Sim vs Cheese - Lets debate

Cheese to me is exploiting an unbalanced part of the game that is unstoppable. Sim is trying to replicate realistic play, disregarding gameplay holes that allow for easy success.

What's Sim more or less rests in the eye of the beholder. Everyone has their own vision of it. My main irritation is with reach-in spammers, non stop pump fakers and constant zone defenders. Zone DEFENSE can prove way too effective in 2k12(more than IRL) due to the undependable passing. People don't reach all the time IRL because they get called for fouls or take themselves completely out of position if they are unsuccessful-These things don't happen nearly enough in 2k12. As far as pump faking, I've never seen Ray Allen, Melo, Dirk, KD, etc pump fake 5 times at 3point line trying to bait the d into jumping IRL, but I see this all the time online.

Post shots are easy to guard, you just have to do more than press y. If its the turn around fade that's killing ya, anticipate which way they turn so you follow them, then if you can aggressive contest, (rt+y) but normal contests will disrupt it too. I love killing it in the post with any good post player because most people didn't bother to learn the defense for it and cry cheese when I have a team like the Hawks, and murder them down low with Horford and smith, and abuse the size mismatch Joe Johnson has.

Also if they only post with Carmelo, put a bigger man on him. They either start doing something else, or its easier to defend his post shot.

You have to mix in some off ball though. I will straight out say when someone is throwing screens and what not and then kicking out, I stay with the original man for a second so I can lock him up and not be burned by a give and go. Once I have him locked up after the pass, I go back to covering the ball handler. Also if someone gets predictable with plays, I will take a gamble, go off ball and try to jump the pass. Nothing cheesy about that, you gotta outthink your man and put it in his head that the pass off the screen isn't always money.

I hear what u saying....but its too many people out there playing that offball defense....if ur opponent is clearly playing onball d and not doing anything cheesy offensively and u still playing offball defense, imo ur using a crutch and makes the game unfair to the dude playing onball defense cause ur ability to stop the offensive player is harder to do than it is for the cpu....that's why I don't respect dudes who play offballl unless dude they playing is a cheeseball I see no excuse to play offball other than being scared to get scored on....

People overall are just scared to give up points so they do anything to make it impossible....but ppl tend to forget that if EVERYBODY played onball defense, it would be a more level playing field cause both players have the same disadvantages thus making the competition more equal and fair...but this is assuming both players don't have a cheesy offense

I'm a huge sim player. I take pride in playing 2k as close as possible to real life. Every year, my friend and I start a couple of tournaments throughout the nba season, and we so much fun playing sim style basketball.

He enjoys sim style basketball as much as I do. That's why I avoid playing 2k basketball online. Too many cheesers out there that exploit the game and ruin the experience for me.

Cheesers only care about winning, where as I enjoy a game of skill, strategy and simulation. I don't care if I lose, as long as I have a fun sim game.
