Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 ROSTERS (360 ONLY)

Are you looking for ratings based on the simulation, or playing the games? This year you can really only have one and not the other, because the simulated average stats are really low. So to have realistic stats you'll have to raise contact ratings quite a bit, which will lead to unrealistic play for the games actually played.

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 ROSTERS (360 ONLY)

Oops
".330-.340 =
.320-330 =
.310-320 =
.300-.310 ="

Was what I meant with
"avg. = contact
.40 = 99
.35 = 89
.30 = 79
.25 = 69
.20 = 59
.15 = 49
.10 = 39
.05 = 29"

So you could do it (to say it in detail):
.40=99
.390-.399=98-99
.380-.389=96-97
.370-.379=94-95
.360-.369=92-93
.350-.359=90-91
.340-.349=88-89
.330-.339=86-87
.320-.329=84-85
.310-.319=82-83
.300-.309=80-81
.290-.299=78-79
.280-.289=76-77
.270-.279=74-75
.260-.269=72-73
.250-.259=70-71
.240-.249=68-69
.230-.239=66-67
.220-.229=64-65
.210-.219=62-63
.200-.209=60-61
.190-.199=58-59
.180-.189=56-57
.170-.179=54-55
.160-.169=52-53
.150-.159=50-51
.140-.149=48-49
.130-.139=46-47
.120-.129=44-45
.110-.119=42-43
.100-.109=40-41
.090-.099=38-39
.080-.089=36-37
.060-.069=34-35
.050-.059=32-33
.040-.049=30-31
.030-.039=28-29
.020-.029=26-27
.000-.019=25
So Tim Lincecum would get a 25 vs. LHP (.000) and a 43 vs. RHP (.119), Pablo Sandoval would get a 76 vs. LHP (.281) and a 84 vs. RHP (.324), Matt Kemp would get a 88 vs. LHP (.341) and a 83 vs. RHP (.319), Chipper Jones would get a 73 vs. LHP (.268) and a 75 vs. RHP (.278), and so on.

Are you sure that the player ratings really affect the simulated games that much? Because what I realized in the pc version was that the SLIDERS do not affect simulated games.

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 ROSTERS (360 ONLY)

Appreciate the information...

The problem I've had is that I've had no "official" system that I've used to rate players. I've just eyeballed up stats and have done estimations for teams. It has never been a perfect system. I input a ton of information I read both her and at the 2k forums, but it's a lot of work and time consuming. I also did 8 years worth of NBA 2K11 classic roster files, and have the entire 1995 MLB rosters done (but with no ratings updates yet).

I want to develop a better system. I have never owned an MLB 2K baseball game until 2k9. I traded it in within a few weeks - and I did NO rosters for that game. I did rosters for 2K10, and they took off. I kept up with transactions and did a lot of work on them that no one was doing (outside of the official 2k rosters). I've never said these were without faults, and I also am only in my second year of doing them. Now that the regular season is over, I'd like to do one final roster set... So you guys can have the best available experience, and also to help me get a system down for next year (if I choose to do rosters again). So I hope this helps explain things - it's just a hobby for me - not perfect, but I think we'd all agree they're better than anything that anyone else is putting out there. I've downloaded a few of the other sets out there...many of them were MINE, just tweaked a small bit. (I put a couple hidden things in to know whether they were mine or not). All I want is the best set available, and if all I get is sarcasm and complaints, that's not helping. I want to create a system that will benefit all of us...

The helpful ideas coming in are great, and that's what I want to build on. I'd like a set for contact...power...and some sort of pitching rating system. But realize this may take a TON of time to input.

Here's my offer: I can upload my latest file - as is. I've worked on a few more things, updated some stance information provided here. If someone else wants to now take this on I'd greatly appreciate it. But if this is met with more sarcasm & ridicule, then I'm done here. Like I said, I don't want a cult-following, but I find the comments here to be a bit derisive and I don't appreciate it when all I'm trying to do is help. Thanks!

your range might need tweaked. the problem i foresee is that guys won't hit that high a percentage. We may have to start the top range at around .340-.345. Cabrera led the AL at .344 and Reyes led the NL at .337. So if we start the top end at .400 it will drop those attributes too drastically.

So I'd suggest starting at .340-.350 and then work down from there. My guess is the sim-engine for the game would drop the stats too low (I remember last year I lowered the numbers and then ended up re-doing them because guys were seeing terrible stats in their dynasties).

Also, I don't think I'll have the kind of time you're suggesting here (with split stats that involved). There's too many players to have to re-rate (because there are guys on the AAA level who are hurt or played some games). At this point I'm not sure what to do...I really wish I had a way of getting guys to help on this and we could do a "community roster project" but I just don't there's enough interest...

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 ROSTERS (360 ONLY)

Hm okay I get your point. My thought behind this was that in real life there are seasons where players get over .344 or .337 avg. E.g. in 2004 Ichiro Suzuki hit .372, a few years ago Bonds hit over .370 as well.
There are times where the "perfect hitters" aren't around, like the last 3-4 years. But one should leave this potential ratings over because there could come players with this abilities.
I am not at home now but I could test tomorrow how it would affect simulated games.
But well - a real conclusion can't be drawn either. You have to take into account that different teams lineup against different pitchers.
You have also to take into account that there are hot and cold streaks.
The problem in this game is that there are so many ratings. I think for an roster editor there are TOO many.
You have different ratings for batting avg., doubles, triples, homers and that for LHP and RHP. IMO it would be enough to have ratings for batting avg. for LHP and RHP and for batting power for LHP and RHP. Things like triples could be done via the players speed as mostly speedie guys get the triples.
Same goes with pitchers, as there are stats ingame for things like giving up doubles and triples which I didn't even find stats for. And that goes for Pitchers against lefthanded and righthanded batters.
Then there are the fielding stats for every player. This affects also the offensive production and the pitching.
And not to forget the many tendencies. Tendencies for pitchers (giving up walks, trying to strike batters out, etc.) AND for batters (out by ground ball, out by strike out, etc.) although there are things like batter's eye vs. LHP AND RHP as well.
As I said in your slider set I edited nearly every damn rating and tendency for the Giants, Dodgers, Rockies and Padres. This took 2-3 hours for every team. I did this only for the players which MLB2k11 had in the majors, because I based it off the last official roster.
This will take lots of work. But I am fine with it.

Let me upload another one first... I have done some more edits to it, fixing some stances and updating a couple contracts that were finalized before the season ended. I've also tinkered with the Angels, Astros and Athletics a bit more. I promise to upload it tonight.

If you want to be able to re-upload the file, do NOT change any of the 5 name filter blocks.... Just leave them alone so we can continue to pass around the file. Those 5 are: Furbush (M's), Adcock (Royals), Dickerson (Cards), Hooker (Cards - minors), and Whitley (Yankees - minors).

Appreciate it very much!!! Also, what's your gamertag? Thanks!
