The Golf Club, the new highly customizable golf title by HB Studios, is currently in beta phase and inching closer to its retail release in the Spring. It's a golf simulator that has decided to use generic apparel and clubs(up to this point at least)and fictional courses. On top of that, the developers have included a very deep and detailed course creator for the community to create, upload, and share with everyone. Having been lucky enough to be a part of beta, and seeing the course creator first hand, I have come away nothing short of impressed. Not only does the in-house creator allow one to create the layout of the course, but it also affords one the opportunity to apply personal touches such as trees, buildings, water, bunkers, signs, elevation, and much more. While playing around with this magnificent tool of creation, it got my mind racing with all sorts of ideas, and the endless possibilities of implementation into other sports titles.

OK - I have just been informed that there will be an email sent over in the next few hours that will provide access to the Golf Club closed beta today. Myself and any others who were lucky enough to gain access will provide what information we can in this thread. Asking questions is not a problem, but understand we may not be able to answer them all. I will post in here as soon as I have the game installed and have spent spent some time with it.
We just ask that you be patient - Thanks!

There are very few fans more passionate about their sport than those embedded in NASCAR, and that passion is just as evident when it comes to the digital sport also. Ask any driver or fan and they will spends hours talking about how important the little details are to the sport, and how those details are what separate the perennial pole sitters, and the drivers fighting just to start in the top 35 each week.
Four years ago, the European developer Eutechnyx took on the monumental task of trying to replicate the intricate details of the beloved American sport on consoles, and now PC. Very few NASCAR titles have come close to doing that, and now we find out if the developers over at Eutechnyx were able to achieve just that, with the release of NASCAR ’14.

Digital golf fans were expecting the 2014 landscape to be rather barren, as EA’s Tiger Woods series had been placed into dormant status until next year. That means that if you were an early adopter and jumped from the PS3 or Xbox 360 to the new consoles, golf was simply not an option on the new consoles, or so we thought.
Enter HB Studios, a somewhat small development company located in Lunenberg, Nova Scotia, a group that up until now had been know more for their behind the scenes development on numerous less visible Electronic Arts titles.
In early 2013, the good folks at HB Studios decided to start developing a full blown golf simulation, The Golf Club, and now they are ready to share it with the world. We had the chance to sit down with the Peter Garcin, the executive producer for HB Studios, and talk about the games development, where they are currently at with it, and where they want to take it.

In 2011, little known Reiza Studios released Game Stock Car 2012 which was based on a popular Brazilian V8 racing series. While it flew under the radar, it actually ended up being one of the best racing sims released for the PC over the last decade. If you made the leap of faith and purchased then, than you fully understand the quality of the title. The AI was aggressive, smart, and talented – all while racing clean. The driving physics were spot on, and although the game was built on the dated gMotor2 engine, the look of the game had a vibrant, realistic look to it.
Reiza has now released their second version of their Brazilian driving simulator, aptly named Game Stock Car 2013. We had the chance to take Reizas' newest iteration out for a spin to see if it blows by the competition, or if it simply stuck in neutral.

The word simulation is thrown around quite liberally in the world of PC racing software, almost to the point where fans of the genre have become desensitized to its actually meaning. So when Italian game developer Kunos Simulazioni announced the development of their most recent title, Assetto Corsa, and claimed it to be the most realistic racing simulator ever – we were a bit skeptical, and obviously felt compelled to try it out. Once a simple one man show, Kunos has turned into a full-fledged development team with an abundance of resources and information at their disposal, and they seemingly know what they are doing.
So what is Assetto Corsa? Well according to Kunos it is a next-generation driving simulator with real world circuits, multiple car types, a virtual career mode, and multiplayer races.

