Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 ROSTERS (360 ONLY)

...and imagine how long these rosters would take me if I did this for EVERY team. sorry, can't do this. appreciate your insight. now, if you're willing to do this for all 30 teams and also provide me with the specif attribute numbers, and all i have to do is just plug them in then i'm all for it. but i've invested countless hours of my life into this...i have no numerical formula, just rounded numbers that fit into the big picture of making comparisons and 2k's rating scale. thanks!

yea i know it'd take entirely too long to go through every player and change all the ratings with that much detail, so i wasn't saying go do that. i was just making an example with the few phillies players and trying to figure out how you went about rating people to understand it more myself. when re-ratings players i would go along the lines of lets say 99 power = about 45 homeruns a season, so 95 would be about 40, 90 = 35, 85 = 30, so on and so forth seeing as how players around 50 power will barely hit any. and kinda the same kinda thing with contact, i know you're rosters are for the most part roster updates and not ratings updates but with the 2 ratings changes you've done i was just seeing what approach you took

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 ROSTERS (360 ONLY)

One thing I wanted to point out...and I'm not trying to defend my ratings as I recognize they are very subjective, though I tried to develop them from a statistical hierarchy:

I think people need to understand that the OVERALL contact and power ratings for batters are NOT a true reflection of the overall player's ability. I don't think that the SPLIT ATTRIBUTES were noticed by the poster here who noted the overalls looked off. Yes, they will look off if the only number you look at is the "overall" rating. But if a guy has MORE power (for example) from the RIGHT side than the left side, I may have given him an 88 power from the right and a 77 (for example) from the left side. THAT will create a lower overall batting power attribute. So I don't think those individual ratings (when you look at the player by getting into the more detailed scouting report) were given much credit. Just wanted to point that out because after re-reading some of the posts above I noticed the complaint was for the OVERALL number - but you cannot simply raise a guy on both sides of the plate to raise his overall rating if it's not warranted. Thanks!

ok once again.. im not attacking your rating system, or saying you did a bad job. you said yourself that you dont like changing ratings and you do more of a roster/transaction approach to your updates. however with the 2 "major" batting ratings changes you did i saw some things i didnt understand. you said in a post a page back that if you guys see any glaring batting stats that are off to let you know. so i decided to ask you about them, i used some real life stats with some players overall ratings in the game to try to make a simple comparison. i felt that was detailed enough so i didnt do the Left v Right stats because honestly with how you responded to a couple other questions i asked before i felt like you'd blow it off anyway. i do understand that the overall stats dont set in stone how a player performs and even the split stats wont 100% determine how they will play each game. i just simply asked a question on how you got the ratings you did, and provided some real life stats for the sake of a chance at discussing it.

apparently you and and that other dude that answered think im criticizing your ratings and im sorry if i came off that way even though i said in both posts that i wasn't. all i was trying to do was ask a questions but if that isn't the point of these forums then once again im sorry.

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 ROSTERS (360 ONLY)

Um, you are slightly mistaken: I haven't just done transactions, i also did ratings. the problem? - the ratings i did didn't match your wants for your favorite team. so, here's my suggestion: change them yourself, and make your beloved Phillies head and shoulders above every other team. i have invited feedback, but you never gave anything specific until AFTER i released the last file (and posting a website is not the same as posting specific numbers), which apparently you don't understand took me a combined 15 HOURS just to do ratings edits for BATTING ATTRIBUTES ONLY - I NEVER touched pitching ratings yet, and I'm riding the fence on whether I will or not. I don't get paid one cent to do this... Once again, it's the guy who actually takes the time to do this gets questioned, while those who sit on the fence and do nothing make all the complaints. (And when I rated Hunter Pence, for example, I rated him on his 2011 OVERALL numbers, not what he did with Philly. If I do that for him, then you'd expect me to change every player based upon what his final month's stats are worth. Do you really think I have that kind of time??) But thanks...

Mkharsh if you decide to do another roster update, Josh Fields (who you have on Milw) was released from his contract with COL to play in Japan and you have 2 JP Howells on the Rays MLB roster. If you do a pitching rating change, I would suggest using the 9/29 roster update and change anyone with a +/- 5 overall rating change. Thanks for your rosters for the MLB/NBA 2k games.
