If you read my first impressions of MLB 15: The Show's online experience, than you have a full understanding that after some very early testing in multiple settings, the reports were generally positive. Early on the only issue that we ran into was on-screen synching of what was being displayed.

As good as Sony San Diego’s MLB franchise has been for the last decade, the one consistent struggle has been the online portion, specifically connecting to another player and trying to play a simple head-to-head game. While results will vary greatly depending on who you talk to, the one description that rarely changes when describing MLB The Show online is inconsistency. When asked about the struggles, the developers have offered up multiple reasons why different people have varying degrees of moderate success to simply complete failure when attempting to play online, but I have yet to hear one that credibly explains why one can connect to a person eight states away and have a decent experience, but when that same person attempts to connect to a friend eight blocks away, they get the dreaded “connection failed” message.

Sometimes the luck just isn't with your franchise.
In our last article we talked about moves that we think will have a true positive impact for the respective team in the upcoming 2015 NFL season. As with every subject though, there is always a counterpoint. Here are some of the moves that not only have us questioning the front office of some of these NFL teams, but we are sure the majority of their fan base is doing the same.

Now appearing in Miami.
Watching the NFL free agency period play out in 2015, I find myself wanting to equate it to the trading and free agency system in Madden 15, by EA Sports. If members of an online CFM tried to pull these trade tactics, they would either be mocked endlessly, or flat out banned from the league. With that said though, just as in any given NFL free agency period, there were some clear winners, clear losers, and moves that just flat out made no sense.

It’s been just over two months since the initial release of Forza Horizon 2, by Turn 10 and Playground Games, and while there have been multiple car-packs released, the first DLC has finally released. Storm Island is available.
Whoever came up with the name Storm Island needs a pat on the back, because that is exactly what this new DLC is. It’s going to twist you, it’s going to turn you, and it’s going to wreak havoc on your car and your nerves. While that may sound like the next great tagline, trust us when we say, it is very appropriate.

If you’re an older sports gamer, than you probably have fond memories of past baseball games such as Ken Griffey Jr.’s Winning Run, R.B.I Baseball (Classic version) and Baseball Stars. What do all of these games have in common? Well, that would be a simple, engaging, and fun approach to America’s past time. While games like this are a rarity these days, the ambitious developer, Metalhead, aims to bring a small piece of that era back, with Super Mega Baseball. Did they succeed?

Although the baseball video game market is hardly represented on the console side of things, the one game that is available, MLB The Show by Sony of San Diego, does a great job of filling the simulation void. So what if you like the game of baseball, but are not interested in all the details that coincide with a simulation of the sport of baseball?

As NASCAR fans watched the finale in Homestead, one has to wonder as a video game fan, why we have no next-gen version of NASCAR yet?
Obviously Eutechnyx is the latest developer to take a crack at the NASCAR series, but with releases only on the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, the develpoer has left early adopter fans standing on pit road with no ride or sponsorship.
The history of NASCAR console video games is littered with failed attempts. There have been multiple efforts on consoles, and most have left fans wondering if the developers even watched the sport they were trying to digitally recreate.

It has been nearly four months since the initial release of the Golf Club by HB studios, available on the Xbox One, PS4, and PC. If you were part of the early beta program, or just followed the early feedback given by the community, than you have a full understanding of the changes and improvements that the developers have implemented over the last few months, and the list is quite extensive. Just some of the more recent improvements involve frame rate optimization, multiplayer issues, course designer improvements, physics update, and much more. But even with all the recent updates, we feel there are some areas that still need to be tweaked and improved in order for the title to stay relevant over the coming months, especially once EA Sports’ PGA Golf title drops in the Spring of 2015.

When NBA Live 15 hit retail shelves a few weeks back, the expectations from the community ranged anywhere from extremely skeptical to extremely optimistic, and rightfully so. The marketing of NBA Live 15, or lack thereof, forced the Live community to either have faith in developer rhetoric or to simply draw upon their own conclusion as to the level of quality of this year’s iteration.
Upon finishing the review of the game, in which I noted multiple problem areas with Live ’15, my ultimate goal was to continue spending time with the title and see how the issues would affect its replay value. Throughout the review process I also noted how much fun the game was, even with its issues, but would that continue?
Luckily for me, and hopefully for the majority of others who purchased Live 15, the answer is yes.

Coming off of last year’s less than stellar debut on the PS4 and the Xbox One, the development team behind NBA Live 15 had a lot of work to do in just one development cycle if it planned on competing with the behemoth known as NBA 2K. Even if you set the competition aspect aside, earning the trust back from a fan-base is a difficult path. Although one could see the potential in the Live debut title, it takes more than potential and aspirations to warrant a $60 purchase. The question now is has there been enough improvement for people to start to have faith in the series and developers again? That’s what we are about to find out.

Although fans of sports video games have watched the choices dwindle dramatically over the years, one of the titles gamers can always count on being available is an NBA game. The options may limited, but no one has done NBA games better than the NBA 2K team. NBA 2K, while not perfect, has been consistent in bringing the most authentic style of NBA hoops to your console and PC for some time. With the release of NBA 2K15, we wanted to take a look at the gameplay additions and tweaks, and see if the newest edition is a slam dunk, or if it hits back-iron as time expires.

Very few developers have the reputation that Turn 10 has of Microsoft Studios, and they have it for a good reason. Having churned out quality Forza racing titles since 2005, the studio has always found a way to make each new release feel fresh and redesigned, without sacrificing the core formula that has made the Forza Franchise so beloved over the last decade-plus.
In 2012 the studio branched off from the standard Forza racing genre and released Forza Horizon on the Xbox 360. It was a different take on the Forza series, that saw the user dropped into a open world racing festival type atmosphere, and gave them the ability to play the game as they saw fit.
Here we are two years later, and now Turn 10 and Playground games is at it again, only this time they have power of the Xbox One to accompany them along their journey. Now the question is, is the journey worth it?

One of the advantages that the next-gen version of NHL 15 has going for it is the actual gameplay itself, which is a huge plus. While this factor alone may not be enough for even the staunchest of hockey fan to warrant a purchase, those who have taken the plunge have experienced firsthand what is capable on the new systems.
