Vikings defense carries them over the Seahawks

The Vikings defense has been suspect all year, but they shut down Marshawn Lynch today and held Russell Wilson to 0 touchdowns and under 200 yards. Christian Ponder and Victor Cruz hooked up early and often for 12 completions and over 100 yards, and a score. The Vikings scored 21 points in the 2nd quarter, and never needed to look back, as the defense held the Seahawks to 13. The Vikings go to 7-2 on the year, and the Seahawks fall to 4-5.

Game Notes
The Vikings coming off an emotional win at home, travel to Seattle to take on the 4-4 Seahawks. The Seahawks have used a combination of hard running and Russel Wilson to win games this year, but their defense has let them down. The Vikings are still starting off games slow, forcing Ponder to lead them back in the second half.

Vikings beat Buccaneers on miraculous last second touchdown to Victor Cruz

The Vikings offense struggled all night on Thursday Night Football, with Christian Ponder heading into the 4th quarter with 2 interceptions, no touchdowns and 150 yards. Adrian Peterson was being held under 80 yards with a score. And the duo of Harvin and Cruz were scoreless. The Bucs took a 31-27 lead with 49 seconds to go, and the Vikings had 3 timeouts.
Christian Ponder drove the Vikings to the 16 yard line, and with no time on the clock, hurled a pass to Victor Cruz in the back of the end zone, for the improbable victory to move them to 6-2. This game will be looked at as a season defining win if the Vikings move on to the postseason.

Thursday Night Football in Minneapolis featuring the 2-4 Buccaneers and the 5-2 Vikings. The Vikings were ran all over by the Cardinals last week in a defensive slump, while the Bucs are still trying to find their way. The Vikings will go back to their fundamentals, which means putting the game into Adrian Peterson's hands.

Vikings lose 1st game at home after a mistake prone afternoon

The Vikings let Beanie Wells score 3 touchdowns, and they gave the ball up twice in their own territory. That is asking to lose. The defense couldn't tackle, and the offense couldn't get the ball into the endzone, they had to settle twice for chip shot field goals from Blair Walsh. The Vikings need to get out of this slump they've been in of starting games slow.

Game Notes
The 5-1 Vikings face a 4-2 Cardinals team that has been playing great defense. They'll need it to slow down Adrian Peterson and the duo of Harvin and Cruz. The Cardinals rely on a strong rushing attack and heavy doses of Larry Fitzgerald. The Vikings use their 3-0 homefield record to their advantage, playing on the crowd noise to take control of the game. The Vikings defense finally stepped up on turnovers last week, getting 3 interceptions.

Vikings defense finally comes alive for 3 interceptions in close victory

Robert Griffin III torched the Vikings on the ground for 117 yards, but through the air he had trouble. The Vikings increased their season total of interceptions from 1 to 4 today, with 2 from Mistral Raymond, and 1 from the veteran Antoine Winfield. Besides a late blown coverage on Santana Moss for a 68 yard score, the Vikings pass defense played superb. The Vikings offense did it's usual thing, marching up and down the field with quick strikes to Harvin & Cruz, and running the rock with Peterson & Gerhart. 2 more touchdowns for Peterson on the day, and another from Ponder to Harvin. The Vikings continue to roll at 5-1, and it will be interesting to see how they perform against stronger opponents if their defense continues to play like this.

Game Notes
The surprising 4-1 Vikings travel to Washington to take on Robert Griffin III and the Redskins, who are sitting at 1-4. The reason for their 1-4 start has been the poor performance of their defense, allowing over 34 points a game. They look to slow down the top 10 Minnesota Viking offense.

Vikings sputter against weak Titans team, but second half surge leads them back
The Vikings had a tough time with an 0-4 TItans team in the first half, allowing Chris Johnson and Darius Reynaud to run for almost 100 yards total, and the Titans led 16-10 at halftime after a Percy Harvin touchdown catch. But the Vikings tuned it into high gear in the second half, with Brian Robison and the Vikings defense racking up 5 more sacks, and the Vikings offense leading the way, as Adrian Peterson rushed for another score, and Victor Cruz caught his first touchdown as a Viking. The Vikings improve to a surprising 4-1, while the disappointing Titans fall to 0-5

Game Notes
The Vikings boast the 15th ranked offense in the NFL and the 4th best defense, and are facing one of the league's worst teams. The Tennessee Titans have the 27th ranked defense, and the 22nd ranked offense. The Titans have been a huge disappointment this year, and the Vikings have been a huge surprise. It will be interesting to see how the Titans gameplan against Adrian Peterson, who is having one of his best years as a pro.

Despite huge performance from Matthew Stafford, Lions cannot contain Vikings offense

The Vikings exploded for 28 points in the first half, fueled by two 90+ yard receiving days from Percy Harvin and recently acquired Victor Cruz. Adrian Peterson had another huge day, adding 2 more touchdowns to an already outstanding year. The defense struggled for the first time this year against the high powered offense. They managed to contain Calvin Johnson until the 4th quarter when he caught a 70 yard bomb that put the Lions back in the game. But the Vikings defensive line sacked Stafford 3 times on the drive to bring an end to any comeback hopes. The Vikings go to 3-1, while the Lions fall to 2-2.
