Today THQ/JAKKS Pacific announced that WWE Legends of WrestleMania will be released next March for the PS3 and Xbox 360, right around the time WrestleMania 25 occurs (which would be March 3rd). THQ/JAKKS are best known for publishing the WWE Smackdown vs. Raw series which is currently being developed by Yukes.

Team XBOX posted THQ's full press release but not too many details can be ascertained from the press release, besides the slogan of the game: "Prepare to relieve, rewrite or redefine history with WWE Legends of WrestleMania."

Hopefully more is learned about this new game in the coming months.

Owen Schmitt has gone from being a deranged West Virginia FB, to a 5th round Seattle Seahawk draftee, to now an EA Sports cover athlete (far left). Schmitt completes the cover athlete announcements for this year's NCAA Football franchise, and while Schmitt will always be more known for this incident than any other, fullbacks everywhere can be proud that their position hasn't been completely forgotten by the media.

We have just posted our review of Major League Baseball 2K8 Fantasy All-Stars for the Nintendo DS.

Quote:
"Much like The Bigs or Backyard Baseball, Major League Baseball 2K8 Fantasy All-Stars uses a distinct art style to plainly show that it isn’t a baseball simulation. In fact, I believe in my preview I said the art style was “acid induced madness” which is actually a compliment. The game needs some way to stand out and the Team Fortress 2-like art style circa the Super Nintendo-era is a very distinct way to do that."

We have just posted our review of Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds.

Quote:
"Playing-it-safe sums up the motto for Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds on the PlayStation 3. Now that’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it does mean that if you weren’t a fan of Hot Shots before then the PS3 version won’t make you a believer in the series. Of course if you were a fan of the series before then you will appreciate Clap Hanz’s effort to retain and improve upon what has always made the Hot Shots series great: gratifying RPG elements, under the hood depth, and an enjoyment level that is sometimes hard to find in the sports videogame world."

Chase Becotte of Operation Sports wrote up a hands-on preview of Major League Baseball 2k8 Fantasy All-Stars.

Quote:
"Let’s just get this out of the way: the art style in this game is absolute acid-trip induced madness. The mostly pastel color palette mixed with the extremely exaggerated body parts (huge calves and forearms, rail-thin wrists) will ensure that you realize from the get-go this game is not based on reality. And if the player models don’t give away the arcade-like nature of this game, then the fact that you play in such places as Alcatraz, Area 51, and an Aztec Temple should."

We finally round out our reviews of MLB '08: The Show with our PS2 review of the game, written by Chase Becotte.

Quote:
"When God of War 2 was released for the PS2 the popular thing to say was, “God of War 2 is the PS2’s swan song.” Yet more than a year later the PS2 is still motoring along, and quality titles like Persona 3 and, most recently, MLB ’08: The Show continue to arrive on the console. And make no mistake MLB ’08: The Show IS a quality title."

We recently posted our MLB '08: The Show review for the PSP by Chase Becotte.

Quote:
"There comes a time when every franchise hits a wall on any given platform, and the folks at SCE Studios San Diego have seemingly hit that wall on the PSP this year. MLB '08: The Show is now in its third iteration on the PSP, and while MLB '08 is still entirely competent and polished, any gamer who has played the previous two versions may feel a sense of déjà vu while playing the '08 version of The Show."

Operation Sports' Chase Becotte just posted our first Metareview, a new feature at OS, looking at how Major League Baseball 2k8 is doing with the critics.

Quote:
No single opinion should be taken as the end all be all, so at OS we want to be a hub for readers to get a wide range of opinions. So in addition to the info we provide via our review -- and the info the forum members bring to the table -- we also want to provide some excerpts from various MLB 2K8 reviews. That way people have not only the OS review and forums, but also some other interesting opinions from various types of gaming media outlets. An educated consumer is a happy consumer after all.

Want to know what's going to happen with Take-Two if they are bought by EA? The best way to predict the future is to look at the past and Operation Sports' Chase Becotte did just that. Check out his latest article discussing past companies EA has acquired and their fates:
"Back in 1982, Electronic Arts started out as a pioneering publishing house lead by founder and CEO Trip Hawkins. Fast forward 26 years and well, a lot has changed to say the least. Trip Hawkins left the company in 1991 to start the doomed 3DO console; in the same year Don Mattrick's old company, Distinctive Software, became the first major acquisition by EA -- Mattrick later became president of EA, and is presently the Senior VP of Microsoft's Entertainment and Devices division, which happens to be Peter Moore's former job."
