Might just wait for a patch...
But then again, getting excited about starting up a new Madden franchise. I'm thinking Bills?
My plan would be to play strictly coach mode and, because we can now apparently change teams within the franchise, I plan to set some basic goals and effectively "fire" myself (or possibly move to another teams if offered a very lucrative contract with another organization) pending the season outcome.
Stand by!!!

Offline Franchise mode...Madden 12.
Keep the excellent news coming!!!
Keep the excellent news coming!!!

Hi All!
I have been playing ahead of my write-ups and have been overlooking quite a bit in terms of the game play and the overall Madden 11 experience. But the latest has simply turned me completely off.
- I can overlook the commentary being out of sync regularly.
- I can overlook my being told I'm playing for the Super Bowl in the pre-season against the Browns before the game starts???
- I can forgive the shots of nobody just before an important field goal, then having the action cut to the kicker putting it through the up-rights.
- I simply do not know enough about the programming of the game to question how good or bad it really is (whether using default all-pro, Bills or Mike32Ownz sliders to try and achieve a realistic look and stats), so I'll reserve comment on the actual game play.
- I can even forgive Chris Collingsworth for repeating the same quarterback profile before every game
But sorry...I just filed the following in the bugs/glitches thread and frankly, this tears it. This is not an opinion on game flow or the game play. This is not a questioning of the timing of the play by play. This isn't even a judgment of whether Gus is better this year??? It is (to me) another fatal flaw in the game.
I think I'm just going to move on.
I'll go play NHL11...and maybe do a dynasty with that once the season starts?!?
IF and/or WHEN the Madden 11 game is patched or polished in some way so that it works, then maybe I'll pick it up again. I truly have given it my best shot!
SYSTEM: Ps3
GAME MODE: Franchise (Coach Mode)
SITUATION (This includes down/distance/time left): Post Game Stats!
CUSTOMIZATION (Were you using specific sliders/roster edits): Bills Sliders
DETAILS (Please be as detailed as possible in text): Bears vs. Redskins Week 7. I'm getting stomped. BUT Grossman fumbles, Manning picks up the ball and goes 52 yards for a TD!!!
Play was challenged by Wash
The show endless replays of Manning crossing the goal line, NOTHING to do with the challenge of Grossman being DOWN before ball coming out
Play was eventually OVERTURNED
I lose my six points and game continues
At the end of the game the final is announced 23-0 in favour of Washington. I go to the game summary stats (to record for my Franchise write-up). I see a line score that shows 23-6 with the Manning Touchdown recorded in the 3rd quarter score box and also in the scoring plays!!!
With due respect, I have overlooked a lot of things in M11, but so many little things (or a rather significant error in this case) pop up that simply HAVE to have been recognized by anyone that created or tested the game IF THEY PLAYED SOME GAMES...even RIGHT NOW!
I am NOT a *****.
I have faithfully documented a couple of franchises in the OS dynasties.
But sorry, I'm out!
This game will sit on the shelf unless and until it's fixed.
I truly regret my purchase.
VIDEO (if available): No need!

Bears self-destruct on Broadway
Let's be very clear...We lost this game! In no way did the Giants win this one!
If you look at the stats, we were more than solid, except for turnovers and the score, of course!
Here's the game for you in sixty seconds:
It doesn't matter whether you can march it up and down the field at will and put tremendous stats up, IF you can't follow that up with minimizing your own mistakes and putting up more points than the opposition. We have now had several games this year where we have clearly been the better team BUT mental errors, lack of finish and players not stepping up to fill injuries, when they are given the chance, have produced losses.
This simply has to end!
We are now 1-3 on the year and could quite easily be undefeated!
I do not like the taste of last place!

Packers edge Bears on Monday Night!
I was hoping for a bounce-back from the previous week, when we were stomped by the Cowboys and the team responded nicely. Unfortunately it wasn't quite enough to produce a win, in front of a national TV audience on Monday Night Football, but we played a spirited game against a very good Packers team.
This game turned out to be a bit of a track meet up and down the field. Both Cutler and Rodgers were throwing at will it seemed, punctuated by only a couple of tries at running the ball, just to put "play action" into the heads of the defense it seemed.
Johnny Knox was Cutler's go-to guy this game, with seven catches and 97 yards!
We dominated the clock, for the most part, but just had trouble finishing. Plus a ton of penalties seemed to bog the game down at times.
I'm a bit disappointed because I thought we had what it took to win this one and I certainly don't want defeat to creep into our everyday language at this point in the season. We have plenty of time, but simply have to finish and put some W's up!
On the injury front, we were again devastated when we lost CB Corey Graham to a disk problem. He'll be gone 9 weeks! That puts our top three return men on the sidelines now as he joins Hester and Manning. And we're still 5 weeks away from the return of Brian Urlacher. This has not been a good year from an injury standpoint!