If you’re a fan of the racing genre on the PC, than anytime you hear the phrase “developed by Simbin” you at least have your curiosity piqued. Simbin was a small modding group that eventually became a full development team based out of Sweden and is known for creating some of the best racing sims available on the PC today.
So when DTM:Experience was announced with very little fanfare , it took the PC racing community a bit by surprise. The DTM racing league, also known the Deutsceh Tourenwagen Masters, is a German touring car racing series that is extremely popular not only in Germany, but all over Europe. The cars in the series are built for speed, but also have the ability to absorb a bit of damage, which makes for some very entertaining races in real life.
With Simbin’s reputation for building racing games that adhere to real life physics and incredible handling, many could not wait to get their hands on this title. Now the big question is, should you?

When Swedish game developer Simbin announces the release of a new racing title, fans of the genre make sure to pay attention. The company has developed some of the most acclaimed racing sims for the PC, including the likes of the Race series, GT Legends, and the GTR series.
When they announced their newest release, DTM Experience, a niche German based racing series, it got the PC racing community excited and interested. We have spent some time with their current title for the PC, and there are some components of the title we really like so far, and some that have left us scratching our heads.

For years, Madden players have been accustomed to playing EA’s NFL franchise a certain way, and rightfully so. Due to the games shortcomings and exploits, gamers foundMadden to be less of a sim, and more of battle of “who can exploit the most – me, random online guy, or the AI?” That is never a good thing, and definitely not what players are looking for when they want a true NFL simulation experience - one they can feel great about when dropping $60 – on a yearly basis. Madden fans found it routinely easy to exploit the AI defense, the return game, the lack of a pocket (or need to stay within it), and the patterns that the AI typically displayed on both sides of the ball.

The Need For Speed series has been a constant on consoles for almost 20 years, and while there have been many ups and downs for the series, it has always drawn interest from racing fans. The series has also seen its fair share of developers, from EA Canada, Slightly Mad Studios, Criterion, and now Ghost Games.
The minute you fire up the newest release, in Need For Speed Rivals, fans of the series will notice a familiar feel as it closely resembles Criterion's Need For Speed: Most Wanted(2012) and Hot Pursuit(2010). And while that’s not bad thing, fans who were looking for a change of direction because of a new development team, might come away a bit disappointed. To be fair though, Ghost Games is comprised of a lot of former Criterion staff, hence the familiar feeling to the game.
The open world of racing returns with Need For Speed Rivals, and this time because of the newly implemented ALLDrive, the three worlds of single player, co-op, and multiplayer have all merged together in one setting. What this means is simply everything you do in the fictitious Redview County will be done together. That’s right – friends, A.I., and others will now all be on a server at once, and it makes for some interesting gameplay.

Since the days of NFL licensed electric football, people have been trying to replicate the pro game in their living rooms for ages. Back then people had to use their imagination quite a bit, but thankfully for today’s generation we can plop down on the couch and fire up our favorite video game consoles to do just that. With the release of Sony’s Playstation 4 on Friday, and Microsoft’s Xbox One release just around the corner, EA Sports has released their latest iteration of its NFL franchise, Madden 25.

When we released our early impressions of Need For Speed: Rivals for the PS4 on Saturday, we talked about having some fun with it, but needed to spend more time with the title to get a better overall feeling for it. We are happy to report that after doing just that, the fun factor has increased dramatically.
We have grown to love the visuals, especially the consistent frame rates no matter what action is taking place in fictional Review County. The action is fast paced, exciting, and most of all fun, and that is never a bad thing when it comes to the racing genre.

If you read the early impressions of Madden 25 we released on Saturday, then you know that we have found the game to be a obvious upgrade from the PS3 and Xbox 360 version, but we also had some issues with the game. The initial things we liked so far about the title on the PS4 (running game, line play, overall defense) we are liking even more as we spend more time with EA’s first next gen football title (that’s a good thing). The things we disliked, which are mostly carry-over issues from last gen, are more noticeable now and we assume will diminish the overall experience a bit more than they actually should.

While the launch lineup for the Playstation 4 is a healthy and robust one, it is lacking when it comes to the racing genre. After the delay of Drive Club, fans of the genre are really only left with one option, and that is EA’s Need For Speed: Rivals. We have spent some time with the newest Need For Speed title released and here are some quick impressions of what we liked, and what could be improved.
