I second this. I feel like I'm playing too much and falling behind on updates with only club matches. Granted with international matches that means more matches to write about too, but it's still different somehow. It's especially fun if you have youth graduates from the international side you manage and you're trying to get them to become important international players. I think that's perhaps the best part seeing your home grown player in an international shirt - once he deserves the call up of course.

Just to add to this, sometimes (for a friendly) I'll call in a bunch of guys that aren't part of my regular roster so I can get a good look at them and sometimes that allows me to bring in an academy graduate

So guys after I wrap up my Betis CM in FIFA 15 I want to go back to my roots and do a League 2 CM on FIFA 16. You guys get to pick my team however so here's the poll
Tottenham Hotspur 1 - 0 Sheffield United TOT - Kane 6'
MOTM: Lloris
Match Summary: Kane laid a free kick off and run straight to the near post while the ball worked outside to Chadli who sent a cross in and Kane was able to stick his foot out and redirect it around the keeper for an early goal that held as the winner once the rest of the game played out.
Chelsea FC 1 - 2 Sheffield United CHE - Remy 88'
SHU - Cameron 34', Pritchard 86'
MOTM: Henderson
Match Summary: Davis unlocked the defense and played Cameron through on the left side of the goal. He touched it wide to get around his defender and then fired a strong shot past the keeper on the near post. Adams got around the defense on the right side and sent a low ball across to the far post where Pritchard was there to tap it in and double the lead. Manolas used his strength to get past the defense with the ball and he hit a low shot at the keeper that was pushed up and headed in by Remy waiting for the rebound to cut the lead in half.
Sunderland AFC 0 - 1 Sheffield United SHU - Woolford 62'
MOTM: Henderson
Match Summary: After an uneventful first half, Woolford got the ball out on the left wing and beat his man to see a unmarked path to the goal. He attacked the left side and then blasted a shot past the keeper into the top left corner for the only goal of the match.
West Brom 0 - 3 Sheffield United SHU - Cameron 19', Harder 86', Abraham 89'
MOTM: Abraham
Match Summary: Albrighton came across the top of the box with the ball and he laid it off to Cameron on the left side of the goal and he placed his shot back across to the top right corner. Harder played Abaraham through on the left and he drew the keeper out before playing it back to the far post where Harder continued his run in and tapped it in. Harder returned the favor a few minutes later after beating the defense down the right side and sending a low ball across for Abraham to knock in on the back post.
Sheffield United 2 - 3 AFC Bournemouth SHU - Abraham 12' (PEN), Townsend 59'
BOU - Arter 16', Ritchie 37', Gosling 90'
MOTM: Gosling
Match Summary: Cameron got around Francis on the left side and Francis tried to slide to stop him but got the his legs instead to concede a penalty. Abraham powered the shot into the top left corner to take the lead. Mings sent a perfect cross in from the left wing dropping right in front of Arter for the first time shot past the keeper. Ritchie took advantage of the high line and Gosling played him through and he only had the keeper to beat as he calmly finished it for the lead. Pritchard led the counter and he played Townsend on the left and he collected the ball and fired it to the far post for the equalizer. The ball ping ponged around in the box until Fraser was able to head it into the middle where Gosling as unmarked and he easily finished it for the last minute winner.

Match Recaps
Coupe Nationale AJ Auxerre 1 - 3 FC Metz AJA - Guirassy 11'
FCM - Ngbakoto 45', Boucher 76' (OG), Reis 90'
MOTM: Didillon
Match Summary: It looked like the bad form was going to continue when Ba sent a cross in and found Guirassy completely unmarked on the near post for the first time hit into the back of the net. They almost added a second but a trio of missed chances left them still sitting at just the one. Then Ngbakoto took the ball all the way to the end line cut it towards the goal to hit his shot off the far post and in from an impossible angle. Most missed chances for Auxerre followed to start he second half, and Metz added one of their own with Mayi smashing a shot off the crossbar. Luck went in the away side's favor after Ikaunieks saw his shot saved out to the left and Ngbakoto hit the rebound back at the keeper but he wasn't able to handle it and it went into his goal for an own goal. They then put the game away with Candieas sending in a low cross from the left where Reis was waiting to tap it in from in front of goal.
