I can imagine I'm not in the minority with this but NBA 2k devs do us a favor and stop doing us favors. Just revert back to the day 1 feel of the game because we all know that when you patch something in something else important will get ruined. This game feels like NBA 2k16 all over again if I wanted to continue to play NBA 2k16 I would've kept it. I don't know if you guys are catering to 12 year old kids that can't play the game or what but please I beg of you patch things that we actually need like gameplay, hairstyles, player tendencies you know things like that.

After watching the first week of the NBA season and watching closely to the difference between 2K and NBA..

1. Getting past defenders is much more prevalent in real life. The way they prevent elite ball handlers from scoring is great help defense with proper rotations. It is rare you see a defender lock down someone one on one for a long amount of time. Kawhi like defense is an anomaly.

2. The pace of the plays. In 2K, depending on the play, you may utilize the full 24 seconds before you are completely in your set. In real life the offense runs their plays MUCH quicker. A refined offensive team like the Spurs or Cavs have their sets developing as soon as they cross halfcourt. Sometimes they even have some time to run a simple pick and roll or iso action if the play didn't get them the look they desired.

3. Bad defense doesn't guarantee a made bucket. I've seen several wide open looks with a clank. It happens... it needs to happen more on 2K. Lower FG% overall.

4. It is RARE a defender catches up to the offensive player on a fast break, if he started ahead of him. Same for in a halfcourt setting.

5. The new NBA shoots a TON of three pointers. 2K did a great job of changing that and making it an integral piece of the CPU's offense.

If they can solve 1-4 listed above, I think 2K17 would be a GREAT game. I am speaking strictly offline on higher settings. This was a great game upon release; it wasn't the new car smell that made me like it.

Literally agree with EVERYTHING here. These are my biggest game play complaints.

Paint defense needs a huge upgrade. Great post.

That part about the defender catching up annoys me. And has for years. 2k has yet to make fadtbreak realistic

This year's the worst though. Body checks galore. I can't wait til the patch comes out. I'd love to be able to feel properly rewarded for making a good steal. That, plus realistic fg% would be a great start.

You forgot to say how easy and cheap is to lead pass and score in the paint in this game compared to the real NBA, in 2k17 defenders allow a way too high percentage of the cuts to score without opposition... To me this is the biggest gripe with the game currently.

Cheers!

I lower mine and the cpu shooting always. I also up the defensive jumpshot strength on the gather. That does the trick.

I understand why they don't do it for online or general sliders though. Most of these 2k players only watch highlights and seem to think people shoot 75% on open jump shots

Great point man.

That didn't exist until they sped up the pass speed though. They've said they reduced it again so I'm hopeful it's back to what it was upon release. The CPU resorts to it too much right now.

This is depressing. NBA season has begun and I have the itch to play some bball but I refuse to play 2K17 in this broken state.

I just flat out packed my PS4 and put it in the closet until patch. Game is useless to me since I only play My Park with a slasher. Hope more people are doing the same or turning to other games this is just not acceptable.