Ouch! That's going to leave a mark!
I'm frankly a little leery about watching some of the wrap-up shows this weekend on TV. We simply were spanked by Dallas and didn't seem to have an answer.
I will just mention, once again, that we have both Urlacher and Hester down with lengthy injuries (and SS Danieal Manning has also been on that list since the pre-season). And during the Dallas game we also lost DE Julius Peppers for most of the second half as well. Thankfully his injury is not serious and he should be back for the Packers next week. So, needless to say, we were suffering a bit. And the Cowboys came in injury free naturally!
That said, we also didn't mount much of an offensive effort this week. There was virtually zero chemistry between Jay Cutler and either the receivers or running backs. We just never seemed to get out of first gear. In fact, come the forth quarter Coach Smith went to Todd Collins just to see if we could spark anything at all. That produced 14 points in the fourth quarter, but it was too little too late AND we also let them put 21 on the board during that same quarter, so we didn't even win that game-within-a-game!
This was a brutal game! And it will be a very big character test to see how we respond against our rivals the Green Bay Packers back home next Sunday. I hope that we can get in some great sessions this week, on the field and with film, and put this thing back on the rails before we find ourselves playing catch-up the rest of the way!
While Romo certainly lit us up, I was quite happy with what Todd was able to do in the fourth. But, no excuses...we just have to get better...fast.

Week #1 Rivalry Renewed - Lions @ Bears
Our objective coming in against the rival Lions was to manage the game, keep their big players in check and make sure we came away with a victory. I'm happy to say that the players did a heck of a job in following Coach Smith's game-plan and we did gain the first couple of points of the new season!
The great news is that both Jay Cutler, continuing his strong pre-season, and Matt Forte, relishing every catch and carry, had very strong games.
We wanted to run and we wanted to use that to buy Jay some time with the play action we could run off of that. Forte had 68 yards on the ground and caught 5 more. And it turns out we really needed Matt to step up because we were again unfortunately bitten by the injury bug when Devin Hester WR went down with a partial ACL tear. Hester will be gone for 9 weeks! And on top of the Brian Urlacher injury, that's two keys pieces, one offense and one defense, that we will definitely miss through the first half of this season.
I would also very much like to single out some names on the defensive side of the ball. While the Lions initially had some success on the ground, we kept pressure on them throughout the game and late in the game that pressure started to wear them down.
Sacks went to Wootton, Briggs, Steltz, Anderson and Tommie Harris. I really hope we have planted the seed that the Bears will get to you!!!
A great way to open the 2010 regular season.

Bears invade Cleveland and handle the Browns
Unfortunately our stats people seemed to have an off night and we neglected to collect the same levels of stats as we normally do each week of the season.
* My fault. It was late...finished the game...thought I could revisit the stats at a later time...shut down the ps3...then found the "pre-season over, would you like to advance to regular season" was my only option when trying to access the stats after the fact. I have learned!
We simply dominated the Browns in this one. The score flatters them and does not do us justice. We were able to try a lot of things and work through a lost of our line-up in this one. I think this not only put the last game quickly out of mind, but also gave us great confidence heading to the regular season, especially with not having Brian at MLB for this one (both physically and mentally for the rest of the team)!
Couple of items:
The Bears have signed free agent MLB Akin Ayodele to a 1 year agreement. Akin will back up our MLB position and give us depth on defensive when Urlacher returns too!
Unfortunately we also learned late in the game that we've also lost SS Danieal Manning for six weeks with a torn hamstring injury.
I really hope we've dealt with most of the tough injuries early and have relatively smooth sailing through the regular season!

Cardinals take Bears
It's only pre-season!
How many times have we heard that to explain a loss? Probably quite often. While I won't use it as an excuse, it is good to remember that when you do drop one. This game however, was a very close affair. In fact right up until the last half of the fourth quarter, this one could literally have gone either way.
Our defense dominated the Cards, with four sacks while pressuring the quarterbacks. Although Derek Anderson had a decent night, we also made things pretty tough for him.
Both Todd Collins and Devin Hester had great games on offense. Hester put together 4 runs for 103 yards and a touchdown.
Unfortunately not all was upside in this one. We lost Brian Urlacher with a collarbone break and he'll be sidelined for 10 weeks! This will undoubtedly force me to find another MLB to put behind Hunter Hillenmeyer. I'll make some calls and announce that shortly.
Speaking of signings, we did add another offensive linemen, for just a bit more depth across the front. The Bears have signed free agent LG Seth Olsen to a one year contract.
We have one more pre-season game to go, a Thursday nighter with the Browns in Cleveland. And we'll be ready!

