Prior to matchup versus Vikings, Packers place Clay Matthews on Injured Reserve
Due to a pectoral tear in the preseason, Clay Matthews told coach Mike McCarthy he could play this year, but the cornerstone linebacker for the Packers is too valuable to the team, and General Manager Ted Thompson takes no chances. He placed his star on Injured Reserve the night before the divisional matchup with the NFC North Champ Minnesota Vikings

Minnesota Vikings schedule released
Vikings schedule is surprisingly easier than expected. We only face 2 playoff teams from last year, including the Philadelphia Eagles, the team that knocked the Vikings out of the playoffs.
We have 2 Sunday Night Football Games, one against the Saints at home in Week 2, and one against the Lions at home in Week 5.

Vikings Offseason
The Vikings look to return to the playoffs this year, and they feel set at offense. The only weakness at the offensive line is Right Guard, which will more than likely be addressed in the draft.
The Vikings will be looking to find Antoine WInfield's successor soon, and they will more than likely look to draft corners.

Cinderella season comes to an end for the VIkings
The Vikings faced against the league MVP, and the greatest offense in the NFL this year. They allowed 300 yards rushing, they were down 14-0 in the first quarter, but they still almost won the game. The Vikings run defense was not ready for the rushing attack of LeSean McCoy and Michael Vick, and the Eagles realized this early. The Eagles drove down the field on their first two drives and capitalized on both, leading 14-0 early. But as time expired, Christian Ponder threw a beautiful rainbow down the field to Victor Cruz, cutting the lead in half.
Adrian Peterson tied the game in the 2nd quarter at 14 with a 2 yard dive. But Michael Vick led the Eagles down the field again to increase the lead to 21-14 with a Jeremy Maclin touchdown. But Christian Ponder drove the Vikings downfield with 40 seconds left for a Blair Walsh field goal.
The second half consisted of two Alex Henery field goals, and a long touchdown to Percy Harvin. Christian Ponder played as well as Michael Vick, and his lone interception was on a heave to the end zone as time expired.
The Vikings season came to an end against the league MVP and the league-leading offense. But there is hope for the future, a lot of hope. The VIkings were supposed to win 3-4 games this year, and instead they came seconds away from the NFC Championship Game. This offseason, the Vikings front office will no doubt look to add some more talent around Christian Ponder to make another playoff run.

Rex Ryan, Lovie Smith, and Marvin Lewis have all been fired today
News out of New York, Cincinnati and Chicago all say that the three respective head coaches have all been fired after disappointing seasons. Rex Ryan put his job on the line for Mark Sanchez, and he paid the price, while the firing of Lovie Smith is surprising, considering the talent he has assembled in Chicago, and his history there. The coaching carousel has already begun, and we are sure it isn't over.
Vikings win shootout at Metrodome in Wild Card Round
Christian Ponder had his best day as a pro, and it couldn't have come at a better time. He threw 3 touchdowns, 2 to his favorite target Victor Cruz, which is easily the best offseason move of the year in the NFL. Adrian Peterson had a huge day, racking up 170 yards and a score. This was a close game the entire way through, but the game changing moment was Ponder throwing a beautiful touchdown to Cruz as time expired in the first half, then scoring on their first drive of the second half, making the score 28-14, and too big of a deficit to overcome for Seattle.

Vikings end great season by defeating Packers
What a disappointing season for the Green Bay Packers. They were favored to win the NFC North, and they end up with a 7-9 record, and many questions surround the defense, and the run game. Cedric Benson mustered just 36 yards on 22 carries and left the game with an injury, likely ending his time in Green Bay. On the other side, the Vikings run game impressed, as Peterson rushed for over 200 yards and a score, and although Ponder was rocky at times, he threw 2 scores, including a long one to Harvin.
The VIkings will move on to the playoffs, and with Victor Cruz coming back, they have to like their chances.