Match Summary: The match opened up which each side trading some promising chances. Then in the 34th minute the Metz captain, Milan, made what looked like a great tackle. The referee didn't agree though and not only whistled the foul, but showed Milan a straight red to the disbelief of the player and the manager who was enraged at the decision. The away side adjusted to being down a man and moved Reis back from the midfield and into the back line. After a scoreless first half Metz pushed the ball forward with Gomes getting around the left side of the defense on an overlap and he sent a low ball in that was pushed out by the keeper right to Candeias who pounced on the chance and buried it for the lead. The away side weathered out the rest of the match down a man to earn the win and take all 3 points away despite losing their captain early on.
FC Metz 2 - 0 US Creteil FCM - Ikaunieks 21', Mayi 89'
MOTM: Didillon
Match Summary: With their captain suspended, Metz didn't miss a beat striking almost out of the gate. Candeias used some nice footwork to get around his man on the left side of the goal and attacked towards the keeper drawing him out and then playing the ball to Ikaunieks waiting in the middle for the first time hit towards the far post. Metz added a few more chances as the match went on, including a stunning free kick attempt from Ikaunieks from 38 yards out that went just wide of the post. There wasn't much action until in the 89th minute with some great pressure Metz forced a back pass to the keeper that took a hop and bounced off the keeper's shin and Mayi was there to jump on the ball and fire it past the keeper before he could react.
Coupe Nationale Toulouse FC 0 - 1 FC Metz FCM - Gomes 90'
MOTM: Didillon
Match Summary: This was an exciting one with both sides going back and forth attacking each other's goals but unable to beat the keepers. Toulouse looked like they had an edge for most of the match, getting better chances and they should have at least had one if not more. In the end it came down to some great ball movement and poor positioning by the keeper that gave Metz the win. Santos played the ball to Diallo at the top of the box and he laid it off for Gomes running in on the left and he took advantage of the keeper being just a step off his near post and blasted a shot that hit off the keeper and squeezed inside the near post for the deciding goal.
FC Metz 3 - 2 Paris FC FCM - Sao 45' (PEN), 57' (PEN), Palomino 53'
PFC - Kone 59', Pellenard 89'
MOTM: Sao
Match Summary: Thebaux came up with a couple big saves to start the match as Metz went on the attack early and often. He held strong until just before the half the referee pointed to the spot on a poorly timed slide and Sao painted the upper left corner and Thebaux never stood a chance. Just a few minutes after coming back on after the half Candeias sent in a corner and the keeper misjudged the ball and Palomino was able to head it past him to double the lead. Once again it only took minutes to add another when Sao was taken down sprinting into the right side of the box and he placed the penalty into the top right corner this time just past the reach of the diving keeper. Just 2 minutes later Parics FC was able to pull once back when Poujol played the ball to Kone and he used his first touch to pull it back around the defender and the fire the ball inside the near post. Paris FC saw out the remainder of the chances with Didillon coming up with a huge save but ultimately saw another one go in just before the half when his defender gave the ball away inside his own box and Pellenard buried the chance without hesitation to bring the score within one. Still, it was too little too late and Metz held on for the win.
Valenciennes FC 0 - 4 FC Metz FCM - Sao 12', Candeias 20', Grange 86', Honorat 90'
MOTM: Metanire
Match Summary: Valenciennes were completely outmatched in this one, managing only 45% possession and a measly 2 shots, none of which were on goal. Sao got it started early when he received the ball from Reis and used his pace and quick touch to get through two defenders on the left side of the goal and fire his shot back across the goal off the right post and in. The momentum continued as Gomes led the counter on the left side and pushed it ahead to Candeias running into the box and he took one touch back to his right and curled the ball perfectly around his defender and the keeper and into the top right corner. The match went into a lull as Metz protected their lead and it wasn't until the last few minutes when some subs for fresh legs sparked the action back up. Metanire did well to send Grange through on the right side of the box and he kept his shot low and across to the bottom left corner. Another quick counter started with Doukoure on the right and he played it to Grange in the middle who hit it first time to the left for Honorat to strike it past the keeper and inside the far post for a great goal on his debut for his new club.
Finally caught up with everyone's careers and it's great to see so many new teams and new people joining. It's too much to comment on but you're all doing realy well!
In my case, I think I'm going to run two careers like Tex and Rabbit. I haven't played with Accrington again yet but I'm determined to stick with it. I started the second career yesterday and am midway through the preseason tournament. The team is:
League Match 5 Leeds United - Newport County (1-0)
Elek 72'
Leeds frustrated The Exiles all game long on both ends of the pitch and Ákos Elek put a loose ball past Emiliano Martinez about 20 minutes before the game's end to give the home team 3 crucial points in the early going. Leeds slightly edged the visitors in both possession and shots.
