Re: Saving The Big XII...

I don't see how they look foolish at all. They played the expansion game into a pretty sweet deal as a matter of fact, and whether they went to the SEC or stayed in the B1+9 with their new deal, they came out better.

I can say that most people in Texas that Ive talked to are happy the Big 12 are staying together. As a fans standpoint their werent alot of people wanting to play in the Pac-10.

Re: Saving The Big XII...

How many people are going to watch the Texas Network? I mean, really, besides Texas-Oklahoma which is annually televised on ABC what other game is there to get excited about for football? And basketball.... are you serious? Who really cares about Texas basketball. I couldn't even watch them whenever they had Kevin Durant. It's basically Texas and the little nine 8iTcH3s in that conference now. They are letting Texas have whatever they want just so they can stay relevant and included in the Big 12 conference. So Baylor, Texas Tech, Missouri, Iowa State, Kansas and Kansas State doubled their pay-offs with the new Fox Sports television contract? Really? Fox Sports? Wow!!! Yet.... Texas triples their current pay-out and sweetens the pot for Oklahoma and Texas A&M (who used the SEC for leverage). It's great to see the rest of the conference bend over and take it from Texas. So what is the new Big XII going to be known as.... The Texas Ten Conference????

I like the sound of The Mack 10. There needs to be a thread with only pictures that describe the new Big One + Nine so I can post this:

Re: Saving The Big XII...

Texas actually gets the better deal out of this, as they get to play teams like Iowa State and Baylor again, now every year. They are now the big fish in the small pond, and I wouldn't be surprised to hear that this would be their plan all along.

There still is the problem of only having ten teams. They'll need to add two more in order to get the championship money, but from where I see it, the Big XII is no less than what it was when it had Colorado and Nebraska.

Foolish indeed.
Plus from a pride perspective they made Texas go from "LOL@AGGIE" to "I NEED YOU NOW."

I despise the greed and arrogance of the Horns with every fiber of my being, and it really pains me to say this...but I think you're selling UT short here. I'm convinced they knew exactly what they were doing all along. UT played the media, the other Big XII schools and the Pac 10 like a fiddle.

Beebe is confirming that MU, KU, KSU, BU and ISU all gave in and will give the buyout fee monies to UT, OU and A&M.
