Low Batting Averages in sims?

So I've been messing around with some of the rosters released around here and the one thing I can't help but notice about all of them is noticeably low batting average across the league. Now im not too OCD about stats but when 7 players can only manage to hit over .300, something isnt right.

I've tried increasing discipline across the league, I've tried lowering all H/9 and HR/9, I've tried maxing out sliders, anything I do spits out the same issue.

After running more and more tests, I've come to the conclusion that Pitchers are simply striking out wayyyy too many batters. On average, my sims would produce 20-30 200 strikeout pitchers PER YEAR. That's insane. The amount of balls in play that is being reduced by the amount of strikeouts just has to be the reason behind a dip in batting average right?

I've also noticed that when I sim in franchise that nobody seems to bat over .280. And as you said, there are just too many strikeouts.

Its not the rosters it's the game unfortunately. I've simmed into 2019 in one franchise and there are a total of 4 players hitting .300 or above and ALL of them are original roster players. There are no game generated draftees or original prospects (Buxton, Correa, etc) hitting .300. They devs over-corrected or mis-calculated something in the sim engine.

Hoping this is not the case I believe it has to do with poor discipline and vision mixed with k/9 and h/9.

However the sim engine definitely is a little off I'm hoping with ratings edited that we can at least fix it somewhat.

Willard and crew made a great roster, however with some fine tuning and specifically boosting vision I'm seeing pretty close to flawless stats. Essentially, I'd agree with Mizzou24. If you rebalance the roster a bit it works out fantastically. Adjusting draft picks to jive with the rosters doesn't take long, though fine tuning did.

Re: Low Batting Averages in sims?

So i went ahead and re-rated the crap out of Willard's hybrid roster in an attempt to improve batting averages. I nerfed K/9, H/9, BB/9, HR/9 and re rated contact, vision, and discipline and STILL am frustrated with batting average.

At one point in one season I had FOURTY players hitting over .300 at the all-star break. The result? Less than 20 players at season's end... I'm not sure if it's the trade deadline shifting power or what, but offensive production is noticeably less post all-star break in almost every single season I've simmed.

Re: Low Batting Averages in sims?

This is one of those things that either you gotta just accept or do some hard work to fix. These issuers were prevalent on last year's game as well. In fact I play MLB '13 way more than '14 because it took me forever to re-rate the roster (and find the right sliders). No one was drawing 100 walks in simmed seasons (I'd see Votto and Bautista draw as little as 75 in full seasons, no injury). Often only 4-5 guys were reaching .300, batting titles won with a .305 average, guys with 99 vision were averaging about 90-100 strikeouts a season, half the time no players were reaching 100 runs, and in the NL sometimes zero players were reaching 100 RBI!

No offense to SCEA but this seems like a very easy fix. I really don't get it. Just get someone to sim a bunch of seasons, record the results, and make changes where they need to be made. That's what I did. And while it was fun to experiment with, it was also very exhausting and time consuming. As consumers wee shouldn't have to go this. If a half-wit like me could do it the guys at SCEA can DEFINITELY do it.
