I refuse to even play the demo. Do we not remember, year in and year out, how the demo winds up being nothing like the end product after a few patches? The fifa 16 demo is literally a different game from patch 1.03 onwards (there abouts)

Cool, well thanks for offering your opinion on the game without even playing it.

No program needed just find your fifa 17 demo folder, open up Data/locale.ini in notepad, copy/paste these two lines at the top of the file and save it:

HALF_LENGTH=10
AI_SETTING_HALFLENGTH=10

(players stamina will be completely drained in the second half because it's calibrated for 4 minutes, and you may get an injured player at the end, but apart from that game plays the same. You can change the number to 8 minutes if you think 10 minutes is too much).

Lol. My sentiments exactly.

I'm interested to see, from all the naysayers, who is still posting in the FIFA Forum in a few months...

Where am I offering my opinion of the game? I'm simply posting that I don't intend to purchase it based on other peoples videos they've uploaded and perceptions.

Also, love how you just gloss over the fact that demos never wind up being anything close to the patched retail game. Like that's not been a consistent thing. I mean, really.

edit: Not trying to be confrontational. I love FIFA but as you can probably guess from my devs thread, I am quite sick and tired of how EA has allowed this series to get stale

My direct quote, so yes I acknowledged it will be different. Also, go back and read your posts, they are offering opinions without even playing the game.

Agreed. Won't waste time downloading demo, waiting until the full game hits EA early access.

Had a BLAST playing vs a friend of mine earlier today. I know it's not what people want to hear but this game definitely shines when you take the CPU AI out of the equation because it's flat out fun. The new gameplay mechanics definitely make the game feel different from last years and teams feel different from each other. The graphics definitely looks better, especially on replays and close ups obviously, but the animations are better during gameplay too. Some beautiful clearances, tackles, saves and shots. We had a lot of "ooooohhhh" moments as shots were taken from farther distances. We had games where there were less than 5 shots for each side and games with almost 15 each. He is a career mode player so we both play "sim" and loved every game.

Ibra doing Ibra things.

Sweet little 1-2 with Bale setting up James for the finish.

What amazes me is how immersed i feel playing this game from a visual and sound point of view, but it isn´t enough to grip me because of the AI offense that BL8001 so well describes here:

Exactly my thoughts on CPU offense, you just stand in front of them and they don´t know what to do! They don´t risk passes, they don´t shoot the ball, they are robots trying to find another robot to receive the ball...

Ok. I played about 7 games of the demo (inc Journey) last night varying between the teams. I love most of it but It will want to be more competitive. The CPU attack is more direct than the Fifa 16 demo (as far as when the CPU is near the box and has a chance to shoot it does) but the build up and actual shots on goals still aren't many.
The biggest problem I have at the moment is how easy it is to get past the CPU to shoot. I am a decent World Class player and was playing on Legendary and didn't have too many problem getting past the CPU defenders.
One time (I was Juve against Madrid) I was dribbling towards the 18 yard box and I had CPU players tight against me to my left, right and one just in front of me, I just dribbled diagonally into the box and got a shot off without any challenges by the defenders. Playing against Juve was better but still not as it should be.
I love the game but this needs to be fixed otherwise it won't last too long for me. After 4 demo games it just wasn't that fun.
I actually went and played the PES 2017 demo again, which I had only played a handful of games up to now, and the defenders were so challenging and I loved it.
Sliders will help defend but the defender needs to put challenges on you. IF Fifa 17 improves the CPU defending I'm sold!

Guys, please let me know your thoughts.

Played it a bunch more tonight and i like it even more.
The little things are starting to add up for me. Goalie throws feel soo nice now 2 different types now same as kicks, so does the driven shot and downward headers, The amount of control we are getting is pretty awesome.
Little animations all over the pitch im starting to see . Cleared a ball of the line with a defender running back and adjusting his head to clear it pretty awesome.

I suggest anyone not seeing long balls to play against Chelsea, they seem to have a really nice varied attack and ping a lot of long balls up to Hazard on the wing and Costa upfront.
Heres a weird thing tho it doesn't seem to happen as much from the broadcast camera i usually use its much more prevalent in the default camera, sure its just coincidence but i played 2 in a row where they played a lot of long balls and i mean a lot , when i switched camera not as many.
Jury is still out on that.
The gamba team who ever they are take poor first touches. So there is some difference between the teams.
Yes i agree with everyone the Ai ***** foots around too much and should shoot more and im seeing a serious lack of fouls called against the human.
But other than that its really growing on me.

Try playing against Chelsea see what you think as far as AI build up there isnt ping pong passing against them.
Tell me im drunk and crazy.

Oh edit, im on World Class

this is a great game to play with someone sitting next to me on one console. this is the only way to play for me. online has always been cheese'y, and playing against the CPU is boring after some time.

