During today's Electronic Arts Q3 2017 earnings conference call, EA CEO Andrew Wilson confirmed the next NBA Live, which was originally scheduled to release early this year, has been pushed to the fall of 2017.

According to Andrew, EA wanted double down on the game and give it an entire NBA season to sell, rather than release it early this year as planned.

If it's true, might actually be a good thing. Maybe they will release in the Fall, a more polished game, and go from there. Have to wait and see.

Lots of good info in this article:

“We have been on a journey with NBA Live,” said Wilson, making an oblique reference to the series’ troubled development history, “and want to deliver something that’s truly innovative and disruptive in the marketplace.” Wilson went on to say that when EA higher-ups got their hands on the game that was scheduled to launch in early 2017, they felt that “in all honesty [...] it’s really, really good — really fun.”
According to Wilson, EA has decided to “double down on [the game], add to it, and launch it as a full beat later this year.”

I think this is a good thing to be honest. This might be their real comeback game in regards to full fleshed out modes and player animations.

I was right all along that NBA Live would forgo the March release date and come out in September instead. Coming out later could be beneficial to NBA Live just imagine all the cool things they've added during that time. We can officially say by that time they've officially caught up to 2k because everyone kept saying their 2yrs away well guess what by September it will be a 2yr development cycle.

Still means they're 2 years behind, when you really think about it.

Why do I feel like I've seen this movie before......? Hmm........ In all seriousness, I really hope EA brings it this time. I've been waiting forever for Live to be good.

Oh, well. I'm not happy in one sense, but if they're taking an extra 6 months to develop a "really good game" into a great one, I guess that's fair. At least Live Mobile has been pretty fun for a free game

Apparently it was playable, according to Toneh who is a Game Designer at EA

However, if people still don't appreciate the game or think it's not good then I think they'll live through the Mobile world forever. I hope i'm wrong on this

Without knowing anything about the WIP title, I still think that it's a smart decision. Hopefully it means that the game will run on a new and better engine. But they need to find a base and build up on it, add things and improve the existing things.

Also, not having the ability to edit rosters/players is unacceptable and should hurt them financially if it's still the case.

Providing that it's a quality product, they need to stop with the "It's really good, you should try it, it's fun" attitude, and hire marketing professional to turn around the way this game is being branded and marketed. It's terrible.

Hopefully they don't listen too much to the higher-ups. They should listen to the gaming community, especially those who are mature and know the sport.

I hope they still drop the demo early this year.

If they are serious...I hope they would consider releasing a demo this quarter, gathering as much gameplay feedback as possible, while continuing to develop deep and customizable game modes.

I think with this being the 3rd reboot following the cancellation of Elite 11 and the non-release of NBA Live 12 and 13, this is really and truly EA's last shot at reclaiming relevancy and they must know it. The game has to be good, polished, full of options and deep modes. The decision was the right one IMO.

Well just make online association type mode like 2k did on 360 but failed to do on this gens 2k, make your pro am mode a full 4 quarters rather then a game up to 21. Work on the animations. Beat 2k to an online connected careers. Make calling plays, making subs, etc easy unlike nba 2k17. Make sure you dont get stuck on a logo screen upon launch and require additional steps just to launch a game. Add historical teams and if you decide to put a legend like kobe on cover make the game built around him. Take advantage of the new xbox coming out cuz 2k lazy asses aren't. Make a park mode similar to 2k but dont allow microtransactions like you did for nba live 16 then if all these things are done you will be good nba live.

R.I.P. NBA Live 😢

# 16 Hustle Westbrook @ 01/31/17 09:48 PM
It just seems funny to me. They were so adamant about this new early release schedule so to see it get delayed like this again just screams "same ol' Live" imo.

I'm guessing they're skipping NBA Live 17 and just heading straight to NBA Live 18?

# 17 youvalss @ 01/31/17 09:53 PM
Hopefully these guys' feedback is more for formal reasons and not what defines the game quality.

just give us nba street already

# 19 Crunky @ 01/31/17 10:17 PM
I could just imagine the NBA Live suits reading my 5,000 idea Wishlist saying to themselves we've got a long way to go to reach that milestone.

Just think about it for a second people; They just cancelled Live17; but it was really good, and really fun! I say BS to that. Why couldn't they release this "really good, and really fun" game for Us, the gamers to make that decision? Ah, snap! Holy Crap, they released NBA LIVE14 as a AAA title game to US, and tried to pass it off as the best LIVE series game to date!!! EA's NBA LIVE series is on life support right people. Bad marketing, crappy game, dysfunctional Dev team, any way you want to look at it; "Don't ever call it a comeback!" 'drop the mic'
Ask yourself this: When are too many excuses enough, to make you say enough?
