MLB 2K8 News Post

We have just posted some impressions from our beta copy of Major League Baseball 2K8.
"Yes, these quick blurb impressions are all over the place, as I just typed some things down over the days I played the game.

I'm not working w/ retail here, just beta. I'm not sure how "complete" it is. But there are times where the game doesn't run 60FPS. During pitching/hitting, no problems, but there are occasional hiccups when throwing across the diamond. A few herky jerky animations here and there as well. Again, these may just be issues w/ my Beta."

I'll try to answer a few questions before going to bed, but will be replying from the home page. If you don't have a mini-avatar, I won't bother responding.

Get yours setup here.

I really like the fact that players react on the bench to hits. Cool feature!

Does the computer AI toss walks if you are patient?

With regards to bat sounds, are you able to differentiate from solid contact and weak contact? The sound is important because it sets up your depth perception on where you think you have to focus on the field just after the ball is hit.

Hey Steve, thanks for the impressions. So as an overall experience how much better is it than 2k7, and how different does it feel?

Steve, one question....in either a franchise or season...do you have the ability to play any game you want on the schedule, not matter what team you are or choose? In other words, could we play every single game of every single team, and control their rosters as well.

Seems to be a questions danced around...much appreciated in advance.

My only question: does it still rain in domed stadiums?

# 9 SkinsBoYee @ 03/02/08 12:23 AM
How is that?

Any problems with the computer lineups?

They are a bit similar, but you can tell the difference. It's better than last year, anyways.

Thanks for the quick write-up Steve. Question, how does the NEW Lighting Engine look? Does it seem more tone-down than last years

I can't find the option in an exhibition game to change the weather. I haven't seen it rain in dome stadiums, but I don't know if it's supposed to be or not. But so far, no rain in domes.

It definitely feels better than 2K7. Batting seems more responsive and I am really loving the pitching interface.

Nope. You can only control up to 4 teams, from what I can tell.

Can you be a little more specific?

I also meant to ask is there still a problem with the day night progression messing up during a game like in 2k7?

Yeah, it's toned down a bit. I'm not seeing any lighting issues whatsoever.

Sorry, like with having Ichiro batting clean up, a rod leading off, reyes batting 5th, etc. like there was in 2k7 sometimes.
