking all the info in.

Is the demo free on PSN and how long did it take to download (i.e. filesize)?

I still feel they're hiding something not letting us play more than a couple plays. I mean are you guys ready to go along with this feature, EA can't even get the gameplay right. Now we have a CPU making decisions on how hard the CPU is against us? Get ready for "robo QB, RB, WR, DB ect..." I do hope I'm wrong on all accounts, but EA's track record would make me a betting man on my thoughts.
I'm as skeptical as you are.

It's quite frustrating that the same EA that released such an immersive, deep demo for NSACAR 09 releases such a limited demo for NCAA and Madden.

Did Nascar turn out to be garbage?

I sent Plexiglass in motion and unlike in NCAA the motion bumps into his teammate, Plexiglass actually ran in FRONT of his teammate. LOL.

i was disappointed, i was hoping for a traditional demo....a FULL GAME of the superbowl rematch, i dont care about madden moments! its a demo, dont be slick and give us side features. Give us a "demo" of the game. The IQ Test is cool, but it is a side feature as well. I woke up early for sh1t.

Can only imagine the poly count for the NY helmets. Looks absolutely amazing.

Hey at least we got a demo this year before the retail dropped.

For sure, I'll be waiting to see if videos such as this can be made with Madden. I am not a day one purchased any longer.
The demo reviews do sound good, but again, VERY short playtime. WHY?
The demo reviews for NCAA were outstanding. I'm seeing a lot of the same with Madden.

We all knew what the demo consisted of before it even came available for download. Phil mentioned it in the thread above and even commented on why they did it this way.

Well those of us that pay attention in the forums and actually read the posts.

Much rather see an instant replay of a sack then the stupid animation on the scoreboard.

IMO? No. Now, I'm not a NASCAR die-hard. I haven't bought a NASCAR game since NASCAR Thunder 2002. I wanted to buy last year's version, but the demo was so bad and the reviews were horrible that I decided not to. The demo this year was very strong, INCREDIBLY deep. Impressions of the game from folks who bought it day one are what prompted me to buy it, and I wasn't disappointed at all.

One of the regulars in the NASCAR forums, who really knows his stuff, wrote a review and graded it at 8.5. It really is a good game. Not perfect, but the demo did indeed reflect the quality of the actual game.
