update - after spending some more hours upon trying to get my data migration cable to work (and getting it to work once - see post earlier) I'll have to give up for a while as I'm heading back to NZ for a few weeks - hopfeully someone else makes some headway during this time

Well I've tried a ton of things with no success... So far I've tried:
Installing updated drivers
Running XPort and XPlorer360 as admin
Enabling Admin account on Vista and running those programs
Booting into safe mode and running those programs

All with no avail... I give up for now. I'll just wait till NCAA 09 comes out.

i just picked up an xsata that was on the bottom shelf of a gamestop. i was going to try the transfer cable but since no one can get it to work, it just didn't make sense otherwise.

Thank you to bulls23 for starting this thread. It saved me a bunch of money. I got my transfer cable in the mail yesterday and it worked perfectly. I don't know why it seems to be hit or miss with different people. I used the Xplorer360 beta 5 download software if anyone hasn't tried that one yet. Good luck.

Youre welcome. I don't understand why everyone is having so much trouble myself. It has worked day one for me. I see a lot of Vista talk on this thread, so wondering if that has something to do with it. I have XP.

I have XP as well, so maybe there's a trend here with negative Vista results.
