- No Smart spectacular gameplay, seems as if the cpu is clueless at times because the proper A.I is not implemented
- No playmaker animation engine, seems there are several areas where animations should be there but are missing (ex: LeBron post up)

I remember watching an interview an the team said they were working on getting the core technology together, or basically incorporated into the game. This seems like a build that has taken place before the core tech was implemented.
You like pain..don't you?

Tell me...since EA hasn't...what exactly is a "Playmaker Animation Engine"?

I'll tell you.

It's a buzzword. A catchphrase. It's meant to suck you in.

You're setting yourself up for disappointment. I don't know how many people who have witnessed this game need to tell you that what you saw is nowhere near barebones.

But I digress..

Now imagine how many of those items would NOT be in 2k if it weren't for Live failing.

The competing product doesn't have to be solid. But it needs to be there at least trying.
I would say two things:

1. There are Live features that date back to 2K and so on and so on. So your point is valid. It's just that it doesn't end with one title versus the other.

2. Whether or not Live/2K succeeds or fails with a feature normally doesn't matter. The other game will, at some point, put their own spin on the same or a like feature. Except for Madden. They are 8 years and counting on features of 2K5 that have yet to show up.

As one of the OS mods just posted. They only care about turning as much profit as possible. You can look at the game and literally tell it had a modest budget. It looks like an ipad game. The sad thing is there are 100's of thousands of people out there who will buy this game simply because they are emotionally attached to the series.

I pray that this abomination remains chained up indoors and doesn't see a store shelf. No tweaks are needed, it needs to scrapped and built again from the ground up, and it would be nice if the dev team consisted of people who are familiar with BASKETBALL. I shouldn't be seeing FIFA and NHL animations in a Live title.
Well said. I certainly don't feel sorry for anyone that wastes their money on a game of this quality. But you're right, people will buy the game regardless because.. well, let's be honest.. people can be idiots. Luckily, Live isn't the only NBA game out on the market.

What amazes me is going back & looking at Live 10, that was a really solid game. I bought 2k that yr but was torn as to which game to get. It still looks good! Why couldn't they have simply added onto that game? The foundation was there.

It doesn't blow me away graphically as far as in game but I didn't expect that. I like the presentation of the game a lot though. I have to play the game to ultimately make a choice.. but it looks dated.

When they pass the ball it looks like their pushing with their hand cupped.. jumpers look funny. This does indeed look early build. Hopefully it's not the case but whatever.I'm waiting for official word / official release to really base any real opinion on.

Is this for real? It looks like something I played on my old Super NES. This has got to be a joke right?

JSG, not sure where you're getting your info, but sports video games do quite well and the future of it will be fine. Expect the new console systems out in another year or two, and the sports games will be ultra-realistic. With or without EA releasing a basketball game, they're not starving. NCAA 13 by EA has sold nearly 300,000 copies in the last month. (360 data). Around $18 million @ $60 a pop. And sales will likely increase when college football season gets under way. Madden will probably do two, maybe three million in two weeks.
