Re: NBA 2K20 Foul/Sliders Archive

2K is just going to have to fix most of these issues on their own by patching them into the game. It's their job to tune these areas if they want to. It's exhausting trying to figure all of this out. I will just enjoy the game until and if I or someone else stumble upon fixes by accident. And if you do, please share and help us out. 2K20 is an awesome game. Only if they fix the foul issues especially for User vs Cpu, this game would be near perfect.

I'm not completely gone but, need to enjoy. I may chat time after time. Ya'll have a good one, stay up, and have fun! Please enjoy the game.

Re: NBA 2K20 Foul/Sliders Archive

I hear you Devroyce. This has been my favorite 2K ever, with the most realistic gameplay and focusing on the number of fouls is making me enjoy the game less even though I have no real problems with the gameplay. And I don't want to fix things by completely altering the gameplay experience with out of wack sliders. It plays great out of the box I just wish these different foul calls were more frequent and that the sliders had more of an effect.

I tried setting all foul sliders to 95 and got through 3 quarters of a game with each team only committing 5 fouls, that was actually worse than the results I was getting before changing those sliders.

I looked at the different sliders for different difficulty levels (rookie, pro, all star etc) to see if I can find some logic behind the settings. Here are my main takeaways:

Driving Contact Shot Frequency
Inside Contact Shot Frequency

Both of these should be set to at least 65. Here's why, on Rookie sliders, these are set to 35 for the CPU and 65 for the User. The reason being is that they want to reward rookie players with free throws in case they miss their layups, so they increased the amount of contact that occurs, to trigger a shooting foul. And they did the opposite for the CPU so that the user has an easier time playing defense without giving up free throws.

I've tried a million things to try and draw more three point shooting fouls and charges/blocks. No success. I tried increasing players Take Charge Tendencies to 90+ and it led to stuff like this where they do TRY to draw the charge but it doesn't really result in anything.

I find this theory interesting as this rationale nvr occur to me b4.
When I played rookie I always felt the ease of scoring, smooth, less bumpy.
In 19, it was 30 to 70.
In 17, it was 50 to 50.
My original takeaway for this is that the higher the frequency the more animations I'll see and it probably makes it harder to score if user set the control on user-timing. But the scale just didnt make sense at all.

Anyway, have u seen more fouls committed by the cpu playing at rookie?

Re: NBA 2K20 Foul/Sliders Archive

Some of the other factors could be due to the way the user plays.
Say, I'm playing onball D and I stay disciplined, no reach-in, just moving my feet. Less occurrence of reach-in foul.
Contest - do u jump or simply flicking the right stick up? Simply, jump to attempt a block has higher occurrence of shooting foul than right stick up. As cpu now uses pump fake, it's no brainer in using right stick up to contest. Unless u lower the defense strength on gather and increase it on release (means u probably go for jump rather than right stick up on every shot attempt), then there's higher chance on scoring.
Do u jump vertical to contest a shot like draymond does or just hitting the jump button+sprint aiming for a swat? If u play like draymond, less fouls I guess unless u jump inside the circle under the basket. But thats draymond. If u are controlling KAT, do u play him like KAT who irl goes for block attempts or play him like draymond?
Physical vs Neutral defense - which on do u choose? I think the former gives more fouls as there shouldn't be any easy bucket at all (players need to earn it). Again, I can set physical defense in the POE for all 30 teams. However, I'm not sure if Ace will over-ride that when comes to gameplay (human vs cpu).

For player attributes, I think its worthwhile to also look at the vertical, defensive iq and reaction time (not sure if they are still in 20). Reaction time is smtg I'm not quite fully understand it.
High iq + high reaction + high vertical
= more cross court passes steal?
= does not bite on pump fake and gets more blocks?
Low iq + high reaction + high vertical
= bite on pump fake?

Re: NBA 2K20 Foul/Sliders Archive

I will reply to all of the messages above, when I get the extended chance...been busy a lot. However, I do want say thanks to all of you.

@JoFri, @antdoggydogg, @youalreadyknow, @RyanFitzmagic, I've see you guys' posts a lot in the general 2K basketball section for years and it is very valuable and knowledgeable. It does not go unnoticed, at least for me. I learn a whole lot from reading your posts. It's good to see you both integrate your knowledge into the slider section and help some of slider guys understand other aspects of the game instead just throwing in numbers. Same with @duce, a regular in the slider section, @penny80, @CaseIH, @mcdowell31, you guys help greatly with your posts. Admittedly, you guys know a lot more than I do regarding this game. I'm the average 2K player who just wants to see the best.

If I forgot anyone sorry...