League Match 6 Bournemouth - Newport County (0-2) Giles 32' (Ambrose)
Thuram 45+' (Giles)
Giles and Ambrose left their prints all over this key road win for The Exiles as they teamed up twice in a 15-minute span to help Newport get all they would need to earn the 3 points. Ambrose fed Giles on a breakaway on the right side of the box for the first score and then right before the half the French striker connected with the English winger again who then proceeded to cross the ball into the box to Thuram who headed it in for the second score.
...
With a rivalry game on tap against Cardiff City, Exiles coach Giovanni Marccelino went slightly off character in his pre-game press conference:
League Match 7 Newport County - Cardiff City
Spoiler
(0-2)
Spoiler
Macheda 31'
Macheda 45+'
The Exiles came up way short in the first installment of this South Wales Derby in the last 30 years. Marccelino's pre-game comments were a big topic of discussion post-game by Cardiff City and goalscorer Federico Macheda held no punches: "If we don't have the mental fortitude to win these kind of games you have to wonder what kind of mental fortitude they have over there in Newport, they talk to talk but can't walk the walk."
League Match 8 QPR - Newport County (3-0)
Villalba 7'
Polter 34'
Polter 48' Gordon 56' (Bruised elbow, out 8 days)
The Exiles suffer back-to-back losses for the first time this season and some concern starts to roam the headlines in Newport. Although Marccelino's squad had a similar number of shots and shots on goal as QPR they weren't able to be as effective and were thoroughly outclassed from beginning to end by the league leaders.
League Match 9 Newport County - Blackburn Rovers (1-0) In Beom 53' (Giles) Blackett 75'
The Exiles were able to break out of their funk during a moment of brilliance between Giles and In Beom that was good enough to earn them an important victory against one of the teams ahead of them in the standings. However, it was a fairly close game throughout. Additionally, the win may be the second biggest story to come from this game as the starting lineup had a sudden change in it with Tyler Blackett starting in place of Sebastian Vegas. When asked about it after the game Marccelino would only say he had spoke with both players and was "trying something different". Newport County had given up 5 goals in 2 games before earning this clean sheet so we'll have to analyze Vegas' performances this season.
Capital One Cup - 3rd Round Wigan Athletic - Newport County (0-1) Thuram 35' (In Beom)
A rainy day made for a sloppy game at DW Stadium but thankfully for The Exiles they were able to break through on a nice feed from In Beom to Thuram in the 35th minute. Marccelino's squad continues to be far from convincing but they also continue to move on in the COC.
Marcus Thuram scores the only goal of the game.
League Match 10 Huddersfield - Newport County (0-5) Ince 9' (Ambrose)
Ambrose 28' (Thuram)
Ince 36' (Gordon)
Giles 79' (Fernandes)
Ambrose 84' (Giles)
Some will say questions about The Exiles remain even if they slaughtered the worst team in the league but struggling teams don't win games 5-0 much less on the road, so this may signify the righting of the ship for Marccelino & Co. Newport was dominant from beginning to end, dominating both possession (55%) and putting 7 of their 8 shots on goal while holding Huddersfield to a single shot that wasn't even on target. It was a much needed performance to end the month to hopefully put this team back in contention.
Top Scorers 1. Gray (Burnley) - 10
2. Ambrose (Newport County) - 7
T3. Afobe (Wolves) - 6
(2 others also with 6)
Assists 1. Gordon (Newport County) - 7
2. Malyshev (Cardiff City) - 4
T3. Ambrose (Newport County) - 3
(2 others also with 3)
Marccelino's Dairy: September was a rough month for us, no reason to sugar coat that. In cup play winning is all that matters so I was proud of the lads for pulling the 1-0 win, but 3-0-3 in league play is just not acceptable. I had been noticing poor form in our CB play and after the consecutive losses I made a decision to start Tyler Blackett to get a different look. Maybe I was being too greedy by starting two CB's that had just arrived to the league. Sebastian Vegas is a good player, a good defender, and he'll get an opportunity again. Luan is more of a veteran so I feel I can trust him through the struggles but with Sebastian I want to make sure I'm taking care of him. We'll see how things go in the next couple of months.
