Just watched the new trailer. Game looks really nice.

The end of June can't come fast enough.

I honestly have no idea why people are so excited about that trailer.

I'm totally disappointed that the graphics seem nearly exactly the same with very little attention to the obvious issues like bunker edges, from version one.

Also… What demographic are we targeting here?

These comments about luxury houses and building up your status are just a complete turn off to me at least in the way they are worded.

Where is a literally anything showing us or talking about the new swing options and other changes that actual golfers care about?

I have no clue why anyone would pre-order this based on what has been shown so far… Are you really going to pre-order just to get a gold driver or some virtual points?

I'll probably pre-order the game. These guys are trying with a new IP. While I had some gripes last year seems like they are making strides. $40 bucks aint bad and I will get use out of it.

Can somebody explain to me the point in pre-ordering?

I don't just mean this game I mean really any of these games.

Does it not make more sense to let it release, let some people get some hands and eyes on it and get their thoughts out in the open and then make a decision?

I feel like these gaming companies really exploit people's excitement level to the point where it gets them to buy something that they know very little about for no real upside other than some silly virtual currency

It's a publisher/shop thing.
The more pre orders the more copies shops will buy and the more shelf space the game gets day one.
So encouraging people, who are going to get the game, to pre order boosts the visibility for shops to woo people not in the know

I don't know what you're seeing, but graphically the game is a huge leap forward.
Even since I left HB at Christmas the graphics have improved massively. Again you're focused on bunker edges which mean very little to the vast majority. I know the team want everything to be perfect but you have to go with bang for your buck.
To rewrite the system, which could take up to 30% of development time, which many won't notice and would actually see review scores go down due to lack of other new features, just isn't worth it. When developing a game you have limited time and budget and have to spend that wisely. If you do everything you want you'll end up not releasing anything and going bust.

Totally fair and I will reserve judgment and keep an open mind about the graphics changes.

The problem has been the absolute lack of any videos showing the normal angles and things you'd see in the game as a player - Hopefully that is coming soon.

I'm still really turned of by this type of verbiage..

"Moneybags"
"Elite Clubs"
"Heirloom Apparel"
"Elite Emblem"
"Premier Clubhouse"
"Gain access"
"Make your competitors jealous"
"Get rich quick"

(This is all straight out of the press release by the way)

I am just hoping that a more compelling and long term interesting game of golf is somewhere within this ability to "make your competitors jealous" & "Get rich quick".

Thanks for the reply Anthony.

I would be very happy to pre-order if game companies had enough confidence in their deliverable to honor a 14 day return policy. Since they don't offer anything of the kind, it ends up feeling like a bait and switch tactic to get sales while people are excited, but without full knowledge of what/why and first hand experience.

This is one of the reasons that I plan to pre-order once (if?) I can do so from the PS Store. Honestly, I couldn't care less about the pre-order bonuses (though I'm sure I may feel differently once I have them). It's really more about supporting a dev team and game that I've really enjoyed.

With the course creator alone, the more people that have this game, the more replay value it can have for me, personally. I'm not a golfer (I actually almost HATE playing...mostly because I'm terrible) but this game is probably the single most-played game I own on my PS4 simply because I can always find a new course to play.

Also, as someone else mentioned, I like the concept and dedication that I saw from the team that worked on TGC1. I'm willing to support a second effort on the franchise as a result. If it were a full-priced AAA game, maybe I'd wait for feedback but at $40, I'm willing to take a shot.

All that said...I really didn't see all the "huge" flaws that some people complained about. It really does just come down to the fact that I enjoy playing it, regardless of the issues that others have. In the end, isn't that really what the hobby of gaming is all about?

I'm not really sure "huge flaws" was the way most described issues with TGC1, more just that depending upon what you were looking for out of a golf game it had become repetitive to some.

The base of everything was great, just that it was way too easy for moderately experienced gamers to always hit fairways and dial in perfect shots with the loft graph thing, etc.

If they've addressed some of that, which it sounds like they might have, it should be a real winner, no question.

I'm excited to try the new tempo swing. Would love to see some footage of the hardest swing level and how the drives/approaches are resulting from that over the course of several holes for the demo player doing the video.

Would you guys play this on a console or PC? I have TGC1 on PS4 so weighing my options on maybe pre ordering it on the PC this time.

Depends - Do you have PC gaming hardware that is better than PS4?
(you likely do)

I'd play on PC if you can.
I had TGC 1 for PC and PS4 and it was way better on PC just due to the hardware (was running GTX 970 and an i5 that's 2 years old)

Have not seen the Xbox or PS4 versions.

The PC is the one I am going for as I am running an i7 7700K and a GTX 1080Ti and the game is as smooth as silk.

As soon as Xbox Scorpio comes out, I will get the Xbox version to play on my 65" 4K HDR TV.

haha!. I sure hope it plays smooth as silk on basically the highest end hardware you can buy for gaming right now!

Those 2 components alone are nearly $1000!

Looks amazing. The sounds are better and the swings look much improved. I'm hoping we can customize our equipment with this version with different colors for driver heads and shafts.

I saw this on Golf.com and was really intrigued with the possibilities. Sounds like it uses TGC and turns it into a full blown golf simulator. Would we be able to use it with user-created courses?

"The sensor links your swing information to The Golf Club video game software so you get simulated shot trajectories, distances and so on.

To get started, simply slide the Bluetooth-enabled 10-gram sensor onto a clip that you've attached to the shaft. When you swing away, the device tracks club movement in 3D and even analyzes the amount of vibration at impact to determine whether you pured the shot or mis-hit it. The sensor estimates clubhead speed, angle of attack, loft and energy transfer, and links the information to The Golf Club video game software so you get simulated shot trajectories, distances and so on."

Come on June 27th, I can't wait for this game!

I'm assuming that they can't use real player names? One thing that I would like for the career mode is to be able to edit the computer players names and stats ( a la The Show and Madden, etc) so that we could have as close to the actual PGA tour as we can get.

This looks amazing so far! I'd pre-order now if we could for PC....
