Pasta Padre has posted some information on NCAA Football 09 patch #2.

Quote:
"The roster editing patch is currently in certification at Microsoft and Sony. There is no specific day the patch will be approved and pushed out but it should not be too long now, possibly by the end of next week.

The second patch, which is intended to improve different gameplay elements, is still in the evaluation period. Right now a reasonable expectation on when this patch will arrive is September. So far it will include fixes to sliders, improvements to kick/punt return coverage, and various tuning to areas such as zone coverages, man vs RBs, and strafe catching. There will be more included in the patch but as of now those are the things that are confirmed."

Any new info? Why aren't we seeing a list of items addressed?

/\/\/\/\ Because they don't care, or they wouldn't have put out such a crappy game. That being said, they likely have a FULL plate what with all of the glitches in this game... It's kind of like "where do we start". Oh well, they keep making em, we keep buying them... At least for another coupld of years... I hope the leagues don't make the same mistake in a couple of years that they did in 2004...

No new info to report. Adam (OMT) did say that they will release patch details when the patch is done. He said the second patch (important one) was hopefully going to be nailed down for August 1st so maybe we will get more info when have actually finished it. Early September was the last I heard for us getting our hands on it.

rudy, in Adam's lastes tpost on the patch (a day or so ago) he said it should be nailed down Aug 1st, like you said, and hopefully pushed out 2-3 weeks after that (Aug 20th-23rd). Estimated release of course, but better than late Sept

It would be great to see the second patch in late August but given how long its taking Sony and MS to release the first patch I'm not holding my breath.

I continue to re-read that comment and it just baffles me.

We're hoping sliders are fixed and issues we didn't have in a 4 year old game are eliminated once again for a "real Next-Gen experience."

That's almost laughable.

What part of the game engine is four years old and still broken did you not get?You yourself even stated the game has glaring issues.

To stay on Topic... I think the slider fix will add a lot of the AI we expect. I am very happy with this installment even with the glaring issues.
pared is not a mod, what are you referring to?

Anyways, play nice boys.

I have no idea what he is going on about.

I guess he took my comments personally when it was obvious it was more about the status of what our gaming has become: Any positive outlook is welcome, no matter if it is a regression from what we had a few years back.

I agree with you on the slider fix. I really hope that this is one of the areas that they focus on for the patch. Tuning the game to our own preference(s) makes the game 1000x better. Sliders that actually work should allow for better pass rush, better CPU running game, etc. The other things I'd really like to see is the CPU playcalling tweaked, so the CPU throws the ball down field more... and of course the Kick/Punt return game being fixed.

I agree. Working sliders and a fixed return game will make this game truly great for me. For those that think this game is too broken to enjoy right now, it doubtful the patch will do enough to make them happy.

I'm not betting the farm on this one.

If you alter the Human sliders right now, they have an equal effect on the CPU and Human's play-style. So a slider with 0 pass blocking and 100 defensive awareness would lead one to believe that the issue should be addressable NOW, even with the sliders broken... and it is not.

Although I do agree that those looking for this patch to alleviate many of the core gameplay issues are possibly setting themselves up for another disappointment.

I agree. I can't wait for the patch to come out so this game is a bit more playable. However, until EA rethinks the way they do sliders, especially for this installment, I don't think its going to have that big of an effect on the game. Like you guys have said, the sliders work but they affect CPU and Human. But still Break Block at 100 still has zero effect on the pass rush. Until something like 0 Break Block means NO pressure, and 100 Break Block means DLs cutting through the OL like a hot knife through butter, it won't matter. The magnitude of the sliders has to change IMO. Not the slight, incremental differences you can barely notice like they are now.

I think sliders will help, but not completely fix the issues, but then again, we dont know what is being patched (hint hint Adam)

Just a nice little "bump" so Adam can find this and tell us what will be in patch since it was ESTIMATED to be finalized on the 1st (Friday). We're ready to be impressed Adam!!

And if you think its rough for you (this is to Adam) take a gander at the Madden forums.....all hell broke loose over there last night