The Academy
CAM - Daniele Martella (57 OVR, 90-94 POT): The more our scouts evaluate this 17-year old from Italy the more they are convinced he has top potential. While he isn't as advanced in his development as other prospects in our club we're committed to working as much as needed with him to help him become a future part of our roster and hopefully reach his potential.
CDM - Doke Boëtius (60 OVR, 81-87): 17-year old from Netherlands standing at 6'3" and 169lbs. He joins a crowded group of youngsters at CDM (Dall'Oglio, Ichigawa, Kagome) so he'll need to be patient and continue to work hard in the academy for his opportunity. He could become a loan candidate as soon as next season.
CAM - Andrea De Girolamo (64 OVR, 78-86): 18-year old from Italy whose skill set is probably on par with the core of players who provide depth for the club. Standing at 5'7", 145lbs, De Girolamo is a demon with the ball at his feet in the academy thanks to his combination of agility (75), ball control (74), dribbling (73), and acceleration (71).
RB - Willem Van Hout (48 OVR, 79-85): This 16-year old from Belgium is still very raw but exhibits very good potential and coaches in the academy are trying to make sure he remains focused on working on developing his game. Doesn't possess the pace the team would like at the position but Marccelino is keeping more of an open mind when it comes to that after watching Fernandes play.

League Match 11 Newport County - MK Dons (2-2) Gordon 28' (Thuram)
Reeves 43' Ince 54' (B-Williams)
Powell 90+'
The Dons never allowed The Exiles to feel in control even if they were playing at Rodney Parade, limiting Newport to four shots (all on goal) and allowing the visitors to steal a point at the end.
Spoiler
Ben Reeves got to this ball just before Emiliano Martinez to head it underneath the diving goalkeeper for a goal before the end of the half.
League Match 12 Rotherham Utd - Newport County (2-1)
Bowery 51'
Ward 62' Potter 67' (pen) Smallwood 90+'
The Exiles' B-squad was unable to get a good result at New York Stadium despite playing the hosts pretty evenly. After a tightly-contested first half Rotherham was able to break through for a couple of goals in a 10-minute window early in the second half and Newport was unable to get much done after Potter's penalty kick. Richard Smallwood literally took one for the team, committing a hard foul on a breakaway by Potter in stoppage time in what looked like a scoring opportunity for Newport which earned his second yellow card of the game and a subsequent red card.
League Match 13 Newport County - West Brom (6-0) Ambrose 4' (Thuram)
Gordon 30' (B-Williams)
Thuram 40' (Gordon)
Ambrose 52' (Ince)
Odubajo 57' (Ince)
Ambrose 80' (Thuram)
Spoiler
The Exiles ANNIHILATED The Baggies at Rodney Parade, scoring at will from beginning to end to put together arguably the most dominant performance in club history. After a game like this it was difficult to explain that the losing team had spend the previous season in the BPL while the winning team had been playing in League One. In the big picture West Brom is a much better team than showed on this day but man did Newport County have a blast.
Spoiler
Clark Gordon scoring in the 30th minute.
Marcus Thuram gave up would had been a brace for him to get Thierry Ambrose a better shot for what would be the hat-trick.
Ambrose walked away with the game ball.
League Match 14 Brentford - Newport County (1-1)
MacLeod 14' Ambrose 45' (pen)
The Exiles were unable to build on their previous game as Brentford kept most of the game around midfield, and as a result each team was only able to get three shots on goal.
League Match 15 Newport County - Derby County (3-1)
Weimann 7' Ambrose 47' (Gordon)
In Beom 78' (Giles)
Ambrose 81'
The underwhelming Rams did everything they could to make a game of this match-up after failing to hold on to an early lead but Ambrose finished them in the 81's minute after stealing the ball from a defender near the box and scoring from outside after catching the goalkeeper out of position.
Spoiler
Ambrose can't stop scoring.
Capital One Cup - Round of 16 Fulham - Newport County (2-0)
McCormack 49' (pen)
Hyndman 64'
The Cottagers were the better team for most of the game, showing that despite of their struggles this season they're still a BPL team for a reason. Their high-energy on defense was aided by the heavy rain and they could had opened up the scoring earlier if McCormack hadn't missed a penalty kick in the first half. The Exiles bid adieu to the COC after a good run.
