Have you been wondering why games just don't seem to be innovating any more? Chris Sanner's latest article talks about why two of the bigger releases in 2008 might be giving hints at the current trends of gaming developers. Check out his article, Two Big Releases Reveal Trends in Gaming.

Quote:
"This year it seems like EA is finally getting with the program -- starting with its '09 lineup of sports titles. Instead of trying to reinvent the wheel, EA is instead choosing to try to improve the overall experience by adding more detail and thus, depth to the experience. This is a trend that is hopefully starting with NCAA and Madden and will hopefully continue with the rest of the titles in the lineup."

"You may have heard the following phrases used from time to time.

Look! It's a bird! It's a Plane! It's ...

Not Superman. But ... Digital Bo Jackson!?!

Then there's the one about when Digital Bo Jackson does pushups, he's not pushing himself up, but he's pushing the world down. (Sorry Chuck. Bo Knows Pushups)."

Nowadays it seems that every sport has a hall of fame, from football all the way to softball -- even the WWE now has a hall of fame to honor its best performers throughout history. Unfortunately, sports video games have not had an official hall of fame, until now.

Operation Sports' Chris Sanner takes a look at lessons that sports games can learn from Grand Theft Auto IV.

Quote:
"Let me preface this article by saying Operation Sports has caught on to the Grand Theft Auto IV craze as well, so I'm very sorry if you have been trying to avoid the game for some reason or another. Most gamers these days seem to be playing GTA IV (as evidenced by my Live friends list), so it is only natural the staff members at Operation Sports catch the craze as well."
