As mentioned yesterday, MLB The Show 17 patch 1.06 is available now, weighing in at just over 600 MB. Check out the full list of fixes below and post your thoughts.
To be clear - I am not insulting your opinion. It just seems like a trend [on these boards] is to call any feature not liked in the game a "gimmick". I think the term is not used properly. But that's just me - that's my problem.
But as far as playing the game how YOU want to play it - can't you just turn all the cutscenes off [quick play/mode..whatever the presentation option is called]? Won't that solve your problem?
I'm not trying speak for Aroid I just think that I understand what he's saying. I don't think cutscenes are an issue for him. I think not having the option to turn off the "no doubter" HR cutscene is what he was referencing. Some people like the organic feel of watching a HR from the gameplay camera instead of having a cutscene take away the suspense immediately. I believe in the past that was an option now it isn't. The other thing mentioned was the slo no camera on tags at second base. Again some people want to see things played out in real time without that slo mo. Some people will think these things are cool and some will think they're gimmicks. That's why it's always the best move to give people options.
Back when I was having these issues I kept telling myself there is no way I'm hitting the shoulder buttons. I apparently was without noticing while batting. Change the way you hold your controller.
Uh, sorry....no. It had nothing to do with the controller. Been playing this game for years.

You know i find this intriguing, and im not calling you out on this my friend, you have no reason to lie.
Its simply the variance in what people are seeing, as i literally have not seen this issue at all.
I play full games, Manager Hook on 2 and have never seen a pitcher yanked that i disagreed with based on game performance, pitches thrown etc.
Strange how some see it glaringly, others not at all.
I completely agree. Same slider setting and I have not seen this as a recurring issue. I can only recall one or two games where I actually questioned an SP being pulled. I just faced off against Kershaw, he gave up 4 runs an 11 hits and went out for the 8th and was pulled when I led off with a double.
Here's a really good example of something I don't see as a problem that I think others might be.
This is Chad Bettis a few pitches prior to the end of his day (83 pitches, pulled when Schwarber lined a double a moment later)
83 pitches is something I wouldn't really question for anyone - could be a bit low for some top stamina guys. But Bettis has 67 stamina - barely acceptable for a SP. He was beyond done as you can see by his energy even after pitching well (0 ER, 4 H 8 K with the tying run on 2nd). This was a play now game, but I'm not sure he would have fully recovered for his next start if this was a franchise game.
The AI does not hook based on pitch counts. It hooks by weighing the pitcher's remaining energy against the game situation.
This is the same behavior I've seen from the manager AI in full games since release day. And I just don't understand what the problem is that people are seeing. If anything the SP stamina slider could come up a few clicks so that average/below average stamina pitchers wouldn't be bottoming out on energy by the 6th-7th inning.
Has anyone else maybe noticed a slight extra lagginess on Enhanced Visuals mode? There was always a little lag at the plate before the CPU pitcher selcted his pitch but then smooth. Now it kinda feels like it's still stays a little laggy during delivery sometimes.
BTW, here's an obvious fix in this patch that wasn't listed - for away games the Cubs now default to their alternate road uniform (the red C with the bear) instead of their Road '82. They wear those far more frequently IRL than their grey roads so it's really just an "alternate" in name only. That probably means it's been fixed for RTTS as well.
Quoting this to update because it's a little bizarre - In both the play now games and at least going to team select on a new franchise this WAS fixed - as I said I got the "alternate" a lot more often. But when I went back into franchise after playing some games it looked like was back to about 50/50 alternate and Road '82. So, it's better at least but I think it's still pulling up those throwbacks too often. Like I said before, this should ensure that it's not always the Road '82 in RTTS at least, which is good because you don't have a choice of uniform there.

Hence why I have CPU Starter Stamina on 7 and Reliever stamina on 3.
Works like a charm. And I use hook on default.
Now you could go to hook on 2 when a starter is in and turn it back to default when they go to the pen. I found RP logic to be flawed on hook at 2 and on default it has been working great.
I had only one occurrence of a closer being pulled when I got a guy to third with two outs......and his energy was really low, and it was his 3rd straight day being used against me.
NEVER had this happen. On AUTO base running, runner on first, batter hits a sure double down the line. Runner on first goes to second, rounds the bag a couple feet, goes back, runner rounds first stops half way between second. Both runners frozen. I then hit the shoulder button to advance the, but it's too late.
No, I didn't hit a shoulder button before this happens. I'm hoping this is just a temporary glitch. I took a video, but have no idea how to upload it.
Did you happen to see the bad baserunning that ended the Wash-Balt game the other night? Looked a lot like what you described.
So I downloaded the patch and played a game and please tell me if anyone has seen this, but it seems like this patch has done the following:
- nerfed power yet again. My current sliders were playing well. Now it seems the CPU has absolutely no power. I'm throwing bp intentionally and they're hitting lazy fly balls . . . on Legend.
- pitch speed seems a notch slower again.

I don't see how you could even start to make this assumption after one game.

I doubt he would have made that assumption if he were trying to get batters out.
But if your throwing meatballs down the middle of the plate pitch after pitch, which I assume PAD was doing, then you can see how thought would creep in.

Not at all. First game today after patch, Orioles hit 6 against me(Tanaka started).
Interesting. You have the slider maxed out and back-light at 20? That is not to bright for you?
I tried it like that to see what the slider was all about (with back-light at 20) when I first got the game, and concluded it was a gimmick because all it did was brighten the picture, not add resolution or improve the graphics.
There must have been a setting wrong on your end. You need the backlight maxed out to achieve the proper brightness for HDR, and the local dimming to get the dark black levels. Most edge lit Tv's don't do real HDR that well unless it's at least a Samsung k8000 or a Sony 900 etc. A good TV would still be able to produce deep black levels and amazing shadows while showing bright lighting to provide the contrast of higher dynamic range. Every TV that does HDR requires the backlight to be maxed.
I have played about 40 full games (across all patches except the latest one 1.06) in my Phillies offline chise and have not experienced this at all. I have default hook slider. If anything I usually cant wait to get to the 7th when the bullpen gets in as that seems to be the only time my Phils players have any chance to get a little offense going. So far I am really happy with the show, however I am not the most learned of Baseball fans so may overlook some of these issues others raise...
