[quote=Radioactiveman;2038558046][quote=kerosene31;2038557696]I never feel in control in Madden. It is like you just hit the controls and hope the right animation pops up. I can't describe it really.

I understand what you're saying and I agree completely. It's like the game controls itself and you're left with the feeling that you can't manualy control a player and make a play on the ball. Let alone actually switch to a guy that you're not controling and be in a position to jump and deflect a pass or defend a pass. It's not a problem in the PS2 version(s) of EA's football games.

I feel like EA has sucked the life out of it's football games on next gen. I used to line up the day of a Madden release, I literally have no excitement what so ever to get this game and probably won't.
After reading that, that reminded me of another thing. I never really felt like I was in control of my players. Then again, that some what of goes with my point when I said the players felt very "light".

One more thing, then I swear I am going to bed. I have never seen so many dropped passes by WR's in my life. Honestly, I think my WR's only caught 2-3 passes to them, all the drops happened when they were wide open and the ball hit them in the hands.

Granted, the WR Catching slider should fix that.

I thought the demo was decent nothing to wow about and make a clear choice on but was a good taste. I happy I not a crazy picky person and expect more each year no matter what they put out. Granted they have problems yearly but they can never please people and probably never will. Demo was nice I will keep my preorder.

Is there a waiting period if you have only Silver (I only have Silver right now)? I have to change some Network settings to get my Xbox 360 online right now. I don't want to do it if it is not available for Silver members yet. Thanks.
Well, got online to check it out myself. It is currently NOT available to Xbox Live Silver Members, only Xbox Live Gold members for those of you like me that needed to know. By the time its available to Silver members, the game will probably be out. That's OK, I'll just play the PS3 demo since my PS3 is always online. I wanted to compare the versions to see which one is better, and which one to get. I am impressed with the PS3 graphics for once in an EA game.

Time to check it out.

I write all that and you can't even explain to me how the gameplay is different... I rest my case.

Explain "many differences" and you will have an audience.

That's funny cause my guys couldn't stop making catches; so much so that even when the ball hit them in the back they were completions.

After playing for about an hour or so the classic EA football issues continue to shine through. Guys sliding across the field on one leg and then jumping off that leg to make a catch or bat down a ball. And of course ball and arm/leg clipping.

They don't break the game, but I'm at the point where that kind of stuff is getting old, and the engine and formula really really feel like they're showing their age.

The play call screen is also delayed just long enough as you cycle through the plays to get on my nerves. Why do I only have X to pick plays with anyway?

Overall I'm almost sold, but after what happened with NCAA I just can't blindly dive in based on this demo. Who knows how the final game is going to play........

lol...looking for validation? Will it change your viewpoint? No. Since your "case" is "rested" I guess I'm to assume your "case" was "I dare you." Hard to argue that point . Anyway, I'm not looking for an audience...I was having fun with your "I dare you" statement. If you don't notice the difference in the "weight" of the runners or the improvements of the deep game, fine...I did. Now, I dare you to tell me it hasn't changed...see how silly that comes off. If you tell me something is the same that I find to be clearly different, or vice versa, what's the consequence? If YOU find it to be the same, fine. I do not find it so.

I LOVE IT! It is about 3 years too late, but better late than never.

GOOD

- L Stick control over player is smoooooooooth
- Visuals are sick
- Touch passing is good
- Receiver route running is sweet and fluid, no more robo-tron
- Tackling looks and feels so much more realistic (from what I can tell from the offensive side of the ball)
- Slide protection works better than I have ever seen it before
- FG and Punt kicking meters and arrows. (This is minor, I know, but they have been super-sensitive to L-Stick movements on the 360 up until now. But they are great in '09, just like good ole ps2 meters and arrows)
- (I'll leave this spot to add more to it later once I play some more)

I DONT KNOW

-Passing Camera. It is so different I can't say whether I like or not right now.

BAD

- Stiff-Arm animation. I am not even sure what is going on with this thing. It needs to be more pronounced ala '07 ps2.
- Truck-stick animation. Along the same lines as above... the ballcarrier should really get a lot lower, it should be more pronounced.

Actually if you hold down the L1 or L2 I cant remember you can pick with any button. It's the bluff button.

this is the dumbest idea for a demo ever...

Odd thing PS3 demo

Had a false start, and the tackle stood up and walked back near the HB. However no one else moved, and "X" wasn't working. so I called audlible and the lineman ran back to his spot and I was able to hike the ball with no penalty.

Great demo, really can't wait to play

I think I remember reading a few pages back that someone had something like that happen...pretty goofy

There is a HUGE problem with dropped passes.. i'm not even making this up..
Audible your WR to an out route and atleast 85 % of the time the WR will DROP THE PASS ....I'm saying WIDE OPEN , nobody around him , he'll drop the pass. I had a sequence where Steve Smith dropped 3 straight wide open passes...

Oh well it is a demo but still something to note

I haven't had that happen like that, but there are plenty of people who mention this. Hopefully it's not an issue upon release...

I had a few drops when I was playing earlier, nothing too consistent or NCAA 05ish. I think there are certain situations that are more problematic than others. about 80% of the passes I threw to someone out of the backfield were either dropped or they did a weird catch animation and didn't come close to touching the ball. Most of the drops by receivers were by Smith and Manningham and were on short routes when I threw bullets. I did feel like there were maybe a few too many of those but nothing too crazy.

The NCAA PS3 demo felt that way; unresponsive and light. The 360 version was a totally different animal. That is why I ended up buying the 360 version of NCAA 09.

Yes, it happened to me tonight, and I didn't even play much. I hope this glitch doesn't make the final game. I had to audible to finally get him to go back to the OL. He threw his hands up in disgust then walked off just like you said.

Is it just me, or are you guys sick and tired of that same old animation of the OL throwing up there hands in disgust even before the referee says its a false start. In real life, you would give the impression of guilt before you are accused. EA sure has some stupid stuff these days. I swear a 12 year old mind is designing their games anymore.

I guess the PS2/Xbox days may be destined to be Maddens/NCAAs glory days. Not commenting on the demo, since its just a demo, but next gen just doesn't have that feel that the last gen had. The graphics on the Demo and NCAA 09 are very nice however.

Yes, come on and let us just play some football at least like the NCAA demo for God's sake. Gimmicky. Surprised they didn't make us play with mascots.