Bears WIN Pre-Season Home Opener
Yes, it's the pre-season, but what another solid game from the team. Under the direction of Todd Collins we were able to do pretty much anything we wanted to do and certainly did as we tested not only the playbook but also many of the players to get great looks at the roster.
Oakland certainly struggled. As you can see in the stats, the were rather undisciplined, taking 11 penalties for a total of almost a football field, while we stayed very calm and cool.
I would like to single out the play of Chester Taylor once again. He is having a great pre-season! Olsen, and C.Harris also had outstanding games.

Bears WIN Pre-Season Opener
As with any pre-season game, it was a time to transition from practice to playing a real game, shaking the game rust off and hitting a few people on the other team in the process.
While we started slow and Coach Smith moved people in and out so he could have a good look at all his players, we did pick up the pace in the second half. In fact, only because of some late game errors, the score actually flattered the Chargers to a degree.
Jay had an outstanding game during the time he was behind centre and looked in mid-season form. And all of us were very impressed with Chester Taylor's work in the first pre-season game of 2010.

As I mentioned, one of my first jobs is to review what we have and make adjustments to the depth chart as needed.
Once I had plotted all the players, I found that we had a wealth of receivers and needed some help to backup the offensive line before we could step on the field for pre-season week #1. So, after discussing things with Coach Smith, we made a couple of calls and sought out some help on the O-Line.
Trade: TE Kellen Davis to Buffalo for G Cordaro Howard & Draft Pick 7
* We felt we had depth at receiver and decided to move one of our Tight Ends. Howard should backup Roberto Garza on the O-Line.
Trade: DT Henry Melton to Arizona for C Ben Claxton
* We also felt we had enough depth at the DT position to spare one and backup our Centre position in the process. Ben Claxton, coming over from the Cardinals, will do just that!
I would like to add one more body on the O-Line just in case and we may do that over the pre-season schedule at some point, sooner, rather than later, so that player can become familiar with the playbook.
The Chargers come first as we travel to the west coast to see what we have!

Start of a New Era in Chicago!
From the Desk of the General Manager
Chicago Bears
I am very pleased to announced that I have accepted a brand new position as General Manager of the Chicago Bears. I had to grapple with several offers, but because The Bears have a storied history and have tasted success I couldn't pass up the opportunity to take on this new challenge.
My job is a very simply one - Ensure the on-going success of the Bears and lead them again to the Super Bowl!
As I step into the role we are just about to get into the pre-season. Looking down the depth chart, one of my first actions is to fill a couple of holes and make sure Coach Smith has all the tools required heading into the new year.
Over the next little while my office will release information about moves that must be made to fill out the depth chart as we prepare for our first pre-season encounter in San Diego.
I'm very excited to be here and I'm completely focused on bring a championship to Chicagoland! Welcome to the Start of a New Era in Chicago!

49ers Super Bowl Champions!
The San Francisco 49ers used legendary quarterback Tony Romo and the human tank Frank Gore to chew threw the Buffalo Bills on their way to the Super Bowl!
This was a decent game, very close on the stat sheet, but in the end, the 49ers were simply able to dominate where and when they had to and were able to put points up when they counted most! And in the end, it was timely passes and giving the ball to Gore to chew through yards on the ground that spelled the difference!
The Bills, while they had their moments, especially courtesy of Johnnie Lee Higgins and Leodis McKelvin, each scoring a touchdown, were not the team this day. Most disappointing is that after many years removed from their Super Bowl runs in the early 90's they were unable to deliver the elusive prize for the fans in Buffalo and now own an 0-5 Super Bowl record. Hopefully they are poised to make a repeat appearance next season?
* With that, and because Madden 11 just arrived HERE today, I think I will close this dynasty and, after working with the new game for a period of time to explore what's new and the same - and in franchise I understand it will be very similar, I WILL BE BACK!
Ultimately, I would LOVE to run parallel dynasties (either BILLS or BROWNS in AFC and the BUCS in the NFC) to see if I can, naturally, go all the way or "maybe" even have those two teams MEET one day in the Super Bowl. Might be a tad ambitious...we'll see...but either way, I will be starting up a NEW DYNASTY as soon as I spend some time with 11.
I would like to thank everyone that viewed even a small chunk of this dynasty - it was a blast writing the evolving Chiefs franchise. And I would like to also thank everyone that sent a comment or asked a question here and there.
I am DEFINITELY not an NFL expert, but as I've said before, the further removed from the opening day roster, the more it becomes MY team and not the current version of, in this case, The Chiefs!
SEE YOU VERY SOON!
THANKS AGAIN
THANKS AGAIN
