During today's Electronic Arts Q3 2017 earnings conference call, EA CEO Andrew Wilson confirmed the next NBA Live, which was originally scheduled to release early this year, has been pushed to the fall of 2017.

According to Andrew, EA wanted double down on the game and give it an entire NBA season to sell, rather than release it early this year as planned.

Lol at "its really good, and really fun" as if they have said anything different about the past installments of NBA Live. Well I cant say im surprised never understood the logic in releasing a basketball game this late in the actual season anyway.

It's comical to see Live 17 being officially cancelled, this supposedly "Drive to NBA Live" cancelled, and to read that the higher ups are saying this build is really really fun. Just make the higher ups game changers because, some of these game changers aren't helping. Struggle Live Apologists have been strung along for 5 years of dev apology letters and broken promises, here we are yet again.

Whatever, I guess we'll see a full reveal at EA Play in June. Only time will tell tho if NBA Live Mobile has anything to do with this delay.

Hopefully it actually comes out. 2k has been complete garbage for the last couple years.

Disappointing but not surprising. I doubted that they would deliver on the early 2017 release date and I was right. At this point I no longer care if they put the game out at all.

First i hear "they delayed it cool, the extra time will help a lot"

Now its delayed again and I'm seeing

"Cool they delayed it, the extra time will be great"

When is this company going to stop shooting itself in the foot?

Pathetic....they are still producing more excuses than results. My faith in NBA Live is done. Every year promises are made, and every year they have failed to deliver since the PS2 era

Maybe that's the marketing plan this game needs. Just look how alive this forum is!

Wont matter how good the game is if it releases at 59.99 nobody is going to buy it.

I'll buy it! I don't see how the delay is going to make the game worse..

Shame in that all they had to say was 2 year development cycle (which every sports game could benefit from) moving to frostbite, improving all modes while bringing updated rosters to 16.

Oh well, at least gives me more time to improve my rising star. Love how hard it is to level up your guy.

Check the Xbox club for live 16 pro-am tourneys. Game is still going strong in pro-am.

"when EA higher-ups got their hands on the game that was scheduled to launch in early 2017, they felt that “in all honesty [...] it’s really, really good — really fun.”

Anyway....
Can't say that i'm not surprised at this news lol

I'd only be very annoyed if we find out they scrap all that's been developed for something different. If they're just taking more time to develop what they've got then there isn't much of an issue here

Think about it; Fans of sports title clearly like to purchase during the start of a season because it reflects what they see on tv/online. We're getting an extra 5 - 6 months of game development on a game they're saying is really good and that's all we can say at the moment. I understand that it looks like they're not confident in what they have now but I see a bigger issue in releasing a game during the second half of a sports season. Bear in mind 2k18 will come out in in about 8 months, you might as well double down with the King

If they advertise hard and pull some strings with big name youtbers, social media outlets and the NBA, the competition can really begin

I just wish they'd do either a college basketball game or NBA Street.

Since you've done it yet again EA at least give us a patch for NBA Live 16 with updated jerseys and a roster update. That half assed attempt after the D Rose deal has ruined the game for me.

What happened to sports videogames? There was a time....

I didn't express how I really felt about this news but this was the first time since 2005 that I was looking forward to an NBA LiVe title.

Don't Ban Me For Saying This.

Man.......Live doing Live.....

WTF, I'm guessing you never got this memo ?

I haven't bought Live since Live 2002, so one can see how I've felt about the series for the last 15 plus years, but I see this as a positive. A full two years to work on Live 18, all the mistakes they should have learned from, I actually feel relatively optimistic that they're going to release a solid game this fall.

Wow so there's not gonna be a live 17 right? I guess the doubters were right even though people who were considered to be insiders were adamant the game was coming for sure
