The Beatles aren't what everyone has cut them out to be. I like some of their songs, but the majority are just very "meh" to me.

I don't like the tastes of watermelon or strawberries.

I find that odd, because I don't think that watermelon has a very strong taste at all in general.

Agreed. I really like the White Album, but other than that, I don't see what was so great.

I would submit however that there is a greater chance of certain characteristics being present in people who have or need to put themselves in a position to have a media/public persona. Most top athletes are cocky because confidence is a plus in competition...Talented people are better than average people (at least in their field), and people with money tend to spend it differently than those without as much.

If you hate the trait that is present then I don't see why hating the person is off limits.

Claiming someone has to know someone to actually hate them is fantasy-land nonsense. Quite frankly, it's absurd. What, am I supposed to not hate the Sandy Hook shooter (for example) because I don't know him? Is Kanye West automatically not a punk douchebag because I don't know him even though that's what he shows to anyone and everyone?

We can only go on what we see.

Forgot I posted in here, gonna catch up quickly.

This is the reason it doesn't make much sense to me. In my mind, it take a lot of effort and intention to truly "hate" someone or something. Unless a person has done something to me personally, I don't see a reason to put forth the effort to truly hate them.

It's probably more on the word "hate" than anything. I don't use it frequently as it has a strong connotation for me... that's why it surprises me when people hate someone or something they have no personal experience with. That's all.

EDIT: I'll say that obviously I understand hating mass murderers and people that are evil. It's hating people that do no real harm to you is what I don't understand.

Well I can't speak for anybody else but my point was simply that I tend to hate certain traits in people, like say not tipping well or over aggressive driving habits, So once a person exhibits enough of these traits...I feel justified in hating that person for those actions. I don't hate the person, I hate the persons actions.

Hate is an interesting word. I don't often display my hatred in terms of raging physical actions but use it as a basis to avoid things that cause it to rise. For some people hate is all consuming, for me it's a warning.
