Week 13 2013 (Season 1) - Notre Dame Recruiting Update

During the bye week, wanted to highlight a couple of signees.

Recruiting Profile – Brad Kramer
Brad Kramer | TE
Thomas Worthington Cardinals, High School Senior, Worthington, OH
Height: 6'8" Caliber:
Weight: 270 Considered: Ball State
Position Rank: 24 Overall Rank: 396
EVENT 40 YD BENCH SQUAT SPARQ
High School Workout 4.60 380 255 63.00
Scouting Report
Brad Kramer is a great signing for the Irish. He is a big bodied recieving tight end. He will need to work on his blocking throughout his college career.

Brad flew mostly under the radar for most schools as he missed his entire junior year with a broken arm. The Notre Dame coaching staff think he will have a very bright future playing for the Irish.
Recruiting Profile – A.J. Thornton
A.J. Thornton | HB
Estero Wildcats, High School Senior, Bonita Springs, FL
Height: 6'0" Caliber:
Weight: 207 Considered: Ole Miss, Miami
Position Rank: 39 Overall Rank: 350
EVENT 40 YD BENCH SQUAT SPARQ
High School Workout 4.38 365 330 69.00
Scouting Report
A.J. is a key recruit for the Irish. He is a talented runner who was heavily recruited by both Ole Miss and Miami. He has great top speed and running skills. He will need to work on first step quickness though.

The one thing that could keep A.J. from the field his freshman year will be his acceleration. He could red-shirt and just work on the physical aspects of being a D1 RB.

Week 14 2013 (Season 1) ND Recap

Stanford Rolls Notre Dame

STANFORD, Calf. - Stanford outmatched Notre Dame in route to a 55-14 home victory to end the season 9-3. The Irish had three first half turnovers including a fumble on the first play from scrimmage. The Cardinal capitalized on all three and put the Irish in too big of a hole for them to climb out. Stanford ran the ball very well to the tune of 257 yards.

This ends the first season under head coach John Bax for the Fighting Irish at 4-8. Although the record is disappointing, the schedule was one of the toughest in the nation. This season really was a good window into how far Notre Dame has fallen down the college football ladder. They are currently a 1 star program. We will see if a 4 win season including a road win over a ranked Oklahoma team will be enough to earn the second star or if the Irish will have to try again next year.

Head Coach John Bax said that he was disappointed that this was how they were sending the seniors off, but is excited to get to work for next season. The Irish currently have 23 commits in their recruiting class and have two more prospects that they are working on going into the off-season.

Re: Week 14 2013 (Season 1) ND Recap

Tough way for the season to end. But like you said, you have a lot of players coming into the program next year and the only place to go is up. Loving the fact despite using a very well known big time program you haven't made things a cakewalk. It seems like we're all sadistic and masochists for wanting to see dynasties where people are losing 4-8 games a season but it adds a level of realism, not to mention the success feels all the more better.

Good luck next season, I'll continue to follow.

I know what you mean. For me, realism is a must. All four wins were very hard to come by, as they should with a weak squad. Also, the win over Oklahoma feels so great as it was their only loss all season.

Thank you
