MONTREAL, FEB. 2 - James Van Riemsdyk scored his fourth goal in just five games and it proved to be the differential between the Jets and the Canadiens as the visitors won the game by the score of 2-1. Montreal has been struggling this season, sitting only ahead of the Florida Panthers in the Eastern Conference standings, however they put on a fight against the high-flying Jets and even scored first, but Ladd and Van Riemsdyk tallied to give the win to Winnipeg.

On a sad note, Zach Bogosian left the game with an upper body injury in the third and didn't come back. The evaluation is still pending.

WINNIPEG, JAN. 31 - The hockey gods were against the Jets in their last game versus the Canucks. Add to this the fact that Vancouver's defense played really well and their goalie was inspired. The result? A shutout.
The game didn't start well for the home team, with Olli Jokinen scoring an own goal after the puck bounced off Pavelec's pad. The goal was credited to Jannik Hansen. 13 minutes afterwards, with just 30 seconds to finish the first period, Ryan Kesler did a great one-man effort, stealing the puck from the defense and scoring the second goal for the 'Nucks.
For the ensuing two periods, it was a game of one team. The Jets dominated and Vancouver didn't have any other good chance to score, but the visitors parked the bus and played a very physical hockey to secure the win and the shutout.
This was the first time this season that the Jets were held scoreless for an entire game (against the Bruins they scored in overtime after the finishing 0-0 in the regulation time).
Up next for Winnipeg: The struggling Canadiens, at Montreal.

WINNIPEG, JAN. 28 - James Van Riemsdyk scored his third goal in the last three games and the Jets erased an early one goal deficit to beat the Nashville Predators in the overtime. It was a really close game but the Jets managed to get out with a win after Olli Jokinen scored in the overtime (after a pass from Van Riemsdyk, picking his second point of the night)

The Jets now have a break of 2 days before facing the Vancouver Canucks at MTS Centre.

CHICAGO, JAN. 26 - The Jets traveled 1155 kilometers to face the Chicago Blackhawks in the same day, on the second night of a back-to-back, but this fact alone wasn't enough to slow the team as they escaped with an overtime victory after a goal by Antoine Vermette.
Winnipeg's defense seemed to feel the effects of playing two games in two nights, starting the game in a slow pace and allowing two goals by Marian Hossa (one of them after a fumbled puck from Bogosian), but the team bounced back with a beautiful backhanded goal by Andrew Ladd to take the game to overtime.
In the OT, Vermette's one-timer was too much for Labarbera, giving the win to the visitors.

Note: this was the third Blackhawks game that finished in overtime fashion. Chicago is 0-3 in these games.

WINNIPEG, JAN. 25 - Reimer did an awesome job against his former team, blanking the Leafs and leading the way for a 3-0 win for the Winnipeg Jets. James Van Riemsdyk, another ex-Maple Leaf, also played well, being good as usual in the PK unit (the Jets once again had a major penalty for game misconduct called against them, but it was successfully killed) and scoring an empty netter to ice the game for the Jets.
Hutchinson performed well in his return to MTS Centre, but it wasn't enough as his team seemed apatic on the ice, having problems to solve the Jets' defense and, most important, goalie. Evander Kane, out with an upper body injury, did not played.

NOTE: Michal Rozsival came back from his arm injury after being out for 5 games. The defenseman did well in his return, picking up an assist.
Toronto's Phil Kessel was also injured in the game. The evaluation is still pending.

SAN JOSE, JAN. 23 - It wasn't a successful trip through the Golden State for the Jets as they dropped the second straight game. This time, they lost to the San Jose Sharks in a high scoring battle where nobody could stop Patrick Marleau. The veteran forward participated in all of the Sharks' goals, scoring 4 and grabbing one assist to lift his team for a win.
Even with this outstanding performance by Marleau, the Jets managed to send the game to overtime, but a late regulation penalty proved to be determinant as the home team entered the extra period with an one-man advantage on the ice and scored the game winning goal.
For the next game, the Jets go back to Winnipeg to face the Maple Leafs.

ANAHEIM, JAN. 21 - The Jets shot the puck twice as much as the Ducks did it, but this wasn't enough as Frederik Andersen was inspired and saved all but one shot.
Both teams played really well on defense and only scored on deflections, with clear shots being rarely conceded. But Andersen made the difference after saving 43 shots and both shootout attempts by Van Riemsdyk and Wheeler. Perry and Getzlaf scored to give Anaheim the extra point.

