I mean this game doesnt look that good or finished, but damn 2k fans ya'll coming out like them monsters on Iam legend when the lights go out. Stay on your page and watch them fantastic videos of 2k13 and stop hating. There is no need 2k has got it.
You're just deflecting critism/spinning attention away from Live 13. This has nothing to do with 2K fans vs Live.

Any functional human being can look at that footage and see that it's horrible. You act as if the hate is unjustifiable... 2 YEARS.

Have you ever stopped to think that some people may be upset because they want the option of having 2 great basketball games ?

NCAA 13 by EA has sold nearly 300,000 copies in the last month. (360 data). Around $18 million @ $60 a pop. And sales will likely increase when college football season gets under way. Madden will probably do two, maybe three million in two weeks.
There's no college basketball game on either console. There won't be a new baseball game on 360 next year. There's one hockey game, one NFL, and one college football game. Rewind 8 years ago, we had a number of choices. You didn't like Madden, you can buy 2K. Now if you don't like Madden, you can buy NCAA or not play anything at all.

Not everyone likes 2k and I understand that. There should be a choice. I just wish we had more options. Every year, the number of sports titles drops. NBA 2k13 is shaping up great but I'd rather have college hoops.

Looking at strictly sales means nothing when you haven't factored in what it cost them to produce and market the game.

Concept/Pre-Alpha: In this stage of development, the script is more of an abstract idea than an actual working program. Through this stage the coding starts and changes to functions are being made until a working draft is created.

The Brooklyn Nets logo was revealed in May which means this cant be any older than that. So according to that definition of pre-alpha this game is just a conceptual idea...But it makes me wonder if what weve seen is just conceptual how on earth are they going to be able to get this game half decent by october...lol EA botched this one!

I honestly believe this is what they plan on releasing...shame shame shame shame..sha....

Lol, I honestly couldn't take more than 30 seconds of gameplay. I haven't seen movement or ball physics look that bad since PS1.

Yikes.

The reason this video was not released is because of what exactly happened here, the game just isnt good and the backlash gets all the negative attention. When the game was actually shown at other venues, the response was the same from people inside and outside of the industry. It was during a recent showing that the idea of actually not releasing the title at all and skipping another year was thrown around.

The people that are actively involved in making the game truly feel like it was a superior product and worthy of release, but thats because they basically built the game from the ground up...yet again, and feel a huge accomplishment just getting everything running correctly. I wont get into technical speak, but instead of taking a foundation and trying to improve on it year after year, they try to reinvent the wheel and start fresh each time....which is very time consuming. The only thing I can think of right now to compare it to would be like being giving a task to dig a ditch. You could go out and bust your tail digging with a spoon and work harder than you ever have and accomplish nothing...but your coworker grabs a bulldozer and completes the project with no hard work...just using their head.

The way you can tell that the video you are not seeing is "pre-alpha" is by the font in the menus, the colors were wrong actually on the Thunder if I remember correctly , the entire presentation package is in etc....this was actually a build that was further along than the one shown at the recent conventions and shows...and I do believe some community guys got an opportunity to see it , but had to sign confidentiality agreements.

What hurts the most is when you work very hard to make something, and then everyone tears it down. Morale around EA is not very high right now. You have people being moved from project to project...you have some being relocated to different studios in different cities, you have knowledge that some franchises are actually slated to be cut out completely , you have the knowledge that the company is actually being shopped out and has a potential buyer in the background , you dont know if you are going to be employed this time next year...etc ..etc...etc...

Some may say its the nature of the turf, but the decsions that are made are not made by the majority of the rank and file employee, its by upper management that has no clue about how and why people play games....its about the bottom line. Cut costs as much as possible, release as little as an upgrade as possible, and release it and just count profit is their motto.

I mentioned in a post a long time ago about a meeting about MLB The Show. Probably one of the best represented sports titles to date, but yet has declining sales every year. The game is so good, that many dont buy the next years iteration....and thats the mentality at EA....dont release a product that has very little faults, as it wont sell the next year. Why do you think youve not seen many PC releases of sports titles? Their are arm chair devs out there that will spend their time for free to update those titles and keep them ahead of what is being released.

What you are seeing now is the decline of a video game giant that is being run by people that only care about the bottom line ...WHILE they are there, and nothing more. They are not looking at it as a long term venture, more like....."I plan on retiring in 5 years, so lets make as much profit as possible...and worry about damage to our brands later, since I wont be here to deal with it" Or at least thats the mentality.

Its a small industry, many people know others outside their own studios and as such rumors run about. You have PopCap, that was recently bought for $1billion and produced some great titles, but now employees are on the chopping block...you have Westwood studios that has lost people left and right, you have Origin and Maxis losing people....and the big elephant in the room was Bioware.....who have lost almost half their staff.

The people losing their jobs are not the ones that make descions, its the worker bees who just do what they are told.

After several key people left from another prominent team left and formed their own company not too long ago, others took notice. They can get their independent freedom back by making tablet games and avoid the corporate atmosphere where they are dogged daily by their consumers.

Bad decsions after bad decsions have left a void where great people used to work, its a changed enviroment and recently quality has reflected that.
Easily the best post on this site ever. Spot on. Thats all i was trying to say(with a little dry humor of course) in my EA Self destruct Thread and it got locked?

http://www.operationsports.com/forum...-timeline.html

I grew up on live and have countless memories. and no matter WHAT will always have some level of loyalty even though ive been dating 2k for almost a decade now its like you will ALWAYS give ur FIRST love a look. especially if she looks better or not even better maybe just different.

EA will always be all of our's first, but i think this is our swan song

Like I said last night...EA needs to just focus on bringing back *NBA STREET* (V4), and give up on the simulation NBA game. The last NBA Street was given a 9.4 by IGN (89 on metacritic). Contrast that with a 9.5 from IGN (90 metacritic) for NBA 2K12, and you can see why EA went in the wrong direction this cycle. If they ever decide to release what they honestly and truthfully believe to be a 2K-killer (or at least contender, for goodness' sake), they need to step away from the 'cycle' that sports games are beholden to.

That said, it's fiascoes like this that really piss me off that we can't get (1) a new NFL 2K, and (2) a new College Hoops 2K. We're missing out on SO MUCH GOOD GAMING because EA's greedy accountants and lawyers have locked up rights, resources, and research for either giving us *progressively* good games, or preventing 2K from capitalizing on the resources and expertise that THEY have amassed in the years since the 2K franchise picked up steam.

I feel bamboozled, and gamed, and EA has ONE MOVE that they can make to alleviate at least the kerfuffle created with this video: Announce work on a new NBA Street, announce a cancellation on the Live series indefinitely, and stop gobbling up all the exclusivity rights to ENTIRE FRIGGIN SPORTS LEAGUES.
