NBA 2K17 MyCAREER Blog with Senior Producer Ben Bishop

Hi everyone! My name is Ben Bishop, and I’m a Senior Producer here at Visual Concepts. I spend most of my time working on all things MyCAREER, so I’m here to fill you in on the new and exciting changes we made for the mode in NBA 2K17.

You’ve probably heard about The Prelude by now, but if you haven’t, check out the trailer, or just try it out. It’ll be available on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network on September 9, and it’s completely free! The Prelude covers the college portion of MyCAREER, and has a ton of great content. If you want a head start on your career, or even just to get a taste of what the game is like this year, I promise it’ll be worth your time. But the intent of this blog is to cover everything ELSE you’ll find in MyCAREER, so let’s get started.

Do we know if injuries are back? Obviously I don't want to get injuries but they are a part of the game for everybody. Playing all 82 games every season is unheard of. It'd make things more realistic.

I wonder if there is an option to play basketball instead of watching wooden dialog about characters that make no sense?

not trying to be funny - but i think you can create a player put them on a roster in myleague and then player lock? hope that helps

Thanks for that, but the main thing I play is ProAM with my friends so I have to upgrade my guy somehow. Hopefully this is like last year where I can sim through everything and the horrible story to get to actually playing basketball and not watch animated daytime soap operas.

say no more! fellow pro am guy here!! i get it!

i saw some leaked footage of the "doin work" progression meter and it looks like its going to take twice as long to hit 99ovl. BUT i kinda like that because you get to really see who is nice and who is relying on attributes.

we wont be abe to tell until we get the game - but ive been saying for a couple years i wish you could earn upgrades in pro am/park instead of forcing mycareer on us - maybe one day

I've heard that in MyLeague/MyGM, uniforms will be added as they debut in real life. Will they also be added in MyCareer, or would we have to restart to get the new uniforms?

ya the most frustrating thing is my player is I'm on the Knicks and both Melo and I start, but he gets subbed when I play and I get subbed when he comes back on.

It's so annoying to have a weird rotation in which I play 35/40mins and Melo gets like 12/18. Shabazz Mohammed gets exactly the same play time as he does.

How do simulated stats work in MyCareer?

Never really played that mode and I dont have enough time to do 82 games with 12 min quarters.

Can I also do 29 or 58 game seasons and adjust playing time to 6min quarters + adjust the simulated stats to fit 6min quarters?

Really love that feature in MyLeague and MyCareer would be pointless to me if the whole stats thing is completly screwed up.

The mode looks awesome this year. But hopefully we can practice a bit before stepping onto the college court. Been months since I played 2k16. If I want to go top 5 on launch day, I gotta kill it tomorrow.

I'm hearing that you have to unlock the ability to customize jumpshots. Can anyone confirm this?
