In the interest of fairness, yes, that's better. But if a conference doesn't get their team in, how long will the agreement continue? As we've all noticed, the presidents aren't concerned in the best interests of the game. They are focused on their own position.

Didn't happen in 05 though. Next year is an unprecedented year. Next year, the Rose Bowl will have the "Rose Bowl Game" Jan 1st and the BCS Championship Game in The Rose Bowl a week later.

So does this mean that the Big Ten and Pac Ten winners will automatically be delegated to the Rose Bowl Game because of tradition?

Remember in 05 there was no Rose Bowl on Jan 1st and Penn St, the Big Ten winner did not receive the automatic bid to the Rose Bowl Championship Game.

it is really necessary to turn every post into a battle about PSU. There weren't mentioned once and yet you still found a way to bring them up.

No, believe it or not, i'm not looking for pity. I'm just using what happened to PSU in 05 as a case example, so to hopefully get a consensus of what OSers expect to happen next year when there are two bowl games at the Rose Bowl games for the first time ever.

Last time the BCS National Championship Game (in 05) was at the Rose Bowl, it was the only bowl game played at the Rose Bowl. Next year, there are two games, one on January 1st, and one a week later. After seeing what happened this year, it seems as if the Big Ten winner and Pac Ten winner may have to finish a full game ahead of any team in the Big XII or SEC (like finishing undefeated vs having 1 loss) to get into the BCS Championship Game.

I have a feeling if there are a lot of 1 loss teams again, the voters (especially next year with two Rose Bowl Games) won't vote the Big Ten or Pac Ten winner #1 or #2 because of "tradition" of a New Year's Day Rose Bowl. They didn't have this other "lesser" Rose Bowl Game to fall back on in 05 and PSU went to the Orange Bowl that year. I just want to know if anyone here thinks a Big Ten or Pac Ten team has a realistic shot at making the BCS Championship Game in the Rose Bowl next season? This isn't random. Having two bowl games at the Rose Bowl is a change from how it was 4 years ago. This is why I bring it up, not to get pity for PSU not making it in 05. It could happen to any Big Ten school next year, not just Penn St.

I have no idea what you are talking about.

What "didn't happen" in 2005?
