I guess he comes on recommendation from Bill Parcells? I honestly know nothing about him.
Bowles was the Cowboys secondary coach for 3 years. 05-07, I think.

I'd be shocked if Big Red didn't get the gig.

Re: Dallas Cowboys War Room

The Dallas Cowboys have announced a press conference for 2:30 PM EST today.

While they didn't say what for, a few sources are reporting it's to formally announce Jason Garrett as the new head coach.

Well, does that mean you're happy with the hiring of Garrett or not?

im not happy about it at all. we need a coach who can win now before romo, ware and witten get out of thier primes. Our defense was all time bad under garrett and we cant score in the red zone. It seems like everyone forgot what the expectations were going into the season. garrett takes a team that was regarded in the preseason as the most talented team in the nfl to a 5-3 record with 3 of those games against backup QBs and all of a sudden hes red jesus. Do we just forget the years hes come up short as an offensive coordinator. They only way this is a good hire is if we get good def and offensive coordinators and garret is not allowed to call the plays.

Keep in mind the 3 losses were all very close games. He certainly brought a different attitude, effort, and confidence to the team. I think he can get it done. He does probably only have 2-3 years with this team for a Super Bowl run.

I think he can do it. Who else in the coaching world would you wanna hire? Cowher didn't mention he'd like to coach the Dallas Cowboys. Gruden appears to be staying in the TV booth. There are no other real solid options. Harbaugh from Stanford was someone I thought about but wasn't even considered. I think Garret can get the job done.

We do need another DC though. I don't know who but someone else. Garrett can call the plays. The play-calling got better once he was hired as interim head coach anyhow.

The running game was used more and Witten was the go-to guy in the red zone. Witten was really never used much in the red zone the past few years. Especially for getting TD's. I like the hiring myself!

it wasnt like we had 5 years of bad seasons though it was an 8 game stretch and wade would have still gotten fired had we gone 9-7 or 10-6 and missed the playoffs

i would have at least had a talk with cowher, gruden, fox, billick and fisher (assuming he was to get fired) before making a hire but by all accounts garret was confirmed as the HC before the last game even kicked off. It was jerrys fear of another team snatching garret up that forced him into a hasty decision. Jerry is working his way into the mount rushmore of bad GMs headed up by matt millen, al davis, and aj smith

but garrett was the play caller before so he has to take that blame too and we still have no chance if we get in the red zone and even a FG isnt guaranteed since Buehler is so inconsistent. We ran the ball more but its still hit or miss and with barber sure to be cut we need to find a feature back.

we can argue all day but garrett is (unfortunately) going to be the HC so thats in the past. On a more positive note who do you think well take with our #9 pick?