For the second time in four league games The Exiles scored six goals, this time lead by a poker from Thuram. Ambrose returned the favor for his fellow countryman this time around, giving up what would had been a hat trick for him in the 90th minute to get Thuram a better shot for the poker. When Newport plays like this they look unbeatable: they took six shots, all on target, all resulting on a score.
Thuram has shown he is a Championship-caliber striker.
League Match 17 Newport County - Wigan Athletic (3-1) Gordon 7' (Thuram)
Huws 11' Ambrose 33' (Giles)
Ambrose 45'
The result is secondary in this game as it was the benching of Sebastian Vegas after Huws' goal that grabbed all the attention. After a shot from the left side of the box was blocked by Martinez and lifted in the air towards the second goal post, Vegas was in position to clear the ball out but mistimed his jump missing the ball altogether and clearing the path for Huws to tap it in. Vegas had been put back into the lineup after a few games off in September due to bad form but he had continued to struggle and this might be a point of no return for him.
During his post-game press conference Marccelino confirmed he had benched Vegas as a result of his mishap and that he had already discussed the issue with the Chilean defender after the game. The coach confirmed Tyler Blackett would remain the starter at LCB for the immediate future.
League Match 18 Ipswich Town - Newport County (1-2) Ambrose 25' (Thuram)
B. Moore 58' (Ambrose)
Sears 85' (pen) Ince 80'
Ambrose continued to carry The Exiles with a score and an assist to lead Newport County to another victory. The game was pretty much in control for the visitors throughout until Sears penalty kick in the 85th minute made the game closer than it actually was.
League Match 19 Newport County - Burnley (2-4) Gordon 8' (Odubajo)
Lawton 12'
Vokes 14'
Keane 53' B. Moore 76' (Gordon)
Blanco 79'
Clark Gordon got the game going with this:
However, The Exiles hard-work over the last couple of months to close out the gap on the top teams on the table suffered a big hit as they looked outmatched against the 2nd-place team in the league. This was an opportunity for Newport to close the gap on Burnley but instead it was the visitors who widened the gap.
Marccelino's Dairy: Sigh, that was a rollercoaster-ish couple of months. It's difficult to not be excited about moving from 6th to 3rd on the table but the loss to Burnley in the last game surely took a bit of joy out of it and I'm so troubled by what's been going on with Sebastian. Full disclosure, I've come to regret the way I benched him in the game against Wigan Athletic. Acting that way isn't going to be helpful to the situation and even though he has clearly struggled it is part of my job to help the players work through these kinds of issues. I'll work on putting a plan in place to get Sebastian some more playing time in the near future. It doesn't help that Tyler isn't running away with this opportunity.
But back to our performance in league play so far, we have done a very good job all things considered in the first four months of the season and that's something we can build on (hopefully) in the second half of the season.
The Academy
CAM - Daniele Martella (58 OVR, 93-94 POT): Having concluded their evaluations our scouts unanimously believe this 17-year old from Italy has elite potential. As a result of that extra time is being spent with this youngster to make sure he's developed at a rapid and efficient pace.
CDM - Doke Boëtius (61 OVR, 81-87): 17-year old from Netherlands standing at 6'3" and 169lbs. He joins a crowded group of youngsters at CDM (Dall'Oglio, Ichigawa, Kagome) so he'll need to be patient and continue to work hard in the academy for his opportunity. He could become a loan candidate as soon as next season.
CAM - Andrea De Girolamo (66 OVR, 78-84): 18-year old from Italy whose skill set is probably on par with the core of players who provide depth for the club. Standing at 5'7", 145lbs, De Girolamo is a demon with the ball at his feet in the academy thanks to his combination of agility (75), ball control (75), dribbling (75), and acceleration (71). Due to his age and progress in development he's likely to be promoted before January to be available for loan.
RB - Willem Van Hout (50 OVR, 79-85): This 16-year old from Belgium is still very raw but exhibits good potential and coaches in the academy are trying to make sure he remains focused on working on developing his game. Doesn't possess the pace the team would like at the position but Marccelino is keeping more of an open mind when it comes to that after watching Nicolai Fernandes play.

I'm also back home after lovely two weeks and I have been reading through all the updates. As in Keano's case, a bit too much has happened but everything is looking great! I just need to get caught up on Moose and Aquaman's videos as I haven't had any time to watch them.
As far as my Stuttgart career goes, I need to finish playing the season and then I'll post the end of season update. This should hopefully be in the next few days.
