Re: Dallas Cowboys War Room

Not sure how effective Darren Sharper would be on our team, to be honest; we need both of our safeties to be versatile (and basically interchangeable) players in our defense, and Sharper offers nothing in run support. Heck of a ballhawk though.

Ken Hamlin may not even be with the team this upcoming season at the rate things are going; assuming we can retain Sensabaugh, I'm of the assumption that Alan Ball and Michael Hamlin will get every opportunity to win the opposite spot.

If we traded for Marshall and retained Williams, we'd lose Miles Austin. paying $30 million for three wide receivers would be ridiculous (Marshall undoubtedly would want an extension, and Miles Austin, while an RFA, is looking for money), and I don't think even Jerry Jones would do that. I personally like where we are at receiver, so long as Austin continues to play at a Pro Bowl level. If Williams doesn't get his head out of his butt, I think we can make up for it between Crayton, Ogletree, and our tight ends. I'd still draft someone to put pressure on Williams though, so long as it doesn't mean KO gets cut (he's a fellow Wahoo and he lived on my hall my first year in college, so obviously we can't cut him ). Sam Hurd may be the odd man out in that case, as he was the one that was hyped up to be the breakout receiver last season before Austin did instead. Hurd also didn't see much playing time on offense later in the season, but he is a pretty good special teams player.

Speaking of trade rumors, some people outside the Cowboys organization are speculating that Marion Barber might be available. Cowboys' reps are flat-out denying this, but given Barber's running style, I'd personally at least privately entertain trading him, drafting a new running back with a mid-round pick (LeGarrett Blount? Stafon Johnson? Javarris James?), and have this draft choice replace Barber in our three-headed backfield. Jones and Choice would then split the bulk of the carries, with this new draft pick chipping in here and there. The one key downside I'd see to this is that we'd have to find a way to replace Barber's pass protection ability, as he's by far the best pass blocker of our three running backs.

I sure hope we can keep Sensabaugh. He's not only a local guy from my area but also helped us tremendously last season.

Re: Dallas Cowboys War Room

Goodbye Flozell Adams and Ken Hamlin.

I think Hamlin would have been kept around if not for his huge contract as he was still pretty decent.

Cowboys better be planning on drafting a safety in round 1

Re: Dallas Cowboys War Room

Just posted this in the free agency thread but didn't feel like cross-posting.

I think we could still go offensive lineman in the first round; Mike Iupati from Idaho looks like the prototypical Cowboys' lineman, and he apparently can be moved out to tackle. If he falls, I want him.

Bad as I hate to say it I'm glad to see Flozell go. He had gotten pretty bad over the past couple years. Those false start penalties along with holding was becoming a given every game from him.

He still was a fine blocker (though he struggled against the faster rushers at times, and his play did tail off a bit last season), but those penalties were indeed frustrating.
