You have a fair point--but I think it's likely time wasted thinking about what may or may not happen with longer halves, on--more importantly, a different build of the game.

My opinion is that they do themselves a disservice giving us only 4 minute halves. There's NO WAY to get a 'feel' for how the game will be w/ 4 minute halves.

In other news, Schweinsteiger an 86 OVR? The heck...?

Played three matches last night on World Class difficulty two Juve vs Inter matches and one Bayern vs. Chelsea match. Right off the back I was impressed with how Frostbite engine looked especially those close up shots on the players. As someone who just didn't care for Fifa player models I feel like they are at a point when I am almost pleased with them and I know for a fact they will only get better in the future. The colors of the stadiums, the ad boards and lighting look really good and almost make me feel I was in the stadium BUT as soon as the match starts and the players start moving it literally kills the whole immersion for me lol.

I can't fully judge it but something just doesn't feel right and these 4 minute matches don't give me enough time to really even get in the match but for some reason shooting and passing just doesn't feels right as the ball physics just look off to me. The first two matches I played against Inter they just kept the ball played short passes the whole time and ended up with 95% and not one shot attempt on goal. The last match gave me hope against Chelsea as they actually played different with a few lobbed passes over the top mixed in with some crosses and finished the game with 84% passing. That game was a little more enjoyable but I felt like could easily through pass over the top their defence. I hope to play more tonight and will post more impressions but initially I wasn't too impressed with the gameplay I surely didn't give it enough time so I am eager to jump back in.

And compared to the exhibition game, the game plays so much better, still very much like 16, but slightly better,CPU not being crisp in passing, made more mistakes tan in kick off mode.
But not a wow effect, and I wasn't able do judge how the CPU played (long short) since you only get 10 FIFA minutes to play that mode.
But huge difference between kickoff and Cm.
Did anyone else try this?

Honest, no irony or disdain question:

Isn´t this exactly what was happening last year with the CPU offense? I remember a post of mine saying those exact same words here, and this was the reason why i abandoned FIFA very early last year (also abandoned PES early because, mainly, of the R2 placed shot sure goal).

FIFA CPU offense last year felt without any purpose, desire to score, almost no shot´s from outside except first-time shot´s, 90%+ pass accuracy but no goals/shot´s to show for it, no misplaced risky passes...

I honestly believe this is absolutely intentional! The short halves. I mean, it´s absolutely enough to be mesmerized with the graphics, lightining, presentation, commentary, sound, wich are all awesome... and it´s juuuuust enough for most people not having a chance to see the AI offense problems. Of course, people who have been playing FIFA for a long time, will immediately see how bad the AI offense is, but for the most part, the short halves do make it difficult for people to notice it.

@nunogomes : Nope. Cpu AI offensively was great last year compared to other years. Direct passing, less dribbling, long shots, crosses, etc. It was a joy for me to play EPL in Fifa 16. Not perfect but I had fun. Now after 10+ matches it really feels like EA went back to 2009 at least regarding Cpu AI.
I'll wait for some extended impressions from Matt but I have a feeling he's also massively disappointed by the AI.

I haven't seen too many fouls either. Sometimes it's hard to get close to the CPU attackers on the higher levels though and my FIFA strategy is mainly geared at avoiding contact.

Honestly, i have never experienced that last year, no long shots, no variety on CPU offense, no risk, no difference between teams, too much ball hogging and passing around... so, this year feels like last year to me. But many people enjoyed last year game, so i guess it´s my point of view.

Is it just me, or does the computer take every single corner kick short? Is anyone else noticing this?

# 149 MJH @ 09/14/16 11:40 AM
I played a couple of matches but had to turn it off, it was just boring.

I do like the presentation and manager visuals, but after the first game I was over it. It just wasn't fun to play. I prefer the feel of 16, if I'm honest.

Gonna try The Journey tonight and see how it goes.

I agree with you.

When I play Fifa the CPU is almost never a threat organically. If I kept track of how many times the CPU beat me in possession but didn't even take one shot, or scored on their only shot (most times shortly after I score or near 45/90 minutes), it would be a landslide in favor of that.

In fairness, the pattern isn't as noticeable unless you play career mode, but since that's all I play, it's a total drag.

Well this is my short review . Let me start with pes gameplay wise is just way better than FIFA. And I have been buying both games every year from the time the started making them only cause I've never been on a budget and I practically only play all sports games from nba to NHL go madden. And ppl who moaned about pes not having licences well it's pretty easy to put em in with the option files. The think I like about pes is the games feel way more exciting then FIFA. The ball weight is just perfect . FIFA just feels a bit of a drag but I would still buy both. I'm disappointed in FIFA but it's still a must buy . For me

Yeah, that was my experience too. Also in career mode.

AI most certainly lacks variety, but then again every EA sports game has that very issue.

Played a few more games this am hoping that I missed something from yesterday. Sadly, nothing has changed.

Mindless "build up" by the CPU and more of FIFA just with a new engine and some fancy marketing jargon and menus. This demo is an absolute snoozefest.

Czar said it best: "stop playing video games and start playing basketball". Unfortunately with FIFA there have been only a handful of times within the last 8-10 years where I felt like I was playing *plug in team name* and not playing a video game. No matter the package it ALWAYS feels like you're playing against the engine and not the team. No formation adjustments and the "strategy adjustments" happen when the CPU decides it's your turn or theirs to score a goal. Simply put it's just FIFA. I'm sick of the dev team, their philosophies, approach, and priorities.

I'll definitely download the EA Access trail, hoping for different results but with other great titles releasing at the same time I may wait until its a free download from the Vault.

Really enjoyed this goal from Sterling. Dunno how to feel about some aspects of the game. The thing that annoys me most in FIFA this previous years still exists in this demo -- every damn team plays like Barcelona. 85% accuracy in passing the ball...70% possession of the ball. It pisses me off lol

That stripe on City is not right. Seriously, why would kits be so obviously wrong? That better be fixed for the retail copy!

You're right. I just saw Hunter on Manchester City in a pic.

This is great news. So I'll just join the worst PL team.

Did a video with my impressions

I thought the AI was solid first couple games but once I looked at defensive AI tendencies on my recordings on my ElGato I saw how bad their positioning is. Some schoolyard stuff in this video. I do like the physical play overhaul for the human player but the CPU tends to be way too passive because of it. Couple of times where they had chances to shoot or push down touchline but instead posted up a defender and layed the ball off to someone outside the box.

I honestly feel I'm playing a different game than you all

Played 4 games on World Class and loved every single one.

Someone actually said there's no long balls but my first game I saw about 4. This game isn't revolutionary, but I think it's AT LEAST right up there with PES for different reasons.

Whatever, to each their own I guess...

# 160 Ettnollbajen @ 09/14/16 01:53 PM
Played a few more games, and went back and forth between this one and the PES demo, unless the final product is really improved,I won't be getting this one.
To me,and that's a personal view on it,it's all make up and zero depth, kinda the opposite to PES.
Again,personal opinion.
Think I'm most disappointed with the fact that I love FIFA 16, still play it,think I have around 2,5 seasons done the past month and a half.

So basically disappointed not compared with PES,but with FIFA 16.
Hopefully it's a fixer upper, but not for me at release day and full price
