ST. LOUIS - Game two of the NLDS went much better than game one for the St. Louis Cardinals. Chris Carpenter pitched a gem, allowing one run and striking out five over seven innings of work. Matt Holliday and Yadier Molina provided the biggest boosts to the offense, as they drove in two of the three Cardinal runs. Holliday went 1 for 3 with an RBI single in the first inning that scored Matt Carpenter. Molina also went 1 for 3, but he provided the biggest fireworks of the night - a solo home run to left in the seventh inning that sealed the deal for the Cardinals.

The series is now tied at one, with game three on October 10th, at 2:05 PM CST.

ST. LOUIS - A pitcher's-duel turned shootout became an instant classic. Unfortunately, game one of the 2013 NLDS went to the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Diamondbacks beat the Cardinals 8-7.

Adam Wainwright started on fire, only allowing one run through 6 innings, but he ran into trouble in the 7th. The D-Backs scored 6 runs in the 7th to take a 7-3 lead. After scoring in the top of the 9th, the lead got up to 8-5. St. Louis made a valiant comeback in the 9th, but it wasn't enough, as they fell to Arizona by one run.
