Ya the phantoms interceptions drive me crazy. Madden/Ncaa have had the issue on CG where ratings mean more than physics. I don't get it because I don't recall these interceptions on LG. The game needs more neutral outcomes on wr/db interaction, ie tipped/drops/swats on contested coverage. Looks like I get the CPU next week

I just wanted to see if later tonight around 9 or 10 central time is fine with you??? It is gonna be raining here all weekend which means I am going to be in the house all weekend. So let me know if this works for you bro.

Chicks don't understand commitment to a video game. This is how it went this morning when I was getting ready for work.

Me: "Babe, I got a game scheduled tonight. Some time after work"

Her: "Seriously?? I wanted to do something tonight. We been stuck in the house all week"

Me: "What do u wanna do? "

Her: "I don't know......something"

Me: "Alright, but I got to get the game in tonight."

no prob man....^^^^^lol I feel ya. I will look for you 2nite

good luck

Grunt, I'll be on later this afternoon, around 2 p.m. Mountain time, if you want to try and get our game in.

My home CPU still is out, so if you need to play over the weekend, just send me a message on XBL as to what time and day you can play.

Re: ACQB M10 Franchise Game Discussion/Ish-Talking Thread

The reason WRs don't get any separation in this game is because there's zero cutting involved in the route running.

Madden's version of a WR running a "route" is a guy running around at max speed and making one or two turn-on-a-dime direction changes without ever having to decelerate and break his top speed.

The DBs stay with the WRs every step of the way because they somehow are the same speed backpedaling as running normally, and like the WRs, don't have to decelerate to change directions.

This is why the only way to get consistent separation from a WR in Madden is with pure speed.

Either your WR's faster than the DB lined up next to him, or he's getting locked down for the entire duration of his "route."

No, it's always been there. I remember them in 2005 as well.

In terms of the gameplay, I agree with both sides. I remember in the impressions thread for the demo, I was underwhelmed by the "new Madden" but saw hope for improved gameplay. The time-warp tackles, superman interceptions, swat AND tackle animations, poor line play, ect. is sadly all still there. There was an article on OS yesterday about how APF2k8 was still better despite M10's strides, and I agreed with almost all of it. Even watching the game last night made me remember how much more lifelike the APF animations and Qb play were.

That said, M10 is a far cry from broken, and APF was a far cry from perfect. Instead of all the issues I mentioned above, we had herculean half backs, clueless corners, and ridiculous returns. On balance, I still prefer APF, but that doesn't really matter for one simple reason: M10 is fun. I like the league, I like the players, and I like the games. There's a lot of great things about M10 to enjoy. I won't go through the whole list, but great online franchise mode and solid DB play rank high. You can ruin this game for yourself by focusing on the negatives, just like you could ruin APF. I'm not saying ignore them, I'm saying avoid them. here are my tips to the frustrated M10 player:

1. Don't play randoms online
2. Don't try to hit a wr by throwing directly over a LB, or at 45 angle to a DB (ie out routes) unless you have an accurate QB.
3. Don't run stretch or toss plays without a very fast RB.
4. Only call Cover 2/3 when you would normally have called cover 4, and only call Cover 4 when you would normally have called Prevent.
5. If you are relying on pressuring the QB, bring only big blitzes.
6. Run whenever possible, every throw brings with it the fear of an INT.
7. Just think of it as a house rule: any INT will be a pick 6, and throw yourself a party if you get a tackle.
8. EDIT: IMPORTANT ONE--> Never, ever throw to a manually guarded receiver, unless you're willing to give up 6 points. (that one is for you Weeman ).

Re: ACQB M10 Franchise Game Discussion/Ish-Talking Thread

The Oakland Raiders are a disgrace to NFL football. Easily the worst all around game of the season this week, as the Raiders fall hard to the SD Super Chargers.

While Shawn Merriman isn't busy beating women, he spends his time sacking and intercepting Jamarcus Russell. Dominant game by Wellwell's defense and special teams--2 FF and FR on PR, and 3 INT by the defense. The SD offense played on a short field all game and only turned the ball over once.

The lone bright spot for Oakland was a late-game surge by McFadden, who broke several nice runs including a 77-yard TD run in the game's waning minutes. Unfortunately, Sproles answered right back with a 68-yarder of his own.

Just when I think this team is making progress and might actually be capable of doing some good things, we come crashing back to the harsh realization that we are still the Oakland Raiders.

Great all around performance, Wellwell, and congrats on a thoroughly convincing victory!

Re: ACQB M10 Franchise Game Discussion/Ish-Talking Thread

Raiders 7 Chargers 34
Don't read into the score too much, it wasn't really that much of a blowout. The division rivals squared off in a game that saw 33 total passing yards from Philip Rivers. The Chargers passing offense could not get on track, as Raiders CB Asomugha completely shutdown Vincent Jackson. Antonio Gates could only find the ball twice, recording 27 yards.

Thanks to 5 turnovers created by the Chargers special teams and defense, San Diego was able to capitalize on great field position, resulting in rushing TDs for LT (2), Darren Sproles (1), and Gartrell Johnson (1). The trio combined for 169 rushing yards, including a 68 yard TD by Sproles.

Jamarcus Russel threw 3 picks in the game, with 1 going to Shawne Merriman...who also recorded 2 sacks in the game. Thanks to 2 fumbles by Justin Miller (who got pounded in the return game), the Chargers were able to seal their victory and sweep their series with Oakland for the season. Oakland did however shine with tiny glimpses of greatness from their "franchise" RB Darren McFadden. It will be interesting to see where this team is headed in the future. GG Autumn, you had a nice defensive gameplan, but you just caught some bad breaks. I'm looking forward to continuing this rivalry with you down the road.