For me the only way to play this game is on manual passing and shooting. It seems that this year 'manual' is easier than before. It feels way more 'assisted'. I don't know... maybe it's like that only in demo.

Anyway: here is my gameplay against the CPU. I played on manual controller settings, and all of you who want some challenge, and for those who want to think before they pass - I suggest to put it on manual.

For everyone saying the AI just dribbles and doesn't try long balls or crosses, have you even tried to change the AI's tactics?

And there will be a LOT more of that in a 30 minute match! The truth is, it's hard for the AI to do much of anything in an 8 minute match, especially if you want to see some of the ball.

And yeah I won't disagree with anyone that says the AI's short passing is still ridiculous, but without any sliders we can't add any error to their first touch or passing...

This could be retitled

fifa 17 just sprint

Because boy can you. Straight down the wings, straight through the middle. Straight anywhere.

And if you want to cheese harder zig zag. It's fifa 15 all over again.

I didn't believe it myself but read how op sprinting was elsewhere so just tried it and boy oh boy were they right.

Very disappointing with the demo. This was my most expected game of the year. I played 100s of games on 16.

I played only 2 games so far but I felt only boredom. I couldn't wait for the games to end. There's just nothing to get excited about. I was expecting much more from Frostbite but it's only small touches. There's no new engine to speak of.
The corners are okay but I didn't get to test them much. Didn't get any free kicks so I can't comment on those.

PES demo feels like football and alive. This just goes west-east with the CPU trying to dribble the ball in.

The only thing FIFA has going for it this year is the licenses. They only care about FUT. Not sure anymore which game to get with NHL also getting a mixed reception. At the moment I can't see myself shelling out 60 € for this.

Having now played a few games, I have to say I'm dissapointed but not surprised. It's not that the demo is bad, it's just that it seems to be a 'tarted up' version of FIFA 15/16. Yes, the graphics are slightly better, but there seems to be no great change in the AI. All they seem to do each year is tweek with the speed or accuracy of certain things (crosses, through balls etc). The commentary is the same old stuff we've heard for the past couple of editions and no doubt we'll have this years version of "Cech's moving to Arsenal for £40mil" being mentioned repeatedly in your first 3-4 games at the start and the missing names when reading out team sheets when you make transfers. That's just sloppy, lazy programming. The crowd atmosphere, or lack of is still the same.

Like I said, the demo is not bad, it's just that nothing has really changed in the past 3 years. I play offline career only and you know full well that the same old career mode issues will be there; poor transfer system, the glut of 45 and 90min goals, the way each season always pans out the same - first 6-8 games are tight affairs with 1-0,2-0,1-1 scorelines, then you have another dozen games where the flood gates open and you get 4-0, 3-0, 2-2, 5-1 score lines (i'm an average player), then you get the mid season rut where you lose a couple and only win 1 of 5/6 games, then the last few games the flood gates open again. Rinse and repeat. The fact as a 2 star team it's usually easier to play 4/5 star teams in cup games than league games at your level. The poor fixture schedule,......... It's just frustrating!

I've played FIFA since International Soccer days, but never been someone who buys it every year. That's partly to do with changing from PC to console, to PC and back to console (PS4 at mo) and not liking FIFA on PC. Having bought 15 and 16 on PS4 but before that was FIFA 12 on Xbox, I'm thinking it's maybe time for another FIFA break until they re-do it rather than just basically updating kits and squads and charging for a full game and BF1 is on the horizon so that can take up my limited gaming time.

You're not wrong at all - I'm surprised you were met with any disagreement really.

Anyone who's enjoying the demo, planning to buy the game and expecting it to still be representative of what we'll have in as little as 3 months is going to be disappointed I'm afraid.

I'll play the demo, just for curiosity's sake, but I won't be making a decision on whether or not I'll buy it based on it.

# 197 Qb @ 09/15/16 09:34 AM
Played one game last night, well part of one game, as it hung and ultimately crashed after I [hilariously poorly] converted a PK following a handball in the box. That's a demo for you...

I'm not sure what to think about it. I don't really ever get much out of the FIFA demo, and I don't like the game on default settings anyway. So I'm not going to cancel my Amazon order just yet, but I'm more concerned about it than I was Monday.

Hopefully the unpolished/unbalanced feeling I get from it just an old build/demo thing and not indicative of the final tuned product. I mean, I know it will still be FIFA for better and worse, but I'd be rather surprised and disappointed if it took a big step back considering the series' trajectory and profile.

# 198 cadalyst17 @ 09/15/16 10:01 AM
I greatly enjoyed playing this demo. Everything was much improved from the graphics to game play. Still not crazy about the new PK system, or for that matter the corner kicks, but I will withhold my judgment when I see the final product. Definitely a buy for me! :-)

So I cancelled my preorder. Will do the Best Buy trade deal and eagerly await EA Access impressions/video.

God, I hope that new Corner/Free Kick Mechanic isn't in the retail version.
