Re: Madden NFL 10 FAQ - Part 1

I know it is a minor thing, but for me the lack of user-team o-line pancakes, and the subsequent impact on progression is important. I am curious as to whether or not the patches will address it.

Looking ahead to Madden 11, I think they should track the statistics for the % blocking consistency that you see a lot on scouting reports. It is a more well rounded representation of the player's skill, because pancakes (i.e. knockdowns) are more a sign of a big run block monster, not necessarily reflective of a solid and consistent blocker.

Re: Madden NFL 10 FAQ - part 1

Im a little confused about your response to passes into the flats. You said you were working on it but you also said we would have to gameplan around (or for it) so does that mean you are working on it and it will be addressed in the second patch and we will have to gameplan for it until then or we will simply have to gameplan for it period?

Other than that I just want to say thanks for hearing are concerns and trying to actually do something about them. I think youve handled this whole ordeal very professionally and that is commendable.

One question I have is whether these fixes will apply online as well. I play exclusively online and the issues are so bad that if it werent for my online franchise I think I would have traded this game in already.

I have to say that it looks like you guys are addressing almost every major concern I have with the game. Honestly I feel like Madden 10 truly has the potential to be one of the best football games ever but all of the many issues it has makes it more like the J R Rider of football games. With these fixes I could easily see madden living up to the lofty goals you guys started out with.

One concern I have that probably hasnt been addressed is the issue of linebackers leaping to bat down balls. In the NFL QBs usually put a trajectory on the ball that makes this a very rare occurrence but in madden its like either the qb throws a pass that is easily batted down or he floats it to the point where dbs have all day to react and make a play. I think the LB leaping needs to be toned down quite a bit if that is at all possible or the qbs need to have better trajectory. Personally I think the ball trajectory is fine and its the lb leaping that is a little unrealistic. If that could be looked at for a possible patch 2 or later fix that would be awesome.

One other issue I didnt see mentioned is the defensive zones. Defenders in the yellow zone often play back to far allowing receivers to complete drag routes and short hook plays basically at will. Can anything be done so that defenders in the zone can be more responsive to or aware of receivers going underneath?

Other than that I am very impressed with this news and cant wait until these fixes are implemented. As bad as these issues are now (to the point where the game is on the verge of becoming unplayable) I think Madden will feel like a completely new game with these patches.

A thought...

I'm in a multi-year online franchise. Would adding stuff like salary caps, etc. force us to start a new one when patch 2 came out? That would be a major disappointment. I'd rather continue without the patch than be forced to start over, as we have our own salary cap set up.

Ronnie Brown RUNS left and THROWS to Anthony Fasano out of the Wildcat. Why can't I do that in my franchise?
Pick a HB Toss Pass if its that important for Ronnie Brown to pass it. I do that...with Billy "Effin White Boy" Latsko.