WINNIPEG, JAN. 18 - It was a wild game with lots of penalties, shots and goals, but the Jets managed to beat the visiting Oilers. James Van Riemsdyk had an awesome performance and helped the Jets build an early 3-0 lead, but it quickly vanished as the match turned into a back and forth battle of scoring.
The special units were a determinant factor in the game as there were a total of 9 penalties, 6 favoring the Oilers and 3 favoring the Jets. But Winnipeg, once again, turned a disadvantage into an advantage and scored a Shorty with J. Slater. Edmonton answered scoring by converting 2 of these 6 power plays.
In the end, the Oilers kept the game close, but an empty netter by Vermette finally iced it for the Jets.

CALGARY, JAN. 16 - Another cheap goal (Note: come on, EA... two in a row? This is getting ridiculous) allowed by a Jets goalie made the game close. Mark Scheifele got the puck after it hit the post and Monahan just poked it to the goal.

At least the goal woke up the team, as they tied the game just minutes after it. Them, in the overtime, Ekman-Larsson scored his first goal as a Jet (he had an assist in this game already) to pick up a much needed road win to Winnipeg.

Up next, the Jets face the other Alberta team, but it will be at MTS Centre

WINNIPEG, JAN. 13 - The Winnipeg Jets suddenly find themselves as losers of 3 from the last 4 games. One of the main reasons for this recent struggle may be the once again lackluster goaltending or even the poor play displayed by the offense. Both happened again vs the Phoenix Coyotes in the team's last game, as Slater and Jeffrey lost incredible goals and Pavelec allowed in a dumped puck from Vrbata. The Jets still managed to rally in the third period, but it really wasn't their day and they fell one goal short.

WINNIPEG, JAN. 11 - With Scheifele and Frolik back from their minor injuries, the Jets' offense still didn't find its groove, but did enough to beat the Blue Jackets by the score of 3-1 despite a great game from Columbus' goalie Sergei Bobrovsky. WINNIPEG, JAN. 7 - The Jets are clearly missing their injured forwards, mostly M. Scheifele. The team has scored just 3 goals in the last 3 games, while conceding 8.
Ekman-Larsson was back to the lineup, but that doesn't mean that the team won't suffer with injuries on their defensemen anymore as Michal Rozsival left the game in the first period and didn't came back. His injury is still pending evaluation.
Winnipeg now has a 4 day rest before the game against the Blue Jackets. It comes in a good time as the team seems to be struggling with problems of their own.

PITTSBURGH, JAN. 5 - With both teams dealing with key injuries, Penguins and Jets faced off sunday in Pittsburgh. In addition to forwards Scheifele and Frolik, newly acquired defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson also missed the game with a minor concussion and Jets seemed a little off on the defensive side, maybe because it was the second night of a back-to-back after the last win vs. the Bruins.
The team managed to maintain the high-flying offense, shooting the puck 48 times on goal. But Marc-Andre Fleury was on fire and denied 47 of them, only allowing a late D. Setoguchi goal when the game was already 3-0. The Penguins showed that they can take on the best opponents even when Sidney Crosby is sidelined.

Important Note: With this loss, the Pens snapped Jets' 16-game point streak and 4-game win streak.

BOSTON, JAN. 4 - Both defenses and goalies made an awesome job this saturday at TD Garden as the game between Jets and Bruins had a soccer-like score on regulation time: 0-0.
In the overtime, Van Riemsdyk, a player who seems to always step up in these situations, finally found the back of the net, deflecting a shot made by Vermette to beat Tukka Rask.

Some random stats: It was the 2nd shutout for James Reimer in just 4 games. The Jets are on a 4-game winning streak. This one was just the second OT win of the team this season. The Jets are 2-7 in games that finish in overtime.

WIN STREAK ALERT: 4 games

WINNIPEG - Injuries are taking their toll on the Jets' roster once again. Third line forward M. Frolik sustained a shoulder injury against the Buffalo Sabres and now will be out of action for 10 days. Then, things only got worse as first line Center Mark Scheifele was also injured against the Ottawa Senators. It's still pending evaluation, but the rookie will miss some playing time too.
J. Halpern, acquired in the trade with Phoenix, had to be called up from the St. John's Ice Caps and will play in the third line, with O. Jokinen and A. Vermette being moved up one line each. E. Tangradi will play as the third line Right Winger in the next few games.
